  1. I think last spring he looked lost in general. I like Lowell, I'd like to trade Lowell more than I'd like to keep him at the moment. I'm still crossing my fingers for Helton.
  2. Against the yankees isn't everything. They can't keep every aging vet in on the roster year in year out.
  3. Wrong sir, I remember very distinctly many people bitching about how slow his bat was, and it looked very slow. Everyone thought it was going to be another season of .230 hitting and mediocre power for him. Everyone, even me for a little while. ST doesn't mean anything though.
  4. Pena might be the best fourth outfielder in baseball and Hinske is valuable off the bench. Not enough people give Alex Cora his due credit. One of the smartest players in baseball and he will make tito look really smart with his glove late in games. Belli is a wash, I'd rather have someone like Kottaras make the roster, but at the same time I think as long as wake is in the rotation some chemistry with the catcher can't hurt.
  5. He had a bad slow bat last spring too. I hate ST so much, everyone gets on the case of every player who doesn't look like an all star after 2 weeks and its crazy. ST means nothing, guys are trying to get back into competitive shape and it takes time. Wait until the last week or so and make judgements.
  6. Leave the guy alone! He's pretty cool, but how about that Eric Hinske?
  7. I would not bet against ohio if Oden gets hot.
  8. You can't throw anything by a major league hitter when they know its coming, thats his problem. 97 isn't automatically unhittable just because its 97. Having a 97 mph fastball doesn't make you instantly successful. You have to learn how to pitch to professional hitters and most of this guys life has been spent pitching to amateur hitters. The best amatuer hitter can't even hold the worst professional hitter of any level's jock strap. Hansen needs to learn how to set guys up with the fastball so he can get the slider by some bats. He needs to use his sinker which he got away from last year when a lot of scouts thought Hansen got wrapped up in the radar gun readings. We'll see.
  9. Yeah, when it rains dish is useless, we had dish for like four years and every time it frickin rained the TV was useless.
  10. Good call, thanks.
  11. I would have liked to see Ellsbury stick around a little.
  12. What does this mean exactly? No baseball at all unless you own a dish or get MLB.tv? sorry, but .tv sucks. I had it last year, and its not worth having IMO. How about for NESN and YES Network fans? No more games there?
  13. If you haven't seen the 97, you haven't seen him pitch. I think his slider looks dirty, he just isn't missing bats with it because he hasn't been locating his fastball well because he tries to throw it through the back stop and loses it.
  14. Way too early to really take any results seriously, but his stuff has looked downright incredible, and I know Matsuzaka likes to get right after it. He is one guy who I think is looking for early returns in ST and stats might be a little more indicative of what he might be this season than other guys, but still too early, mon. I want to see him face some thick AL middle hitters like Arod and Vladdy. That will be fun. That curve ball he led off uggla with defied physics. That is one of the best breakers in the game. Thats right, i said it. In the game.
  15. I can't speak to whether or not he has some competitive fire in him. I met him a couple times briefly, but from what I see on the field he has VERY good stuff. People don't get how rare 97 plus MPH velocity is with his kind of control. Not to mention the slider. Its dirty stuff. He needs to get his feet under him, stop pitching for the radar gun and go back to using that filthy sinker he used in college.
  16. Ok, I've met craig a couple times, a friend of mine from high school knows him personally and I have to say there is NO WAY he is only 180 pounds. The guy is thick. He might not look it compared to other ball players on TV but he is actually massive. 180 is such a low estimate. I weigh 210, and I would be shocked if he wasn't heavier than me.
  17. Yeah, Ichiro is not a neccessity by any means. I would love to get Fuentes from Colorado.
  18. Nolan's fastball Pedro's change Koufax's curve Rollie Fingers slider Rocket's split This guy never loses a game.
  19. I wouldn't do the Ichiro deal, but I would trade for Helton or Cordero in a heart beat. See, we don't have a 1st base prospect waiting in the wings by a long shot, so going the expensive route isn't a big deal, but Ichiro's game is predicated on his speed and that is going to be in decline over the next few years, I'd say probably big time. He'll still be good, .295 - .310 with good on base like always, but he is going to command more money than is worth when you consider that Ellsbury could probably put up similar numbers in '08. Giving up that kind of pitching for him, and your guess is pretty relaxed, I think it would take both Bowden and Bucholz, and thats way too much in talent than is worth and then when you consider money its just way out. Ellsbury will make nothing and have a similar impact. I I personally would give up anything for Cordero, I think he's great.
  20. Watch burns actually be a 4ft tall dominican player with a purple glove or something. This might be my favorite thread ever.
  21. Hansen pitched? Wha? Confused....
  22. NESN said he pitched, but I don't think the game was televised, there was just a little blip that said 1 IP, 3 ER for Hansen. Mistake maybe? I don't think he is even cleared to pitch.
  23. Um... Delcarmen was injured last summer and never was the same. Forearm injuries can mess with you a little bit. I don't think anything Hansen throws is flat. We haven't seen him this spring, and I think a lot of people are holding out for him to do well this season and there isn't much reason to think he won't at least make an improvement. Delcarmen might not be as good as once advertised, but I don't think he sucks big time. Have some patience. Don't judge too much in ST.
  24. Well, he hasn't had a lengthy career so to slap that tag on him is a little premature I think.
  25. I don't think hes good. I'm just saying, how many games have we played so far? I'm not ready to say who i think should pitch in what role. I don't see how anyone could. Toying with the idea of Pineiro as a reliever is fun, but might not pan out.
