  1. I'm holding you to that jack. If Beckett posts that ERA, you will have big picture of him hoisting this years world series trophy in your sig after the post season.
  2. Schilling - 16 - 8 3.93 200+ IP Beckett - 19 - 5 3.23 200+ IP Matsuzaka - 17 - 7 3.45 200 IP Wakefield - 9 - 9 4.00 100 IP Lester - 9 - 5 3.80 120IP Tavarez - 3 - 8 5.25 100 IP Papelbon 45 saves in 49 chances 1.10 ERA.
  3. When has Papelbons velocity been down? Even when he was starting his velocity was up around 94 each pitch..... Gom you made no sense and just made a fool of yourself i think.
  4. Bucholz has pitched above A. He pitched in AA last year at the end.
  5. I don't mind the 4 starts at Greenville. It makes sense, they can monitor what hes doing much better there. After the DL stint though, I'd like to see him compete in some AAA games.
  6. I think I'd rather see him play against more talented/polished AAA hitters for awhile before going to the majors again rather than putting down a bunch of single A and double A hitters.
  7. This isn't something worth wasting 2 more pages of this thread on. Just stop.
  8. Funny that the last relevant post in this thread was by Rob, huh? This is going off-topic in the wrong direction. If you have complaints about a certain member, anyone is welcome to PM myself or one of the other moderators and voice concern, but for right now this discussion is off. This isn't the place.
  9. 3 lefties? Really? I want snyder or MDC on that roster for the season.
  10. He still has his stuff. He doesn't have any command what so ever right now, its ugly to watch.
  11. I've never seen paps velocity dip below 90 ever and I watch him a lot. I go out of my way to watch a lot of baseball, and read a lot of reports and I've never read anything but praise of Papelbons fastball. He would have been a fine starter, I think if he stays healthy, he is a HOF caliber reliever. I think as a starter he'd still be very good, but not as beastly. He never would have fallen on his face. Rob Zombie, maybe its best if you just forget about this one. Move on. No need to drag this one out.
  12. His approach in the second half of august and all of september was drastically different than what he was doing most of the season prior to that. He put up some good numbers in that stretch, and he was mixing in all his pitches. Don't look now, but it looks like his change up has come a long way too. So now, if he has his approach mastered - which seems to be a throw hard late, mix it up early type deal - and a revamped change, if he keeps locating his curve like he has been all spring look the hell out. I'm calling Beckett at 18 - 9 3.50 in 210 IP
  13. This isn't a decision made with only 2007 in mind. Anyone who has any idea what Theo is about would know that he is absolutely not going to budge and sacrifice long term success for the short term. If they are moving Papelbon back to closer, its because they are confident his subluxation was a one-time thing and isn't going to effect him long term. That is the only way this move happens.
  14. Sox fandom is a fraternity that you can't leave even if you wanted to.
  15. That was about the worst assessment ive ever heard of Lester. Its 2:44 AM, and I don't wanna get heavy into this. But loads of command work? Not good stuff? Doesn't have the junk to buckle knees, eh? So a 93 mph fastball followed by a 69 mph slow curve thats absolutely dirty isn't knee buckling? I think even 700 would have to admit he has nasty stuff. His walk rate was a little out of control, but christ have you watched him pitch? Jamie Moyer throws 81 mph, Lester throws better than 91 each FB. Don't joke around. He might never be dominant, but he will be well above average. Dominant would be 20+ and sub 3. I think Lester is more than capable of 15+ and mid-3. The control was off in the majors, but hes been shaky like that at the beginning after a call up at every level for some reason, so there is a lot of reason to hold out hope that he'll be very good.
  16. You didn't really make an arguement in that first post there. You hate the signings, but you like Drew and Lugo? What free-swinging hackers did they bring in? How can you not like the tenacity of our FO going out and getting it done on Matsuzaka? In my opinion our FO has been doing some ballsy stuff, putting Papelbon in the 'pen is huge. Once Lester is ready, that move is gonna look big because our rotation is just as deep with Lester as with Papelbon.
  17. Let it be heard, I love Kilo.
  18. Lester will be in the rotation by june 1st.
  19. My take on Julio: Monster stuff, awful control.
  20. No way does tavarez close...
  21. D-Mat looking human. How many people wanna put him on the next plane back? I liked how in the 3rd, he stranded a runner at 3rd with 1 out. Aces do stuff like that. Jus' sayin'.
  22. I missed it, did Matsuzaka give up a bomb?
  23. I doubt Lowell took roids.
  24. Delcarmen and Hansen have upside both being in their 20's. Hansen in his early twenties. These guys have a lot of potential. Prospects don't instantly become great major leaguers, sorry Fred, it doesn't work out that way. Maybe the best pitching prospect in the country, Homer Bailey, went out the other day and got tagged for like 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning. You think the Reds are going to deal him off for nothing because he fell on his face once? No. You think if he gets called up and doesn't get it done right away, they'll deal him? No. He still has a power arm and upside. Hansen, especially, has upside. He is going to be able to be at least a decent reliever if not a closer type when his time comes. Patience.
