  1. I'm pretty sure Lester and Hansen wouldn't be factored into the discussion at this point.
  2. You win some, you lose some.
  3. Pedroia is still a prospect, got me there. Lester and Hansen are not. There is also a number of days spent up at the ML level that qualifies a player for Rookie Status, I distinctly remember Hansen and Lester both reaching that point. If you can dig up some proof otherwise, cool, but until then it's my understanding that his analysis of the Sox system is without both Lester and Hansen.
  4. Here is why I value Hansen more: He is 2 years younger than Delcarmen, and has a better repetoire. He has the higher ceiling. I realize Hansen hasn't done anything to back it up, but he is 23. MDC and Hansen are almost on equal footing as far as experience, MDC gets the ever so slight edge. I would take the younger player with the higher ceiling. I like Hansen's stuff a little more, and he has more stuff. If it were me, I wouldn't trade Hansen because I do think he has the potential to be special. Delcarmen might too, but he is a little more expendable. I like both a lot.
  5. I don't think they are. I read what he had to say and he didn't mention any of them that I saw. Since they aren't considered prospects anymore, I don't see why they would be.
  6. Yeah, I did that with some friends. We play a lot of wiffle ball. We play hardcore, people legit don't like to play with us. Fast pitch, and indian rubber. You leave with no hits, and lots of bruises.
  7. I don't think so. I think MDC or Bucholz, I think Theo really likes Hansen or else he would have never broken team policy to give him a major league contract. They really wanted him, I doubt they trade him. He coveted Lester and Papelbon, and we got offered a lot for them in a lot of different trades and nothing could pry them loose. I think Hansen might be the same way. I can see why trading Bard might not be so bad. I'd prefer to keep a power arm like that and trade MDC. See what happens over the next year or so with Bard, but MDC is like 25-26 now, and he is still a question mark. Questionable control of his breaker and a flat fastball. I like what he does when he's on, but he has never been on consistently at the major league level. The Rox, by all accounts so far, consider him to be one of our elite prospects, I would deal him to get Helton before I dealt Bard because Bard has a higher ceiling.
  8. With the Rockies picking up half of his contract he becomes an 8 - 10 million a year player, and if he can get on base at a clip of .4something and hit .3something while seeing 3.9 pitches per PA, I jump at that. Declining power or not, whatever he slugs is considered the icing. I give up whatever it takes. Hansen I try to keep. Bucholz I would help pack.
  9. MDC will post a sub-3 ERA even in Colorado. I personally think he doesn't fit in here to do much outside of mop-up. I'd do it. I love MDC though.
  10. They can't throw in Bard. He was drafted just last year.
  11. Yup, I'd pack Jacobi's bags for him.
  12. Yeah, the Rosenthal report is older. Newer stuff at least has the money being agreed upon. I think as far as players are concerned anything will be speculation at this point.
  13. Lugo Drew Ortiz Manny Helton Youk Tek Pedroia Crisp With our pitching staff, and any pulse from our bullpen we could win 100 games. Thats why this is a very cool deal.
  14. Oh, no doubt. I'm not saying I think a deal won't get done. I'm saying, the money being agreed upon doesn't make me think a deal will get done. I think something is going to happen, I think this is too good a deal to pass up. I'll take that bet too, 700.
  15. Even if he is only league average, if you're just talking annual salary, we got him very very cheap. I'd expect a mid-3 ERA and 15 or so wins this first year. I also think he'll trend up.
  16. A little late. Thats ok though, feel free the bump old topics, welcome to the forum.
  17. No, its just the money. It doesn't mean a deal is in place at all.
  18. Well, we don't share the same view on it. I don't see a correlation between K's and HR's or power and position. You do. Can't change that. He wasn't an average fielder though, he was very good. What are you even basing that on? A guy who can hit .280 with good on-base isn't anything to complain about from the back of the order, especially when he fields his position well. And really, what does the Sox team batting average from 03-05 have to do with anything?
  19. I disagree about youk 120 K's in 500+ AB's isn't great but there isn't anything 'alarming' about it. He has an above average glove at first, very above average. I watched him play all year long and I love a good first basemen. I was very pleased with what he did on defense this year, I don't think many disagree with that. Now, I don't know what the average BA is in the MLB but I'm willing to bet .279 is better than the average. A .381 OBP is above average. And not every player with marginal power is automatically a marginal major leaguer.
  20. Pedroia has to be considered an unknown at this point. Varitek Youk and Pedroia at the back end isn't terrible. Varitek needs to have a pulse this year, and I don't see whats wrong with Youk. I love Youk's production.
  21. Eh, I think we have a good lineup is. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Ellsbury and Bucholz in the deal, Hansen makes me a little uncomfortable with it because I do think he is going to be very very good. Pretty much any deal without Hansen makes me a happy person.
  22. Your boundless optimism for every yankees player makes me nauseous sometimes.
  23. You can't say that just because a player has performed one way his whole career that he'll just stay that way. He strikes out no one. No one. That would concern me.
  24. Unless we have a deal in place to acquire a closer afterwards I would say the Sox have no intentions of trading both Hansen and Delcarmen. I wouldn't be surprised if they dealt Ellsbury, Hansen and Bucholz in this one.
