  1. Those Colts had a much softer schedule than the Pats this year. We played all the top tier teams. Out of the 3 other divisional playoffs, the pats played 4 of the 6 teams during the regular season, and obviously they won.
  2. I'm probably going to catch flak for this.... BUT, I'm going to lock this just because a little one liner like that doesn't warrant its own thread. Sryz, dawg.
  3. Yeah, doesn't seem to be coming from anywhere else. Isn't juan done anyways? And about Juan being a juicer... was he ever officially connected to steroids or HGH?
  4. Easily explained. Cut fastball. The chart doesn't have the cutter accounted for and its a 88-90 mph pitch that doesn't behave like a four seamer. Makes sense.
  5. I believe Lesters average fastball is around 93. You might not describe him as a flame thrower, but I consider that throwing hard. You definitely can't seriously say he is "far from being considered a hard throwing lefty". What do you consider throwing hard? And, would you consider Lester a soft-tossing lefting as opposed to a hard throwing lefty?
  6. I mean, I don't know if you can complain if Johan comes here and performs like Cone or Tiant. Those are pretty impressive names to have on the not-so-impressive half of your comps. To quote manny, thats when you know you are a bad man.
  7. Total revenue for each playoff game played at home during the playoffs usually exceeds a million by a little bit. So, 8 home games, probably around 8 million bucks, plus, being able to run NESN that deep into the playoffs has to bring in a good deal too.
  8. Back to defending this news thread to the death. We can do this, we almost are doing it! Looks like no one forgot their e-ritalin this week!
  9. He very well could have been making light of how Minnesota let him go. You can't tell when you read it on paper. Besides, I know he is great and all but I don't think him and Theo have a lot of back and forth when it comes to offseason moves. Per EEI, the Twins are waiting to see if the Yankees will ever break and open up their offer a little more, but ultimately prefer to deal Santana to the NL. Santana, however, let the team know he would only approve a deal to the AL and wants to stay in the American League, but as we all know, it usually only takes a little monetary incentive and those no-trades drop like flies.
  10. I didn't say he was Mantle, but sure does have Mantle-esque power. If you've ever watched Dunn play for an extended period of time, he hits these streaks where its almost comical how hard he hits the ball.
  11. I think your forgetting a certain 28 year old OBP Machine with Mantle power... Adam Dunn? I like the idea of a Ortiz, Lowell, Dunn in the post-manny era. I don't really think we should spend the money and give the years to Bay, he has a lot of holes, and they were exposed this season. If he fills them, and hes young enough too, and has a monster bounce-back season, then it could look a little better come next offseason.
  12. NEWS! There has actually been a pretty annoying lack of news... I'm kind of pulling for Theo to set a deadline, but who am I.
  13. This is really back tracking, but you'd think the league would crack down on Pierce for being so high when that picture was taken. Look at him! I bet all he can of is his munchies right there.
  14. Er... I live in Framingham now. Ghetto? Please. If you think Framingham is a ghetto that is absolute proof you have never set foot outside of a suburb in your life.
  15. Seriously, I think its a simple concept. This forum could use a heavy dose of E-ritalin. It's like this, news goes beneath this post. Discussion goes in the other one. If we do it right, we'll like it and it will make us all happy. If you wanna talk about whether we should just merge 'em and not do this anymore, make a thread in fights and crap we can do that. When big things like this happen, its good to keep discussion about as organized as possible so people can be easily updated and discussion can progress with the news. This is a big first step, I know, but lets focus our attention spans toward this goal and we'll get 'er done. Seriously though, it really does work a lot better like this.
  16. Yeah, seems like a pretty questionable time to up the demands to include a previously untouchable player. I mean, by all accounts it seemed as if the two sides would reach an agreement as of a couple days ago, it was considered to be a matter of time. This could potentially kill it. When I'm not cramming for a final, I wanna check out the validity of the source. I want to believe the Twins aren't actually that ridiculous to deal with.
  17. This is a Santana News thread. Post in the other thread for discussion. The talk about rzr vs. f% has been taken to another thread. All gone.
  18. News Thread! Thread of news, no re-re-re-posting of the salivating rotation or talk of what we don't wanna give up vice-versa, whatever. And Jacko, no being yourself. We can do this.
  19. I don't think we need to pursue prior. A team with as good a pitching staff as the sox doesn't need to take a flier on a guy like prior who could end up stuggling and/or being hurt. If its a low risk contract, I guess I wouldn't complain it just seems a little extraneous.

    F% vs RZR

I didn't know if you were finished with him or not, I just poked my head up from studying and saw that Johan talked had turned into fielding metics talk... Apparently you had your way with him. Sweet. I tend to think errors are a pretty irrelevant and extremely subjective stat. RZR I think tells the tale a little more accurately though, with defense, I tend to just grab a scouting report and read because there really is no 100% reliable defensive stat.
  21. I've said all along I think Ellsbury and Lester + one of our top ten minor leaguers is more than reasonable. Its a stiff price, sure, but I wouldn't think twice to package that for Santana. Buchholz is the only guy who I would consider off limits.
  22. Try not to re-post old news. Since there is so much news coming from everywhere about Santana a news only thread is probably necessary. Try to keep discussion to a minimum.
  23. I agree. Lets split this baby off. ORS, make a new thread for the arguement. This one will stay a Santana discussion thread and I'll make one for news only. If the arguement continues to spill over into this one, I'll lock it and make a new one or something.
  24. Velocity isn't everything. I like Papelbons FB better because of the movement. 95 with greg maddux lateral movement.
  25. You can't trade picks in baseball.
