  1. You can't really take what a guy has in may and extrapolate that out to a whole season and take yourself seriously. Saying he is currently on pace for about 15 is accurate, but to assume that he will probably have 15 home runs based on two months of playing time when there are still four months and about 110 games left of baseball is a little presumptuous.
  2. I don't think Drew is the problem. I like the good ol' 4-3 put out. The problem is higher up than that. Its Theo. Couldn't agree more with Mr.Williams. People have too much faith in this guy. 2 world series and our first division title since 95 probably could have come a lot sooner. Papi could be wearing a few more rings on his hand had Theo not been around to screw it up by signing guys like Drew.
  3. I'll take the under too. I'm going to go with 2. 2 BB and 7K in 7 innings. 2 ER and a W at the end of the game. Thats my guess. As lucky as he has been, people have been overlooking how dirty he has been along the way too.
  4. Right, a little untimely, but a lightning strike is pretty bad ass and unusual. Happened to the wrong Jeremi though... Jeremy Giambi is sipping a wine cooler in a tanning bed somewhere in so-cal. How is that fair.
  5. I think its a sweet way to go. Definitely a little untimely, but, if I had my choice of ways to go, a lightning strike would sound pretty enticing.
  6. From what I understand it isn't life threatening but he will have it for the rest of his life and have to deal with treatments. Could be a lot worse. The bad news will be if it spreads. I'm sure they will monitor it very well, and since it is slow growing, I imagine they can keep it at bay. Hooray modern medicine.
  7. Lol, i was mostly joking...... mostly.
  8. Daisuke is taking a beating this inning. That what happens I guess when you throw 100 pitches through 5 innings. Someone said he was Nomo v2.0, but I think he has much better stuff than Nomo, and at times, he makes me happy by living on the corners. He doesn't usually miss in the heart of the plate and I really like that, he just makes a habit of missing every where else sometimes. There is definitely more hope for him to put it all together, but arghzhzz.
  9. Can I request the phrase "mac daddy" be added to the board censor?
  10. http://www.mustangmods.com/data/10900/brilliant.jpg Brilliant. Ahem, sorry. I wish I could watch a dicek game, but I'm always at work but maybe that factors into his luck. I must have been the jinx last season. JHB, how are the calls? and how have they been in general this season? I figure you probably have that info offhand.
  11. I remember him making specific prediction about Becketts ERA which was way off. I'm pretty sure I have that bet.
  12. Yeah, and it gets stickers for good behavior.
  13. Hey jacko, remember when I predicted after 06 that in 07 Josh Beckett would go 19-7 with a 3.21 ERA and he went 20-7 with a 3.27 ERA and you never made good on that? Remember that? Cause I do.
  14. ... right. I don't think that ever had anything to do with the point. I don't know if there is a point. Masterson is good, how bout that? EDIT - gameday comes back to life in time for Pap to be a beast.
  15. Right. If you've ever experienced high level competition or practiced a strict discipline of any kind, being told to work on part of your game or craft after what you considered to be a milestone success, it can mess with you a little. In the case of baseball, he probably got sloppy due to over-confidence, but even AA hitters know what they're doing and can take advantage of mistakes etc. Getting sent down to work on secondary pitches is still getting sent down. What he needs to improve are innings at an appropriate level of competition. Double A clearly ain't it. 91 pitches through 6.1 innings of shut out ball at the major league level means you're clearly playing above the heads of your class-AA mates. His AA seasoning should be over.
  16. Maybe I've watch it too many times but did anyone else notice NESN clearly getting Josh Beckett hugging Lester and dropping the F bomb? "Unf***ingbelievable" I love Josh Beckett. All he does is use the F-word.
  17. I don't know if its a psychological break down or being a "pussy" so much as it is being bored or dissappointed with the AA competition after success (however limited) in the major leagues. I think a promotion is definitely in order.
  18. Last night and tonight has been wonderful for all the Theo supporters out there. Our farm system is strong, and I think our future is very very bright. The rest of the AL east was sweating bullets before Monday, now... lol. I am loving every last bit of this. I love Mastersons potential.
  19. Class move on his part. It seems like this organization really takes care of its players, asking Hinske if he would prefer to be traded and play full time some where else. Assuring Cora he would be the highest paid bench player. The examples go on, but I really like how they seem to have built a trust with their players and a reputation among players in general as a classy organization in that respect.
  20. Great to see a favorable prognosis. Best wishes to the kid. Tough news whenever someone gets diagnosed with cancer, but especially someone at his age. The upside of that though is that at a young age he has a great chance to beat it.
  21. Is it kosher for me to move to another room to watch the game or do I have to stay where I am? I'm not big on my rules about that.
  22. It's ok Bill. I got it, and I'm the one who doesn't usually read. It's cool, baby, cool, to quote a hero of mine. Lester is pretty cool right now. I wish I wasn't at work. I might leave early just to watch Lester if he is still cool in like the 7th inning.
  23. Lester is owning the strike zone right now. Did I really just get to say that? Keep it up, kid.
  24. I hope they keep him in the bullpen, i think he has a special arm. thought it since they drafted him. he could be joba.
