  1. its just hard to see anything in Kennedy that leads anyone to be optimistic he will ever be able to get major league hitters out on a consistent basis, unless he ever develops the control of Greg Maddux
  2. Tiger wins. great tournament
  3. I think anyone who knows a baseball from a bowling ball would take the 2006 Jon Lester over the 2008 Ian Kennedy
  4. Lester did struggle early on in his career but I wouldn't compare his 7-2, 4.76 ERA rookie year with Kennedy's 0-3, 7.4something ERA
  5. Dunn misses the FB for the 2nd out
  6. my jaw just dropped. I cant believe Griffey swung on 3-0
  7. he doesn't need to know the Reds well. Johnny Damon could've thrown out Lowell there
  8. seriously, why send Lowell home? when did Send 'Em Sveum come back? theyre absolutely killing Weathers right now
  9. goddamnit, Drew just misses another HR
  10. you'd think in their pre-game prep, they'd see that he only had 7 steals last year and 6 so far this year. Granted, the guy isn't Kevin Youkilis but speed isn't really one of his tools
  11. good to see Youk with some productivity considering the 140 friends and family he has in attendance today
  12. During a lot of out of town telecasts I see, the conversation usually comes up about how the Sox have changed their makeup in recent years to incorporate more speed into their game and they run down the list of guys like Ellsbury, Coco, Lugo and they usually include Pedroia, as Brenneman did today
  13. Rotoworld I know the name of Trot Nixon isn't very relevant to baseball fans anymore but the guy was my favorite Sock for a good time and it's hard not to root for him. It's too bad his final Sox appearance was that rained out 5 inning Devern Hansack "no hitter" against the O's in 2006 but in the end, it's nice to see him going to a team who will give him playing time
  14. why does Pedroia seem to have a reputation as a burner with most non-NESN commentators?
  15. wow, very heads up play by Wakefield
  16. Jayhawk brings up a good point. Making off-hand (sometimes dumb) comments are part of Papelbon's makeup and that's also part of what makes him a hell of a closer. So, you pretty much gotta take the good with the bad
  17. Papelbon says Red Sox still owe Rays for brawl - ESPN.com I love the budding rivalry going on between these two teams but it's pretty stupid for Papelbon to open his mouth considering this will perk up MLB's ears in the Sox direction the next time these two teams hook up.
