  1. Canada outscored their opponents 47-2 for the entire tournament. LOL.
  2. Slovakia scares me simply because goaltending is the great equalizer in a tournament like this. But the one area I think Canada can take advantage is in Jaroslav Halak's tendency to give up rebounds which I see often since he's a Hab. With Canada's size, they should be able to get a few dirty goals.
  3. Do you know how many players would LOVE for their GM to stick his neck out on the line publicly to stick up for a player? But all told, whenever the issue of "so what's next?" comes up with a veteran player, the "I'd love to retire here" line is uttered the majority of the time....unless it's Manny Ramirez of course.
  4. So the semi-finals look like this: USA plays the winner of Finland and the Czech Republic Friday at 3pm eastern. Canada plays the winner of Sweden and Slovakia Friday at 9:30pm eastern.
  5. Russia's defense was a widely known weakness going into the tourney. I had a feeling that would be exposed once they faced a great puck possession team but not to this extent.
  6. oh......my.......God I've been watching hockey a long time and that might very well be the best period of hockey I've ever seen a team play considering how good the opponent is.
  7. I predict Drury will score the GWG, he's got a knack for these things.
  8. and... it lead me to believe there was at least a small sense of surprise here that we won in a shootout.
  9. Are you guys starting to understand why it took us a shootout to beat Switzerland?
  10. Fleury hasn't had his best season though and yea he won the cup last year but let's be honest, that Penguins team was a pretty good bet to win if Luongo was playing for them instead.
  11. He's been on bad NHL teams his entire career but... 2003 World Championships - Won the gold medal game for Canada 2004 World Cup of Hockey - Stopped 37 of 40 shots in the semi-final for Canada 2004 World Championships - Starting goalie as Canada won gold is that enough big moments?
  12. Losing it how? We'd won the previous 5 tourneys in a row.
  13. If you guys like this, you'd really love the World Junior Hockey Championships which is a MASSIVE deal here in Canada when the tourney starts every Boxing Day but unless any of you guys have a satellite dish that gets TSN, I don't think you're able to see it.
  14. If he can locate his FB and throw his curve for strikes, it doesn't matter that he doesn't have a great third pitch, he's unhittable.
  15. I read from some Sox writer on Twitter this morning that Dice-K has gone from 24% body fat last ST to 17% this year. Shocked that he can get away with having 24% body fat.
  16. I'd be more interested in how Dice-K's back feels tomorrow morning as opposed to immediately after playing catch
  17. The only chance we have is if Luongo starts instead of Brodeur, who s*** the bed yesterday.
  18. The Blue Jays signed Jose Molina. The ghost of Gom would now consider them the favorites to win the ALE
  19. I guess at this point it wouldn't be a great shock if Wakefield started the season on the DL
  20. All I ask.....is to win the Mayor's Cup
  21. I believe the season is shorter and more spaced out in Japan and that they also use 6-man rotations.
  22. First off, it's Fox reporting this. Secondly, they cover their own asses with their "it could be a case of Boston "routinely [exploring] free-agent possibilities late in the offseason, trying to ensure that they do not miss any potential bargains."" line. It isn't happening.
  23. I'd probably say the bullpen since I don't fully trust Bard yet and both MDC and Ramon dropped off a bit in the second half. The team can win with Ortiz slumping a bit and Dice-K being somewhat ineffective but if the 'pen doesn't perform, that's a much bigger blow.
  24. The men's moguls last night was crazy. Alexandre Bilodeau giving Canada it's first-ever gold medal on home soil.
