  1. I'm getting more and more upset with Lowell. He himself admits that his hip has hampered his mobility yet still makes subtle comments about how he's upset with the Red Sox for replacing him and trying to unload him.
  2. I personally think that title is overrated but I'll say Lester
  3. The bottom line with the goaltending situation is that when $8.2 million of your cap is being spent on goaltenders, $5 mil of which is the backup, that's a problem.
  4. I would actually take Youk over Gonzo when factoring in Youk's positional versatility
  5. It's nothing against Ference cause he's a nice player but he plays a role that should be filled by a guy making a third of what Ference will make.
  6. LOL, another stupid contract. It isn't quite on the level of the Thomas or Ryder deal though.
  7. BTW, sources from the Globe and WEEI are saying Pedroia is fine, X-rays negative and he should play Friday.
  8. It's the episode where he approaches Susan with the idea of moving back the wedding date so she starts crying uncontrollably, forcing George to do whatever it takes to put out the fire and agree to keep the date as is. But then George himself starts crying in an effort to push the date back, which works, thus completely sacrificing his self-respect.
  9. I'd call it more a chance for Joba to re-establish his status as one of the best young pitchers in baseball. Reviving a career is when the feeling is that he's a bust but gets an opportunity to contribute to a team. I wouldn't say the Yankees have given up hope with Joba by a long shot.
  10. Isn't it a relative wash though? Hughes: Sucked as a starter, thrived in the pen. Joba: Thrived in the pen, sucked as a starter.
  11. I can just imagine them making a paper mache shell of his twig & berries to form the cup.
  12. And whether it is appropriate to use an adjective like "quality" to Javier Vazquez remains to be seen as well, hence the debate. Because if they get 2004 Vazquez, then "porous" becomes a more fitting adjective to put in front of "4th starter".
  13. It's so hard to believe because even if Montero is the catcher for the next 10 years, Mauer becomes a hell of a backup catcher/DH. Furthermore, even if you did believe that.... ....then you'd have to have been against the Yankees signing Sabathia, Teixeira and Burnett in the same off-season.
  14. He won't be a nobody but the expectation is that Buchholz could be a high 3s-low 4s ERA pitcher while my personal expection for Vazquez is a low 4s-mid 4s ERA pitcher.
  15. Here were the five options for Joe Mauer, in order of my personal preference: 1. He signs with Boston. 2. He stays with Minny. 3. He retires to write a book about sideburns at his shack in the woods. 4. He signs somewhere else. 5. He signs with the Yankees. Anyone differing with #1 (besides Yankee fans of course) isn't really being honest, regardless of how much they care about the health of the game. No Boston fans were crying when Pedro came here from Montreal.
  16. From that article... Well that's interesting...
  17. Would there have been any sort of legal ramifications if the Sox released Varitek this spring or at some point during the season? I wouldn't think so but otherwise, what's the point of a player option?
  18. I personally think the Sox FO expected more from Beckett to this point to give him the kind of contract he's looking for so that's where I think problems will arise.
  19. wow, did someone really refer to jizz as "knuckle children"? epic.
  20. Really? What else did he tell you during that private, heart to heart conversation the two of you had?
  21. A little more confirmation... Rotoworld
