To me, it doesn't matter whether he lied when he said he "only" used it for three years. He lied to Couric when he said he never used, he got caught and he fessed up. In the court of public opinion, it doesn't matter whether he used for three years or whether he's used from his rookie season up until now.

in a way, it's sad that if a baseball player trained hard one off-season and added 10-15 pounds of muscle, there will be a group who will suspect them of wrongdoing

No, we don't. But I'd be highly skeptical to believe they caught him after he stuck just one syringe into his ass. The treatment he gets from the general public and media won't be as bad simply because he hasn't broken any records and he isn't the ******* Barry is but I'm looking forward to seeing the reaction when he starts approaching Bonds' mark
