  1. I hope not. Think beer and chicken are bad? Ask the 2002 Mets front office how Bobby Valentine handled that club and how it worked out for them.
  2. John Lackey??? Who the f*** is that? I think I know of a guy by that name, he was absolutely terrible, and management MADE him seek like 4 opinions of the TJ surgery before he had it.....so they could bury him and his name would never be spoken of again. Same guy?
  3. SCM33, iortiz and a700 are all the same person, thats why. MUHAHAHAHA.
  4. Just think, even with these added wildcards, the Sox STILL would have missed the playoffs this year..... 7 weeks, no pieces added, still looking for a manager. Third place.
  5. Its not about whether or not Valentine is the right guy for the job. They named BC GM, and he interviewed potential managers for almost 7 weeks. For 7 weeks he was trying to make sure he made the right decision. Well, after 7 weeks BC makes a decision, and ownership shits all over it telling him everything he did over the last 7 weeks was a f***ing waste of time. Right after they s*** on his decision it comes out that Valentine, who has met with LL over the off season will be coming in for an interview. Embarrassing if you are BC.
  6. -from wiki The move back, I dont understand. Wont this create schedule conflicts?
  7. Its embarrassing. If I am BC I tell them to shove this job up their ass. Same old s***, same old stooges running it. What the f***s the point of a GM if they are just going to do what they want anyway? Think about this......his FIRST important decision as GM was vetoed by Larry Luchinno. If I am BC I walk away from this circus act.
  8. Any manager who is forceful enough to stand up to Cherington and Lucchino will have a short stay here. We need a guy the players listen to and respect, thats it.
  9. still praying for Sandy Alomar Jr.
  10. Please pick Sandy Alomar Jr. Please.......I will forgive the whole Papelbon thing as long as Alomar is named manager.

  12. Thats kinda the point I was making though. You are almost ALWAYS paying based on passed performance. Papelbon is no different.
  13. So what exactly do you call the signing of Bobby Jenks, Lackey, Cameron...... Players ask for money based on past performance......notice I did not include Crawford, as they were paying for past performance as well as projected performance. Papelbon is 31 and has never missed significant time and has had only a single season where you could call it a down year.......you are paying for past performance AS WELL as projected performance.
  14. Nope, wrong. I still think they should have signed Jason Bay, even when hindsight shows that it would have been a terrible mistake. When closer by committee/Madsen/Lidge/Bard fails, everyone around here criticizing us will look at it and say the same s*** you just said....bumping their chests saying, "see. shoulda signed Paps!!"
  15. I can bitch about it, because they NEVER keep the guys here who prove they can play here. Just look at the rotating door which is SS. Instead, they sign the Julio Lugo's of the world and trade for the Coco Crisps. Heres a spoiler for you. Jacoby Ellsbury, your little talksox username......will be the next to leave when his deal is up, they aint paying for him either. You are really comparing Papelbon to John Lackey, Dice-K and Julio Lugo?? *head explodes*
  16. 20 million for a slap-hitting speedy outfielder is? 17 million for a fatass overrated AL west pitcher is? If the sox can pay those guys, they can pay their own. Papelbon didnt need to be reasonable, they sox have been lowballing him with 1 year deals for 3 years. Good for you Papelbon, you went to a team that wanted you....a team that deserved you more than us.....they showed you that.
  17. Wheres the link jung?......... This is what pisses me off, they didnt even try: "We never made an offer, haven't made an offer to this point," Cherington said. "We have had a lot of discussions with Sam and Seth [Levinson, Papelbon's agents], about the concepts. To this point, it's been clear that where we see it, what we'd be willing to do at this point in the offseason -- given what our other needs are and given what we feel the alternatives are -- is not something that matched up with what Pap was looking for. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20111111&content_id=25957590&vkey=news_mlb&c_id=mlb
  18. Yeah, look at all those top name starting pitchers weve signed thus far. Look at those rumors fly out there about possible FA targets. While other teams are signing our players away from us, were still looking for a god damn manager. Talk about having priorities mixxed up, a f***ing monkey could be a baseball manager, they only do what their told to do from upstairs anways.... It sucks that we cant "pay out the ass" for a closer because we are a poor team. We have to be careful with our money. If the redsox signed players to contracts like the one John Lackey got, or Carl Crawford got....they would be crippled!!! Wait.....we are the idiots that gave those guys albatross contracts.....because we can afford it. Dont make excuses for them. They could have paid the f***ing guy and went out there and got starting pitching. Its not like other teams are thinning the SP market and its not like weve been close to signing one.
  19. This organization is in a pathetic state these days. Hey Ben, stop worrying about hiring the next puppet and fix the f***ing team. People called me crazy for wanting to blow it up, because this team won 90 games and was the best team in baseball for a month stretch. Well, if Ortiz doesnt come back we can subtract 6 wins from their total last year. Right now they go 84-78. Make a decision Ben. Either fix it, or rebuild....your move.
  20. I remember him. He could have been a productive player for us (if not for the bad car accident he was in), though he was out of a position. He was too slow and fat for the OF and Mo Vaughn was around the corner. Without looking, I remember him not being a very good 1B and Mo actually beat him out for the starting job in 93. JD Drew made a lot of money and it is arguable whether or not he was worth it when you weigh the amount of time he missed in to the equation. The biggest problem with Drew was that he was a pussy and treated baseball as a job, rather than a game which pisses people off. Ive said before......I dont give a s*** that hes gone....I wont miss him, but if he were around for another year.....I would show the same emotion....couldnt care less. Its maddening that he once had HOF all around talent and never quite reached the accolades he could have.
