  1. Another 5 ER today for Bard with 3 more walks in only 5 innings of work. Hes been un-hittable this spring huh? Damn he looks good.
  2. No. Jenks likes beer. Joba's family is more of a crystal meth type.
  3. Craig Hansen wasn't screwed up, he just wasnt that good. He had plenty of chances. At no point in 95 game pitching career did he look like he belonged, and his mechanics were terrible to boot. Plenty of players are brought up too early and then find themselves, just look at Roy Halladay. Cla Meredith gave up a grandslam and lost his first decision in relief and he went on to be productive for a couple seasons at least. If Craig Hansen was screwed up because he lacked mental toughness, then he was never going to succeed to begin with.
  4. Baseball manager is the most overrated coaching position in sports. If the players dont like you, they will tank and get your ass out of town like they did to Tito last year. Either way the players are getting guaranteed money regardless of the outcome. The manager however, is on the chopping block just about every year. A baseball manager in the American League fills out the lineup card and manages the bullpen. Thats all they do. Drinking in the clubhouse is not the managers fault, its the players fault. A baseball manager is like politics. They walk a thin line, because if they flex their muscles too much the players will bring him down and he will be replaced. He is just a number.
  5. Nope. If the whole thing was smoke and mirrors, then why didn't they address their starting rotation in the off-season other than Padilla and Cook? Bard is not a starter, because hes not a starter. You think the team is better off with Bard working as a starting pitcher at the AAA level after hes already proven to be more than effective as a middle reliever/setup guy? In the end, the front office f***ed this thing up by not having a backup plan other than Doubront, Cook and Padilla battling for the final spots in the rotation. It was a terrible plan to start with. They did nothing to address their holes in the rotation and bullpen.
  6. Are you really surprised? They did nothing to upgrade their rotation and weakened their BP this offseason. Now Melancon looks like dog s*** and we have to move Bard back to the pen. If Melancon continues to look like dog s***, Aceves will also remain in the pen. #4 and #5 will be Padilla and Doubront. Yay!!!! Oh, and for good measure Salty has looked like s*** and we still dont have a SS. Offseason plan.......fail.
  7. Based on the fact that I was right. Hes not a starting pitcher. Experiment over, Experiment failed.
  8. Yeah. I said he is not a starting pitcher in reply before this... Hes also not a closer. Closers have nerves of steel and are able to turn the page after a bad outing. Bard is neither of those. Bard is a middle reliever. Hes not a starting pitcher, hes not a closer, hes a setup/middle reliever. It's not a put down......hes damn good at it when his role is defined as such. No pressure, come in to the game with the lead with no runners on base.
  9. Bowden sucks. Not sure if he is out of options, but if he is....who cares. Hes a roster filler. Albers is terrible too. Just cut them, those two serve no purpose other than taking up spots on the 40 man roster. Just get rid of them.
  10. Bard wont be in the rotation long, not because of spring training performance.....but because he is not a starting pitcher. Whether people like it or not, Padilla will make the team.....and Padilla will be in the rotation. The other spot......is Bard's until either Aceves or Doubront outpitch him.
  11. Yeah, your Chargers just got 1 or maybe 2 games worse. Here is the breakdown when you have Norv Turner as your head coach: Superior Team. Should win 13+ games. Norv Turner wins 11. Above average team. Should win 10-12 games. Norv Turner wins 9. Average team. Should win 8-9 games. Norv Turner finishes below .500.
  12. Padilla looked good today so Im not so sure why he didnt impress you. Good velocity, great snap to his pitches and kept the ball low. His first inning out there he labored because of am error that lead off an inning and a hit an run where the hitter hit the ball off of the ground. It was a flukey. People read wayyy too much in to spring training performances. Dont look at the results, look at what they're doing and how they look doing it.
  13. Cheated. Just like Manny did. Just like Ortiz was accused of. The only difference is, Pettitte admitted to it. He admitted he cheated.
  14. I liked it, I dont think Id go again though. The whole "live" aspect of it actually sucks. There is a lot of down time during commercial breaks and if you blink, its over.
  15. Thus ending the nonsense about a marginally talented OF who cant hit or do anything else besides catching fly balls making the team. Thank god.
  16. Except that he cheated and he cant cheat anymore and nobody knows how long he was cheating. Its clear now the "whole year off" was because he was either embarrassed and knew he was caught/was going to get caught and couldn't pass a drug test. Besides the whole cheating thing, hes good to go.
