Are you really going to argue this? They've had 3 games. They've blown 3 saves. Doesn't matter how you look at it, it happened.

My attitude would probably pretty much the same. I've maintained the same stance throughout. I don't get too high or low. I just say it how I see it. Unfortunately there aren't many positives talk about.

Nope. Just third place…just like last year and the year before that. People around here want to ignore the fact that they finished in third place two straight years and out of the playoffs. This team had question marks coming in, they have less talent than they did last year and they have given up 23 runs over the last 2 games and have managed to blow 3 saves in 3 games.

I'd rather just get blown out. Losses like today just further cement the fact that we have nobody to get the outs that mean something at the end of games.

But wait! They were great last year remember? Losing Papelbon and Bard to the rotation won't make a difference. They replaced them with Bailey and Melancon. They're all set!

Well......not happy with it, but expect more of this Beckett. He already has his excuses rolled out. No Varitek, bad thumb....and soon, the blisters. I said it all offseason. Need more pitching. Need to trade Beckett. Need a SS. Need a catcher. Its not the end of the season, anyone to say that is way too reactionary. The red flags should be raised, half staff minimum. If Buccholz gives us a good game and the pen blows it, and we lose with our 4 and 5's.....the writing will pretty be much on the wall. At that point changes will HAVE to be made since they refused to do anything in the offseason. Either that, or we will see what the FO's plan is for this team.

What did you expect? He is a 3rd or 4th of. He is Gabe Kapler.

No, but they should have added other arms to make up the difference. Now not only is the competent closer out injured (shocker, after missing 100 games over the last 2 years) but the rest of the pen looks very weak. It was a penny pinching move that on the surface, has already failed. At this point.....they have replaced Papelbon and Bard with Melancon.
