Yeah. A #3 starter is solid, which is what he is. A very overpaid #3. For a team with the Redsox payroll: #1 needs to be elite. #2 needs to be excellent. #3 needs to be solid. #4 needs to be solid. #5 needs to to be average/dependable.

What good is ability if hes only shown it in 3 outta his 7 seasons here?

Well, those two were professionals. Curt Schilling kept detailed records of every pitch he ever threw. Both were incredible competitors and extremely intense. Both of those guys had HOF worthy careers (though Clemens prob. has no shot at it now w/the whole steroid thing). Beckett needs a binky to do all of his homework for him. He only gets 18 days off a year (straight out of his mouth) so he will be damned if he is going to go the extra mile and do some scouting on his own. Dont compare Roger Clemens and Curt Schilling to Josh Beckett. Its not even close. Beckett is a middle of the rotation pitcher whose career has been a disappointment considering the talent he has/had.
