Yes.
Again, baseball managers are the most overrated position in professional sports.
All they need to do is manage the clubhouse. Good players lead to good wins, simple as that in baseball. Not much strategy. There aren't gameplans outside of a starting pitchers scope. A guys tired....give him the night off. A lefty is pitching, start a righty...or pinch hit later on. A lefty is up to the plate...bring in a lefty pitcher. Need a run late in the game....move the runners along.
Not many "good" teams ended up sucking because of a manager. The 1992 Mets come to mind....the Bobby Bonilla, Vince Coleman, Eddie Murray, Howard Johnson, Anthony Young disaster of 92.
Basketball coaches deal with substitutions, timeouts, fouls and drawing up plays as well as establishing offensive and defensive systems. They also have to deal with the thugs that play in the NBA as well as the seflish divas.
Hockey coaches deal with mixing and matching lines to suit players abilities, offensive and defensive systems, juggling goaltenders. Hockey coaches are a step up from baseball managers.
NFL coaches.....not even close. Those guys do way too much to list, and if you dont get it turned around in 2 years, your looking for a new job. NFL coach is the most important coaching position in all of sports, just look at BB. He was the head coach AND the defensive coordinator as well as the general manager.
