On a night when he seems capable of throwing strikes, it makes absolutely zero sense to not throw them to Mr Noodlebat. Quit going 3-0 and 3-1 to their second best player.

Not really. The plate has been wide on the other side, but inside to lefties/outside to righties has been tight.

Don't see it. Best recruiter? Easily. Best coach? Possibly, but not hands down. There's a team that has not lost a regular season game in almost 3 years with significantly less talent (albeit against significantly lesser opponents) whose coach deserves some recognition in the "best coach in college football" discussion, IMO. Especially when you watch Peterson's team play. Excellent game plan, and their execution/dicipline always seems to be fantastic. Hate 'em if you must as the BCS buster they threaten to be just about every year, but Boise St has something going on.

Mallett was pretty bad in this game. Actually, very bad. Three picks that were totally on him, one in the endzone, killing a drive, the one that set up the go ahead score, and the one that ended the game. End hype.

Texas getting spanked by a weak, unranked PAC-10 team in their house, and the Hogs are exposing the 'Bama D. Didn't see either of those things happening.

The problem with this post is that it treats the trade deadline like it is an absolute deadline. Sure, if you look at July 31 and only July 31, then it should be one or the other, and I agree that at that time #2 is not a valid defense. However, trades occur during the waiver trading period in August, and commentary about what they should/shouldn't do continued into that time frame. Early you heard #1, #1 didn't come true and Youkilis went down, then you heard #2. This is how I remember the discussions going. EDIT: I didn't see that Kilo actually referenced the deadline. However, since the comment smells like a blanket indictment of the two rationales, I'll let this stand. If it was meant for a response to Kilo, and Kilo only, I retract it. -

It's been a decade, or longer, since they've had a legit national contender. Yes, they been ranked high before, but they've been exposed every time they get a high ranking. Enough already.

How long will it take to get Notre Lame out of the national spotlight? There's nothing compelling about them at this point, and they play a schedule filled with uninteresting opponents. The next three weeks should be interesting for 'Bama. At #12 Arkansas on 9/25, home against #10 Florida on 10/2, at #13 South Carolina on 10/9. If they can clear the slate through those 3 games, I think they'd have a legit case to be a 1 loss team (should they lose one later in the year) that gets in over an undefeated Boise State at the end of the year.

That game is coma inducing. Switch it over to ESPN and watch Clemson vs Auburn. Harper and Ellington are on my draft board at this point.
