  1. No, he hasn't. However, when you are 20/22, and one team is responsible for both, it's safe to say that you are having problems with them.
  2. I have to give ARod some credit. At least he feels strongly enough to want to represent "some" country, unlike Sheffield who "plays when he gets paid to play". Let him go. There's no shortage of American infield talent.
  3. We get Redding and May......is it Christmas?
  4. You need to put these on before talking to some people in here....... http://www.tolland.k12.ct.us/techservices/RoseColoredGlasses.gif they are ROSE COLORED!!!
  5. Gordon=Timlin. Rivera is the best closer going right now, but Schilling is a huge X-factor. If he's healthy and on his game, he will be formidable. I think it really comes down to middle-relief. Sturtze and Proctor are hard throwing righties, which is the type of pitcher the Sox lineup hits best. Most of the Sox troubles have come against lefties and junk-ballers with control. Halama, Embree, and Myers can work the lefties, and maybe squeeze a few more outs against the back end of the lineup. Bradford is good for situational outs against righties. Whichever middle-relief shows up with their 'A' game for this series will be key. Of course, any one of the starters going could deliver 8 quality innings.
  6. Matsui's a lefty that doesn't strikeout much. Not a good combination for Arroyo.
  7. I think you are seeing way to much into that quote. I think he was just marvelling at how Ortiz is able to perform in clutch situations. As in, it's pretty "weird" that the pressure doesn't get to him.
  8. Schilling obviously needed to make 55,001 Yankees fans shut up.
  9. Hey Kevin, here's a thought. Want more playing time? Try playing better, nobody OWES you anything.
  10. Fact of the matter is, if Sheffield were on the Sox, ARod2212 would be calling him the bane of all existance, while some idiot in here would be defending him. He's a schmuck, plain and simple. The only people who have ever defended him were some of the fans of the team he is on or his friends and family.
  11. Miller. He seems a little snake-bit to me. He hasn't pithced poorly, just a couple of rocky starts. No run support in a couple of outings. Games he handed off to the bullpen with a small lead only to let all the inherited runners in.
  12. Gary runs his mouth, always has..... http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Sheffie...ffield_bio.html Read it and know your enemy.
  13. The fans carry the grudge, not the players.
  14. If you knew we couldn't go in there and win the series, why leave the possibility of a tie in your prediction? Maybe because like everyone else in here you don't know what is going to happen. Spare us your "homer" predictions......especially when you don't own up to them after you are wrong.....and you have been.....OFTEN.
  15. I think they have the advantage with their arms on the mound, while we have better hitters top-bottom. As is usually the case regarding AL vs. NL.
  16. Ladies and gentlemen, it gives me no pleasure to introduce.......Beavis and Butthead.
  17. Don't hurt your arms patting yourselves on the back.
  18. My problem with Sheff has never been his intensity or ability. It's his attitude: http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/Sheffield/Sheffield_bio.html Enjoy the read.
  19. Soxie, I think you need to make peace with the idea of Mark not playing next year. He's either going to go elsewhere via free-agency/trade, or he's going to lose the job to Pedroia in spring training. I'm putting money on him leaving, most likely through a trade. He's just not that valuable an asset on the bench. He can't be relied on to pinch hit. While his defense is serviceable, he's not versatile enough to be a middle-infield bench player. In other words, he can't play short that well.
  20. On redsox.com they have story about the performance. In it they list his stuff as mid-90's FB, cutter, curve, change.
  21. Sounds like he's ready for 3A ball.
  22. And he's not even their ace, wait until they get Bedard back. You know how well we hit hard throwing lefties.
  23. No need to appologize, I thought the same thing when I looked at their offensive production stats. So, I decided to dig a little deeper and see if there was a downside.
  24. Not saying wouldn't work, just saying it won't happen.
  25. You missed a stat that is very important when regarding the frequency of a player striking out. How are the non-strikeout outs made? Hudson has 104 ground-outs to Bellhorns 48. That makes the double-play more likely. Thus far Bellhorn has had 92 AB's with a runner on first and has grounded into 4 DP's, while Hudson has 86 AB's with 6 DP's.
