  1. Got out of it. Wake leads the league in sphincter-spasm-inducing moments as far as I'm concerned.
  2. It would be nice if once, just once, our SP's could get the lead and allow no runs in the next half inning. Its almost become like clockwork. If we score in the bottom half, they will score in the top of the next inning. JUST ONCE!!!!
  3. Lackey needs to check his calendar because he must think its Christmas with all the gifts we've gotten this inning.
  4. That works. Lackey can't find the plate.
  5. I like what I'm seeing from Wake tonight. Waiter, runs please.
  6. Stellar glovework from Billy Baseball on the line-drive.
  7. Manny has looked awful that last couple of weeks.
  8. Are you all really so jaded by the rivalry that you can only find room in your hearts for backhanded compliments when a player does something like this? Is it truly necessary to include the fact that you can't stand Curt despite his charitable work? If the answer is yes to either of these questions, then I am forced to do nothing other than question your motivation for being here. It gives me the impression that you aren't here for intellectual debate about baseball and the Sox/Yankees rivalry, but that you are here to poke, prod, and incite anger. And if you are incapable of dropping those intentions in the light of someone doing some good for his fellow man, then I truly feel sorry for you because you have lost your humanity and have brought shame upon yourself in a very ugly way.
  9. He was to throw long toss on either Friday or Saturday (which I think he did) and be reevaluated on Tuesday.
  10. I am too. You can see a real progression in his starts. KC was just plain bad. TB had a strong late stretch. And yesterday, despite the final statistical line, was the best he has looked. Its still a work in progress, but the trend is headed in the right direction.
  11. On an 0-2 count, 95% percent of pitches are out of the strikezone. Some are off the plate, but most are out of the zone up or out of the zone down, leaving you and the hitter a 50% chance of guessing correct. Tek calls a good game. And CS% is a function of more than just his ability. The pitcher on the mound is a variable in that equation too. When Arroyo is pitching, runners have a lower success rate because Bronson does a good job holding them and is quick to the plate. When its Wake, most of the pitches are coming in around 67-74 mph, and he has a slow move to home.
  12. He hasn't mastered the change, so I wouldn't count it yet. Even if he does pick up a 3rd plus pitch, the farm system has 3 possible front end starters (your username obviously) and the resources to add in the FA market. Delcarmen, Meredith, and Martinez could all prove to be very effective relievers and setup men, but I think SU is their ceiling. I'm concerned about command with all three of these pitchers. Hansen's control, to this point, seems to be in another league. He'll work ahead in the count more often and will allow less free passes. That aspect added to his stuff screams closer to me.
  13. I disagree. The Yankees won 4 WS in 5 years because they had someone who could shut the door just about every time. He's a 2-pitch pitcher with excellent control and velocity, which is the prototype for a closer.
  14. I posted this post over in the "Schilling's 2nd Start" thread, but since we have to create a new thread for each one of his starts, nobody read it. I thought some of you might find this interesting. Some of you may have heard in the media that Curt was posting on a Sox board last year. The board was SoSH (sonsofsamhorn.com). I registered to read the threads over there (I'm not a full member because I didn't feel like submitting an "application" email). I guess Curt is still making a few posts over there because I found this late Friday night after the first O's game: It was in a thread called "Let's talk about Curt Schilling".
  15. In July and August, Barry Zito has gone 8-2 with a 2.32 era in 12 starts.
  16. CG win for Boomah! Cheer's everyone. Sox win!
  17. Lopez gets caught looking. Uno mas.
  18. Wells strikes out Byrnes.... http://lygo.com/ly/wg/e/ss/simpson28.jpg ehh-xcellent.
  19. You seem to be bitching as much as he does. If he should accept your reaction as just desserts, then you should too. Live and let live.
  20. Pawtuckett has only a couple of games left on their schedule, and Petagine has stayed up since they called him up because he is out of options (meaning they can't send him down with risking losing him).
  21. Yeah, but in Olerud's last game before today he homered twice. They are both hot. His 3-run shot today proves it.
  22. Damon, pay attention, but good stuff, 5-0.
  23. Da da, duh da DAH....I'm lovin' it!
