The stronger the hands the further the ball is going to go. We ended every day in the gym doing wrist curls (wrists back and wrists forward) to improve hand strength.
ARod2212, I agree with you about Giambi's resurgence being due mainly to improved mechanics. I don't think the mechanics are making him hit the ball any farther. The fact that he is making solid contact more often than he was before is why he's hitting more out IMO. He's just seeing the ball better now.
While I agree with you there, I don't agree with your assessment that his size is unchanged. Look at the photos. His forearms are much bigger in the one from today's game. I've spent a bit of time in the gym between playing sports and the Marines. It takes a lot of work to gain that much size on that part of your body.
Is it due to something other than hard work? I don't know and don't care to speculate. I don't know how much weight he lost or when he was able to resume his weight training.
Portland won the deciding game 5 tonight over the Trenton Thunder, 9-2. Ramirez, Moss, West, and Youngbauer all hit one out.
Wade Miller used tonight's game as his rehab start.
2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
Hansen pitched a perfect 9th.
If you want to go on believing that the team with the best regular season record is the best team, then I won't try and dissuade you from that notion. I will say this though. I have seen too many teams compile the best record with a little smoke and mirrors, so I prefer to look at the lineups and pitching staffs when I make that decision.
That's ********, otherwise you would admit that the Sox were a better team than a team they swept. The White Sox will have home field advantage in this year's AL playoffs. Will they be the best team in the AL? I'd place them as the 4th maybe 5th best.
The Yankees competed in both of those series. And, while what MC says about 9/10 times the better team winning is true, the 1/10 usually occurs when the other team has good pitchers in a short series, which is exactly what happened to the Yankees.
When Seattle won 110+ games they lost to the Yankees (the better team).
As far as last years series goes, the Cardinals got swept. Williams/Morris/Haren/Suppan vs. Wakefield/Schilling/Martinez/Lowe.......I can't believe you are actually trying to argue this point. Just another example of you being unable to look beyond your bias.
It must have rained today because the slugs are out thick as thieves.
Also, there are several threads questioning Francona's managing style, so why not just add your rant to one of those? We don't need useless new threads.
Getting a little tired of that mantra?
I kid. I can respect a thick-and-thin fan that looks for a positive light no matter what. Although, I'm struggling to find some spin for my Redskins despite their win today.
Carnell "Cadillac" Williams had a nice debut for TB in a 24-13 win over Minnesota.
27 for 148, 1 TD
Culpeper turned the ball over 4 times. 2-picks, 2-fumbles
Or you could put down the crackpipe and realize that Tito put as many RH bats in against one of the pitchers with the biggest career RH batter vs. LH batter splits.
