  1. He escapes. Playoffs are set. The only variable left is if the Yankees can come back for homefield.
  2. Cubs have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Lidge is threatening to blow a 2nd straight save.
  3. Contreras has had a great 2nd half, but he's also very familiar to our hitters. When they are on, just like the Yankees, it doesn't matter who is on the hill. The game 1 pitching matchup definitely favors them, but anything can happen.
  4. Houston is 3 outs away. 6-4 into the 9th.
  5. I think the pitching matchups are going to look something like this: Game 1: Contreras vs. Clement Game 2: Buehrle vs. Wells Game 3: Garcia vs. Wake Game 4: Garland vs. Schilling
  6. Houston is 5 outs away from winning the WC.
  7. Interesting thing to note. The Rangers aren't playing Soriano and Teixeira, Blalock, Young, and Barajas have been subbed for.
  8. Nothing but good things for the Yankees yesterday, but today is looking good for us. If the Angels hold on and we win this game, then they will have to travel to the west coast to start the playoffs.
  9. Good outing for Curt. He can still bring it in a big game. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some wholesale exchanges once that CLE/CWS goes final, especially in a 6-0 game.
  10. Washington's kicker boinked the left upright from 47 yards in a 17-17 game against Seattle. Overtime.
  11. Tribe gets nothing in the 8th. Three outs left. 3-1, ChiSox.
  12. It's nice having his bat so hot going into the playoffs.
  13. Nice Billy Ballgame. At the same time, ChiSox end the 7th still up 3-1. Six more outs for the Tribe.
  14. I'm sure it's just preventative.
  15. AFLAC!!! http://www.cureusdesigns.com/files/d24a.jpg We need some insurance.
  16. ChiSox are clearing the bench. Pierzynski out, Iguchi out, Dye out. Fine, just hold the lead.
  17. Two good plays with the sacks full. Got a run though.
  18. The Tribe scored on back-to-back doubles. They still have a runner on 2nd with no outs.
  19. McCarthy ends the 5th with runners on 2nd and 3rd for the Tribe. It's still 3-0. He's thrown 97 pitches, and I doubt he'll go another. Let's hope the ChiSox BP can hold the line.
  20. Better inning. Let's go lumberyard.
  21. Curt finally got the ball down during Matsui's AB. He escaped. Hopefully he can settle now.
  22. That could be huge factor in the management of today's game. If they have it wrapped up by the 4th/5th inning, then that could mean more rest for both of our teams. Makes your shot at homefield a little easier too.
  23. Here's what happened: The Red Sox are not well rounded baseball team. When you are one dimensional, ie great offense but inconsistent pitching, you can have a rough stretch when that one dimension struggles a little, like our offense did for most of September. The White Sox are the same way. They had a 15 game lead that shrunk to 1 game at one point when their one dimension, their pitching, struggled during a 4 week stretch. But if we play motherf***ing balls baseball from here on out, then we have a shot.
  24. Win and you're in. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
