  1. As I typed that, the 1B ump missed the tag on Podsednik that got him on the pick-off move. Then he steals and scores. It's not getting any better for the Halos.
  2. Regarding the Cano call; from the official rules page at mlb.com. Rule Section 7.09 (k) In running the last half of the distance from home base to first base while the ball is being fielded to first base, he runs outside (to the right of) the three foot line, or inside (to the left of) the foul line and, in the umpire's judgment, interferes with the fielder taking the throw at first base, or attempting to field a batted ball; The lines marking the three foot lane are a part of that "lane" but the interpretation to be made is that a runner is required to have both feet within the three foot "lane" or on the lines marking the "lane." Cano did not have both feet inside the lane, and his body position interfered with Erstad's ability to play the ball. That was actually a good call. As far as saying "you shouldn't be in a position where the blown call makes you lose", what the f*** is up with that? If you play good enough to tie, then you should tie, not lose.
  3. I'll hold you to that the next time a call is blown against the Red Sox.
  4. Are you dense? Your response to that post certainly makes it look like you are talking about a one year contract for Soriano. Sorry if I don't speak dumbass.
  5. Can't say I blame them at this point.

I think ND got hosed. The officials were lost on the goaline fumble play. They gave USC a spot about 1 foot from the endzone. To me it looked like the ball went backwards and out of bounds when Leinart got hit, and the spot should have been closer to the 1.5 yard line. Carroll got lucky that as the visiting team he got to opt for no replay. They still could have scored, but it wouldn't have been as easy.
  7. just a one year deal to give some time for our prospects to tweak out what they need to This is what I responed to, dummy.
  8. I think we need to hold on to Zink at least one more year to see what he's got. He learned a new grip for his knuckler at the end of last year, and his stats turned around dramatically. Rob Neyer claims only Phil Neikro, Tim Wakefield, and Charlie Zink had this good a knuckleball by the time they were 24.
  9. If the Stro's can hold on today, and somehow win game 4, I think your bet looks good Crespo. I have a hard time believing the Cards can get 3 straight from Pettitte, Oswalt, and Clemens.
  10. Soriano signing a one year deal? Where do you get your crack? He's going to be looking to ink a long-term, big-money deal.......and he'll get it from someone. I just hope it isn't us (I don't think it will be, the FO seems intent of doing it with guys from our system, which is fine with me).
  11. Lackey hangs curveball #6 in row to Konerko. He should have his head checked. You can't throw a slugger 6 of the same offspeed pitch in row (especially if you are going to hang it).
  12. And you still don't get why people are so confrontational with you.
  13. Yes there is a bias toward the East Coast; that is undeniable. There are definitely numbers (road attendance, t.v. ratings) that show that the Yankees and Red Sox generate a lot of national interest, it's ridiculous if you can't admit it.
  14. We scored the most runs in the league for the 3rd straight year (2005 - 910, 2004 - 949, 2003 - 961). We need pitching. Starting, middle relief, and closing. Papelbon and a healthy Curt should really improve the rotation. The middle relief will be improved with Hansen, MDC, and DiNardo. Timlin is close to signing; he's fine as the 8th inning SU. If Foulke comes back healthy and is able to return to form, then we look good for next year. However, if we lose Manny, the pitching will need to improve that much more.
  15. Read all of my posts, and tell me where I claim this. Part of the problem in this discussion is you having a thought in your head about my opinion that isn't true and has never been stated. You claim that the series is no longer interesting. And you are right; it is no longer interesting to you. But in your posts, you speak as if the whole country is fed up with it. Ok, provide on numerical value to support that claim. You can't. You are entitled to your opinion, but don't claim it's everyone's opinion, and don't tell what mine is.
  16. That makes no sense. That is the equivalent of saying the Marlins would have to give up more than Miguel Cabrera ($350,000) to get Trot Nixon ($7,500,000). Every team in the league would give up their best outfielder and a mid-level pitcher to get their hands on Cabrera. It isn't about equality in salary being traded; it's about equitable value. Tracy, as promising and cheap corner infielder/outfielder, has immense value. Clement is getting overpaid, and Arroyo is one year away from FA. Arroyo's value is good right now, but Clement is an albatross for us right now. The D-Backs would be doing us a favor by taking him. To be honest, if I were the D-Backs, I'd only do that deal if the Sox picked up some of Clement's salary.
  17. Jon Lester. I'd add Anibal Sanchez too, but he could be dealt. It depends on whether or not the FO is concerned about durability. If his arm will hold up, he's got big league stuff.
  18. Here's a thought, why not try reading and comprehending my post you utter and complete dolt. I get that you don't care about the rivalry, but you aren't the rest of the country. Assuming everyone thinks like you is naive and absolutely ridiculous. The generalization "people don't care about the Red Sox and Yankees", should read, "I don't care about the Red Sox and Yankees". The numbers don't lie, people do care about this rivalry. Does that mean that an ALCS without them will suck? No, not at all. But it will generate less interest because, while baseball fans will watch regardless, the casual fan needs something between the boxscores to compell them to watch.
  19. That plays both ways. waaahhhh. nobody is giving the White Sox credit! waaaaaaahhhhhhh.
  20. If you think the Angels were responsible for the Sox having one extra out in that game then you need to wake the f*** up. It isn't an anti-Chicago conspiracy to think the umps dicked the dog there; it is what happened. The only people who are downplaying this are White Sox fans. Fans from all over the country, who root for all different teams, who have no vested interest in this series are decrying the call. You claim everyone needs to stop whining and get over it. I think you need to admit it gave your team an extra shot and accept it.
  21. I never once claimed the Angels were going to win. My point is this: Essentially Eddings didn't make a call at all, which is his f***ing job. If says "out", inning over. If he says "no catch", as is customary, Paul makes the tag. He froze; he did nothing, and everybody assumed from there. Should Paul have tagged AJ "just in case"? Absolutely. Were the White Sox given 4 outs to score a run in the bottom of the ninth? You bet your ass.
  22. I think you need to take the blinders off. The Red Sox and Yankees are #1 and #2 in road attendance respectively (and Boston #3, NY #1 in %capacity on the road), meaning this series means something across the nation, not just in Boston and New York. Yes, the media hype surrounding it borders on the obscene. That said, I'm sure FOX is s***ing britches right now. None of the four teams left cracked the top 10 in road attendance in total attendance or %capacity). This years ALCS will suffer in the ratings. Personally, I am a baseball fan, so the season doesn't end until the champion is crowned (and once that happens, then the football season starts IMO). I think it's an interesting matchup, and I do think it is good for the overall exposure of the game. But it won't get the ratings, period. That is all.
  23. Exactly. The ump didn't say "out" nor did he say "no catch". The motherf***er had no clue what happened and he froze. Now he's backpeddaling by saying, "I wasn't sure, so I figured I'd make my mind up based on the players reactions". Isn't that how all close calls should be made? Borderline strike? Well the hitter sure didn't like it, I better give him first base. Close play at the plate? Well the catcher really seems to think he made the tag in time, better give it to him. What a crock. Do your job, make a call, any call, and stick to it. The postgame ass-covering session is just as deplorable as what happened on the field.
  24. Horrible call; the ball was caught. Even if it wasn't, the ump signalled out immediately after he signalled for the swing and miss. The HP ump totally s*** the bed on this one. What other bad calls? Replays showed that Rowand and Crede were both out. Momentum? LAA gets split in your house against your two best pitchers with Byrd and Washburn on the mound. I think they have the 'mo going home where the Sox will have to face Lackey and Santana (especially now that they have something to be really pissed about). I was thinking it would be good to see the White Sox break their drought the year after we did, but that has changed now. LAA all the way!
  25. I would expect one of Arroyo or Clement to not be wearing red stockings next year; that is where Papelbon's rotation spot comes from. Both are about league average pitchers, nothing more, and neither has anywhere near the potential Papelbon does. It would be a mistake to slow his growth so that we can continue to get league average pitching. Arroyo will fetch more in the trade market because he is relatively cheap for his production and Clement has the "bust" albatross around his neck right now.
