  1. Both are useless. You brought up how many wins he had, and you said specifically... Well, they were. If you wish to restate your position, please do so, but I'm only showing the fault of your reasoning.
  2. They went 16-17 in games he pitched. Not what I expected.
  3. Is this serious?
  4. There's some pretty suspect officiating going on in the MSU/UCLA game. UCLA seems to get to the stripe on anyting contested by MSU on their end, and is being allowed to make some contact on their challenges on the other end. The FTA disparity is 23/16, so it bears watching.
  5. Why does he recruit so well, that's what I wonder? He's had a long career of landing very good ball players, at some pretty smallish schools (UMass, Memphis....not prime time basketball programs), all the while coaching them to accomplishments probably below their talents. Yet he still continues to get good players. Nobody is that charismatic, IMO.
  6. That's a lot more likely to happen with a Calipari team. Great recruiter (probably because of boosters), pretty unremarkable coach.
  7. He's had a lot of success with a lot less talent than many of his peers at big programs. They are getting worked a little right now, though.
  8. I like watching Izzo's teams play, too. He's a great coach, and his team always plays fundamentally sound basketball.
  9. He pumps in 32 points on 10-24 shooting. That's NBA quality play. He's ready. WTF happened to this sport? Are shooting fundamentals taught anymore?
  10. First time watching Fredette play. Does he always force it this badly? Lots of shots with a poor foundation (footwork), and thus a lot of misses.
  11. Looks like Wofford has a license to commit assault in this game. Fredette's been absolutely mugged a couple of times with no call.
  12. When is it a personal insult to make some insight into motive? I didn't call you any names. You are reaching.
  13. Top 5, looking forward to the next 5 years (isn't this what really matters), starting this year: Lincecum, Hernandez, Lester, Hanson, Price That's who I would bet on, but I can see several others making the list.
  14. That's statistical analysis. It's hard to pretty up a s*** stat line. What we are talking about is projection, which where essence of Jacko really shines. Good find on the scout quote, Dipre. Backpedaling in 3, 2, ...
  15. Aaaaaand, he gets personal. It's fun being right.
  16. Jacko, let's face the facts, man. You're a weatherman who calls for rain every day. Because your forecast never changes, it means you aren't prescient when it rains. Start giving us some mixed reviews, ie tone down the hyperbole with these kids, and you'll be a little more credible. Short of that, you'll get labelled, correctly I might add, as a pom-pom waving homer.
  17. I'm at work and can't watch, so I'm limited to the box score, but encouraging stuff from Matsuzaka thus far. Ellsbury is making a good case for the layoff spot this spring. Hope both trends continue.
  18. You are missing the point because of some perceived slight against Hughes, one that doesn't exist. I agree, he could be very good. That doesn't change my point. Even if he ends up very good....he'd still be a let down from the expectations one would naturally assume based on Jacko's effusive praise of him as a prospect. The same goes with any other prospect. I don't pretend to know which these guys talents will ultimately succeed at the highest level. Any of them could be good, but regardless of that fact, anyone who takes Jacko's unmitigated glee for these guys at face value, will ultimately end up disappointed more than most. When you are among your own, fine...have at it. When you are coming to the house of the enemy for the sole purpose of metaphorically rubbing our noses in the awesomeness of the Yankee player development machine...well, it gets a little tiresome. This is what kreinbihl was stating. RSFFL jumped in and defended Jacko, but he hasn't been around long enough to know the history. I enlightened him.
  19. Hughes has over three years of service time. His performance to date is a massive disappointment relative to any expectations that would have been established by Jacko's commentary. And that is the point I'm making, that his commentary consistently and repeatedly overstated any and all positives for the players in question, and it appears to be based solely by what uniform they wear.
  20. Re: Hughes, he's good, but that's not a sure fire ace. Look, you are new here. Stick around awhile and experience the hyperbole for as long as many of us have. You'll see.
  21. If it wasn't a "fear us" thread, you wouldn't care if more people (ie Sox fans) got informed about your signees. The truth always comes out.
