  1. Aloha.
  2. More spin. How can you defend the idea that it is the same to have 5 days off in April and 2 off in September compared to 3 off in April and 4 off in September? Yeah, it's easy to give players a breather in Sept when the rosters expand, but if you are in a pennant race, the more days off you have, the more you can rest the regulars without sacraficing performance. Like I said, it's not a huge advantage, but it is an advantage nonetheless.
  3. And I like the fact that the Sox are getting more days off later in the season. It's not very significant, but it is a scheduling advantage in their favor.
  4. I think we need some dead Byrd mojo. http://benz.do.sapo.pt/dead%20bird%20b.jpg
  5. Sorry it's been a bit since my last update, I have a lot going on at home with a new baby. Andrew hit his first A+ dinger last night in a 7-4 loss. Season: .190/.294/.276, 2 2B, 1 HR, 13/7 K/BB
  6. And Lugo. I won't look forward to the Sox playing them when they are healthy. Crawford - LF Lugo - SS Cantu - 2B Gomes - DH Huff - RF Baldelli - CF Lee - 1B Wigginton - 3B Hall - C That lineup can score some runs.
  7. No, I've seen one with Randy and Yertle the Turtle, it is a much better likeness.
  8. Lots here too.... http://www.allsolutionsconsulting.com/images/arthur_card.gif http://www.piscesposters.com/russ/baseball/bernie.JPG
  9. That's ghea. Party on Wayne.
  10. He's battling. Find a way Mikey!
  11. Nevermind, he didn't get anything to hit.
  12. Just don't DP here Papi. Manny is locked in and going yard here.
  13. WMP seems to run pretty well, so I don't think range will be a huge problem for him. Boneheaded mistakes on the other hand....
  14. I read something recently that suggested Wily Mo actually plays CF better than the corners because the closer the ball is to the line, the more spin it has on it and that affects his read. I'm not convinced, but it does make sense. I've never seen him in center, but what he brings to the plate will be significantly better than what he gives up in the field compared to Harris.
  15. Fair enough.
  16. All well and good, but why do I have to accept that it isn't possible without a report saying so?
  17. I find it hard to believe that said research has been done, has failed, and then subsequently been buried. HGH received lots of publicity well before it's part in MLB's Steroid Era as an anti-aging miracle where many beneficial claims were made about it's use, and usually such claims are a met with the level of skepticism that you are showing now. That skepticism typically results in research to prove/disprove the claim, and that report is made public and picked up by the media. Look, I don't wholeheartedly believe that it can/will improve eyesight. That said, lacking a definitive report, I'll take it from the horse's mouth (Bonds') that it helped him see the ball better.
  18. I don't believe everything I read on the 'net, and I too believe several sources are better than one. In an effort to save time and typing, I only linked one doctor, but a google search will yield literally thousands of reports by doctors on the subject. When several of them reference the same research (the finding that HGH will act as a nerve growth factors), then I'm inclined to believe the study exists, and to be honest, I wouldn't know where to back check about the research if I were inclined to.
  19. Yeah, I was referring to the fact that underperformers in these markets are rarely given another chance. That makes it hard to distinguish from an off year and cracking under pressure.
  20. I'm not spreading any crap, just what I've read. Eyesight The eyesight improvement is supported by the testimonials of people who's eyesight improved, including Bonds himself as was reported in the book Game of Shadows. This is from the SI article about the book. Brain Function Source: Elmer Cranton, M.D. Yeah, the guy's specialty is holistic medicine, but he's a MD that graduated from Harvard Medical School. And, that doesn't even address the fallacy of your logic. You claim there is no scientific data that supports these claims, and you use that as the basis for an argument that they must be untrue. Well, that coin has two sides. I have seen no scientific data that says neither of these things are true. In order to declare something absolute, there must be data to either prove or disprove. Neither of us can point to a scientific study that supports either claim. I, however, at least have have anecdotal support for what I have asserted.
  21. Neither of Weaver and Suppan were top-flight pitchers, nor were either of them given a second chance after they sucked in NY and Boston. You don't know if it was the big market that got to them or if it was just adjusting to playing in the best offensive division in baseball. Yes, I will admit that there are some players who wilt under the pressure, but that is commonly overstated IMO.
  22. Damon said, "I can't see myself playing for the Yankees....sometimes it isn't all about the money." Foulke said, "I will play for who offers the most." Both followed the money. Only one seems genuine to me, and that is where the difference lies.
  23. Name one recent example that fits the following criteria: 1) Injury had nothing to do with their performance in the "high-pressure" market, 2) The player was given a chance to rebound in the "high-pressure" market, because without a chance to rebound in-market, you don't know if it was the pressure, or just an off year.
  24. Like hand-eye coordination? If steroids could improve that, then there is a real advantage, but steroids haven't been known to do that. But, what if there were a drug that got you to see better and improved how your brain processes information, wouldn't improving those two things likely improve hand-eye coordination? I think it would, and two of the benefits of HGH are improved eye-sight and brain function, as well as improved visuospatial performance (likely due to the improvements of the other two). HGH is the real unfair advantage IMO, and the current policy does nothing to stop the use of it.
  25. Just so you know, you don't need to crank out that data. Go to espn.com, move the pointer over the drop-down MLB icon on the top bar, click on teams, find the Sox, click on stats, click on pitching, find the Splits drop-down menu at the top right of the stats page, click on As a reliever. It gives you each individual's performance as a reliever, and at the bottom of the page is the team cummulative performance.
