  1. Is Bubba the youngest looking 29 y/o, or what? He looks like he should be wearing a Boy-Scout uniform more than a baseball uniform.
  2. Wake seems to have found a groove.
  3. More luck from Chacon. Smoke and mirrors I tell ya, smoke and mirrors.
  4. That looked like it was over the bag.
  5. Ok Kreskin. Got the lottery numbers for this week? The hot bat comes up with some runners on. Let's go Mark!
  6. Wow, should have tagged on Bernie.
  7. Aww cute, you two should get room.......................................
  8. Not to be Peter Pessimist, but it's possible that it's both of those things. That was a nasty impact.
  9. Youk with a little more leather. Aren't the Cubs reportedly interested in Snow? If so, they ought to ship him off for something useful because I don't think Youk needs a late inning replacement.
  10. Tomato, tomahto. If he keeps allowing base runners like he currently does, it will come back to bite him in the ass.
  11. Big let down not scoring runs there. Chacon has to be the most Smoke and Mirrors pitcher I've ever seen. Stuff is unremarkable, command is spotty, but his luck seems endless.
  12. Just a touch early on the hanger. Chacon dodged 3 runs right there.
  13. More Bad News Bears, and Hideki-san is hurt.
  14. I'm pretty sure the 10+ and HOF criteria are for retiring a number, not the Sox HOF.
  15. Let this rule the day.... http://users.sdccu.net/hoggy/images/kb.jpg
  16. BDD isn't the masses. That site just stirs the s*** to get more hits (responses). Sounds familiar (thread title).....
  17. No sweat. It was awful nice of Moose to let his soft-toss junk get Papi in a groove. He's every bit as dangerous as Slappy, with the only difference being he's deadly late in the game and he kills the Yankees.
  18. After Harris' performance last night, I don't think WMP sits two days in a row. Besides, the pitch that notoriously gets Pena out is the down and away slider from a RHP. Chacon's curve is more 12-6, and he'll have to throw it for strikes if his spotty command of his FB continues. If he leaves one higher than the bottom of the zone, WMP will probably put it in Monument Park.
  19. The If it ain't broke, don't fix it metality does have some merit, but it falls short of the true objective of management, maximizing value. Papelbon has been very good in the closers role, but he's performed well in his limited starting opportunities as well. I tend to think that a good SP is more valuable than a very good RP. You will get more innings from a SP, and the best way to maximize a good pitcher's value is to have him pitch as many innings as possible.
  20. Don't sell nurses short. They are on the job and observe what's going on. Just because they didn't go to Med-School doesn't mean they can't be aware of the things you are talking about. My wife doesn't like the show because of exactly the things you say are wrong with it. And, she doesn't like most doctors because they take the same attitude you do.
  21. Like him or not, Riv does have some intelligence. That said, he demonstrates some ignorance too. I think it is mainly due to his age. He makes absolute statements on limited amounts of data, which is part of the impetus of youth. And, he allows his bias to enter his analysis, but that is something that just about every fan is guilty of. Here's my advice. Allow him to spout off with something that will eventually result in a foot in mouth situation, and then call him on it. It won't take long, just have a little patience.
  22. My wife is a nurse and she thinks it's a joke. I'm actually surprised you like it. Hollywood always takes a shitload of liberty with how things go in real life, and it usually makes an informed viewer disinterested. For example, I was in the Marines, and I find most military movies to be very poorly done. Of course, there are a few shining examples of it being done right. A Few Good Men, Full Metal Jacket, and Jarhead do a good job of catching some of the Marine experience, but that is only 3 of hundreds of movies with Marines in them.
  23. Sterling is a caricature of a radio announcer with his calls, and now you are a caricature of a caricature. Hang your head in shame.
  24. Good stuff is nice, but you have to locate it. Look at Beckett in Cleveland, Verlander a couple of weeks ago, and Felix Hernandez pretty much every start other than his last one. If he's really been missing spots all year and still getting very good hitters out, then he's been pretty lucky. Skill/talent holds up, luck usually doesn't.
  25. Never controlled it this well before. But, hey, small samples are A-OK as long as we are talking about the Yanks, right? EDIT: Manny chased, as he does from time to time in big spots. Everyone misses at a pitch 8 inches outside.
