  1. Sydney Ponson is in the middle of vetoing the trade. in his contract there is a clause of 10 teams listed that he can veto a trade to, Tampa Bay being one of them.
  2. Pitches-strikes - T Wakefield 98-64; M Myers 13-9; J Gonzalez 30-21; J Garland 117-82; D Marte 18-9; B Jenks 9-7; D Hermanson 20-12. i do agree though that once first homerun was given up the 4-1 lead then 2 men got on base again, terry shouldve pulled the plug. The few silver lininings was Jeremi Gonzalez having pitched 2 scoreless innings last night is proving to be a reliable bullpen man in July pitching 8 innings, 4 hits and only 1 run
  3. dude im just trying to make the point he has been getting on base, 6 times now in his first 3 games with 4 hits, RBI, a Run scored, and getting on base by being hit by pitcher and fielder's choice--just 1 strikeout in his first 11 at bats
  4. but on nesn pre-game report they mentioned that ponson has a clause in his contract with tampa bay being one of the teams he would veto being traded to. Chris Snow had stated Ponosn is in the middle of vetoing his trade to the D-rays right now.
  5. 6. nah cmon guys best stuff in the NL is without a doubt, Roger Clemens with that miniscule 1.47 ERA
  7. as a shirt I have says, "Im a fan of the Red Sox, and any team that beats the Yankess"
  8. plus would help if you throw out david wells' start against the blue jays when he gave of back-2-back-2-back homeruns
  9. So far it is working in Francona, Theo, and Curt's decision for him to better start off as a closer and work his way through, this hasnt been a disaster like many posters on this forum have suggested. In 5 appearances has gotten a save, yes has blown a lead but as everybody knows fate went into Sox's hands as Manny hit a solo shot, and curt got the win with a pop-up and last 2 batters swingin for the fences 5 games (6.0 innings pitched) 3 hits, 3 Earned Runs, 7 strikeouts, no walks
  10. now theres talk that roman phifer could be resigned, signs point to calls belichick has had with him and also he still has his name on a locker in the patroit's locker room. also with less teams biting to get at Ty Law, he could also be having negotiations with new england on a price to come back. with bruschi gone, for right reason of course, id welcome roman and law back.
  11. i had went on ebay several times, and you do get lucky from people who arent that greedy with setting the max so high, like for a sox/orioles game i had grandstand seats behind home plate on the 7th row and the two seats were together. I wound up being the top bidder at just $67.
  12. i love how they just own the colts haha, i think including playoffs, its now 8 straight games the Pats have beat them
  13. sorry if im sticking by the veteran player of the team, isnt this supposed to be thread of "who do you think is best starter?" not, "you cant have your opinion, because we say its david wells"
  14. I go with Tim Wakefield, the veteran starter and player of the team, been here since '95, is showing no tear only when he had went straight 5 games losing when Mirabelli was on the DL. I mean who started their hot sreak in June after a bad start, it was our boy Wake, game against Chicago where he had 2 hits and even scored a run from 1st base. Tough guy as there is any with last game against NY going all the way for a complete game giving his offsense a chance to come from behind. For seven straight games, he has now gone seven full innings or more. Plus with Matt Clement starting to falter, he now leads in ERA 4.12, and with 126 2/3 innings pitched. I was so glad to hear they signed him for a contract extension on April 19, same day as my bday haha
  15. i do like this from the fort lauderdale sun sentinel newspaper website: Meanwhile, a proposed three-way trade with the Red Sox and Twins was in trouble due to a disagreement between the American League teams. The Twins were said to be surprised when they learned the Red Sox would send pitcher Joe Mays along to the Marlins in a package for Burnett and Lowell. That left the Red Sox exploring other ways to deal directly with the Marlins. They were said to prefer moving right-hander Wade Miller and prospects instead of fellow starter Bronson Arroyo, but the Marlins much prefer Arroyo, who is making $1.85 million this year. Arroyo's career record is 27-28, compared with 43-44 for Burnett. But Arroyo has pitched well against the Yankees, and that has the Red Sox reconsidering a trade. If they get Burnett, the Red Sox might flip him to the Phillies for veteran closer Billy Wagner. Not only would that put Burnett on a National League East rival, something the Marlins want to avoid, but it also had them considering the merits of offering him directly for Wagner. Wagner, who turns 34 on Monday, has 266 career saves and is headed for free agency. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- if such a thing happens, we'd be all set with a star closer with Billy Wagner up on the mound. But that deal would give us one less pitcher since Sox are trying to ease Schilling into a 1st to 7th/8th inning pitcher that he dominates at. which could see jon lester being called up as well as paplebon
  16. Im a big fan of the Pats, but still after proving to people they are a dynasty of 3 superbowls in 4 years. How come they are still the most underrated team? maybe cuz unlike other teams they showcase their talent as a "whole team" rather than a superstar getting all the catches, aka Terrell Ownes you greedy bastard you. Really with Belichick still behind the wheel, they are a force as any to deal with for the 2005 season.
  17. so far the biggest prospcet i actually see Sox dealing would have to be Abe Alvarez, which woudlnt hurt the Sox that much
  18. well remember he get beamed in the head in the recent past that got him to sit out some games? last week he got hit again but on the wrist now, so theo is having him take a week off or so. i feel bad, its not starting all that well so far for pedroia.
  19. thats true but not tornoto since they are already in same divsion as us as it is, but yea marlins would be better bet than rockies for team can actually win, haha.
  20. only team of the NL I know is closest to finding a new home is the lowly Colorado Rockies. but its all assumptions right now, would be exciting to have two teams in Boston
  21. haha i can picture it now if the Sox and new team boston both lead in their leagues and end up in world series against each other. yankees and mets had the subway series. We'd have the Battle in Beantown
  22. now that idea of a national league team back in boston does pique my interest, the last being the Braves before they started to move around. only questions being where to put another ballpark in boston, and what national league team to relocate.
  23. welcome Aly, im a big fan of the red Sox since I was bron. Both my grandfathers being around 10 when the red sox won the last World Series, so its in my blood for this. Even when I was 3, I had gone to the 86 red sox world series, game 1 or game 2. not the game that had the famous buckner incident, haha. Im trying to talk to my Dad for him to find the pictures because, scouts honor, my next door neighbor for 5 years while we lived in Hamilton Mass, was the great "Rocket" Roger Clemens. And my dad has the only pitcure I know of with me on Roger's shoulders. I will be sure to post that as soon as my ******* dad can send it up to me from him in Texas about the trades, either prospect for current Sox players will be gone by end of July, its the life of baseball really, sad I know.
  24. A Massachusetts native, it seems obvious New York Mets' pitcher Tom Glavine would accept a deal to Boston. He mentioned he enjoyed pitching in St. Louis and in Wrigley Field, but said although he liked the West Coast, it's unlikely he'd go there. He called Baltimore's Camden Yards a typical AL bandbox but does think he could pitch in the AL. --New York Post
  25. thats one team I dont mind at all him going to, second favorite baseball team, plus he would be teammates again with Nomr as well as less chance of having to see him face off the Sox. Ill still hold out hopes for now he does resign with us though.
