  1. funny to see on ESPN, the Twins have released Bret Boone as he had only been hitting .167 and 3 RBIs during his tenure with them
  2. ohh damn, and thats againt Triple A pitchers too, maybe they should start him off in Single A
  3. no I do remember now, but cmon dude thats the past now
  4. I still stand by that A's have a shot at taking the AL West title as they are now just one game behind the Angels
  5. It will still be a tough series. Gotta remember they arent the same team anymore of years' past. Starting to be a very competitive team, just look at the last series Boston had played Tampa
  6. I feel bad for him, an all around good guy and a hell of a player Hunter has broken ankle, out until at least September August 1, 2005 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Gold Glove center fielder Torii Hunter has a broken left ankle that will keep him out at least a month and possibly the rest of the season, a major blow to Minnesota's playoff hopes. Hunter had an MRI and CT scan Monday, which revealed a small fracture in his ankle. He was injured in Boston on Friday night, when the four-time Gold Glove winner tried to make an acrobatic catch by scaling the right-center fence at Fenway Park. The Twins initially feared Hunter had torn a tendon in the ankle, which probably would have required surgery and forced him out for the rest of the season. There is no tear, team spokesman Mike Herman said, but Hunter will be on crutches for three to four weeks. It's discouraging news for Minnesota, which loses its best defensive player and a leader in the clubhouse. Plus, Hunter's 63 runs, 24 doubles, 56 RBIs and 23 steals are tops on the team. He's batting .269 with 14 homers. The Twins, who had lost eight of 10, began the day four games behind Oakland in the AL wild-card race.
  7. i think if anybody they will look within to strengthen their bullpen, I see Delcarmen sticking around, as well as Papelbon coming back in September to be a long reliever type. Dinardo should be called back, just so Myers wont be the only lefty in the bullpen anymore, which would add depth
  8. oh you did not just go there!!? Sox signed him for a reason, this kid has dominating stuff to be a closer, Scouts said he has the makings to be the Keith Foulke of 2004
  9. Im sorry but where the hell is your logic in this? did he hit all 14 HRs in July in Yankee Stadium, no I think not
  10. wow you really dont know anything, huh, youkilis is going to become the starting 3rd baseman next spring, yes it has been confirmed as well as Mueller will be a free agent at end of season.
  11. dude please this is the current staff's ERA plain and simple, not f***ing trying to sway towards Red Sox being better
  12. the bullpen has been doing really good for past several weeks, it has upgraded from the beginning of the season. now dude the current relievers for the Sox are Delcarmen (0.00), Timlin (1.38), Myers (3.04), Bradford (3.60), Gonzalez (5.34) and Schilling (6.23)---which makes the bullpen's ERA average at 3.27 yanks current bullpen roster's average ERA is at 7.83
  13. ??? yeaa about that, (1) was in the Yankee media guide and (2) everyone on ESPN and every other sports outlet there is; have been touting that Yankees had nothing to offer for big trades because of their depleted farm system
  14. before heating it up, was just 3 hits in 35 at bats--as NESN would also say, that was a slump
  15. yeah exactly I had posted that when he was in his slump--besides we will see what happens considering Olerud was taken out of the game last night because he had tweaked his hamstrings while running the bases
  16. True, I'd like to see for Tuesday: Jose Cruz joins team with Lenny Dinardo being called back up to Sox, while Papelbon and Gonzalez sent back down to Triple A
  17. Lenny Dinardo, a lefty, should come back to Red Sox in place of Papelbon when he is sent back to Pawtucket
  18. Want to talk about stats, huh? ok Haha thats very funning considering those stats are taking all pitchers who appeared this season. In all actuality the current 12 man pitching staff of Matt Clement (4.43), David Wells (4.45), Bronson Arroyo (4.22), Tim Wakefield (4.19), Wade Miller (4.57), Jeremi Gonzalez (5.34), Mike Timlin (1.38), Mike Myers (3.04), Chad Bradford (3.60), Manny Delcarmen (0.00), Jon Paplebon (3.38), and Curt Schilling (6.23) makes their staff having an avg ERA of 3.74 Meanwhile, the 12 man pitching staff of the Yankees pale big in comparison with Shawn Chacon (0.00), Alan Embree (27.00), Wayne Franklin (9.64), Tom Gordon (3.08), Randy Johnson (4.11), Al Leiter (4.15), Mike Mussina (3.80), Scott Proctor (5.63), Mariano Rivera (0.97), Felix Rodriguez (4.41), Aaron Small (4.05), and Tanyon Sturtze (4.13) And that pitching staff's ERA would be, drum roll please........ 5.91
  19. ooh god i hope the game he comes back to camden yards that it will be on national tv, want to see the fans' reactions when he comes up to plate
  20. 14-13 for July, hey at least they played one game over .500 for last month and still held onto the lead despite bad goings in the middle of the month
  21. wait just 10 games? i thought that the new rule was first time catching players take steroids, it was like 60 day suspension which would be rest of season
  22. yeah next 36 out of 61 games will be played at Fenway they had said
  23. Note when Schilling came back in July his ERA from 3 games in April was at 8.44, but has since dropped it down to 6.23 and has recorded 5 saves in 6 opportunities. And ahem his ERA for July has been now at 1.65
  24. haha sorry laughing my ass of at a yankee fan saying that considering D-Rays have a certificate of ownership of the Yankees this season with their 7-3 record against the yanks which includes 3 out of 4 in Tampa, and then 3 out of 4 in Yankee Stadium
  25. yeah Edgar is turning himself around and has since beginning of July heightened the defense plasy compared to when he first started. He is the best option for the Sox if they want to bunt, his speed evn helped him at times to beat the throw, but still 100% of time he gets the runners to advance. like take what he did in the 8th inning when Kapler and Damon were done away with so quickly, Edgar is simply "clutch" driving a high double off of the green monster, then able to score on Manny's dramatic single that went past the pitcher and 2nd baseman--not to mention him dropping a bunt to get on base for Ortiz's 9th inning walk off homerun against the Orioles in early June
