  1. all 4 at bats he did make contact, to the seattle infielders that is
  2. so its ok if you rag on us about schilling and foulke getting hurt this year? i have even seen you said i hope they suck for the rest of the season. so your immature comment "you are a dick" is laughable
  3. on WEEI, here are the confirmed scheduled starts for the upcoming games August 31 vs Tampa Bay- Tim Wakefield September 1 vs Tampa Bay- Bronson Arroyo September 2 vs Baltimore- undecided (most likely could be Lenny Dinardo's 1st major league start) September 3 vs Baltimore- Matt Clement September 4 vs Baltimore- David Wells (if todays meeting with the MLB front office goes in his favor) September 5 vs Chicago- Curt Schilling September 6 vs Los Angeles- Tim Wakefield September 7 vs Los Angeles- Bronson Arroyo
  4. I really do hope it takes place, as Lenny Dinardo or some other minor leaguer would get the start tomorrow against the Orioles. and ugh hearing that Wells has been sent to the commisioner's office doesnt sound very good at all
  5. as long as he stops trusting his splitter, he will be ok--face it curt the splitter isnt your out pitch anymore
  6. ESPN reported that Sox front office will be trying to hash out a deal to bring Steve Traschel to Boston today. No other details were given. Blue Jays are also trying acquire him
  7. sorrrry i got names mixed up
  8. Chad Hutchinson of the Bears has been released on "cutdown" day, guess he's not so versatile--In other more surprising news, Peerless Price was cut by the Falcons and Peter Warrick has been cut by the Bengals
  9. Help on the Way? J.P. Ricciardi isn't tipping his hand one way or the other, but here are a few future free agents that might interest the Blue Jays GM next season: - RHP A.J. Burnett: Has made it very clear he would like to be reunited with Jays pitching coach Brad Arnsberg. - LHP Jarrod Washburn: According to reports, already is being lured by Jays reliever Scott Schoeneweis. - 1B/DH Erubiel Durazo: Underwent Tommy John surgery in July but is expected back for beginning of next season. Should come relatively cheap and always has interested Ricciardi. - 1B/DH Kevin Millar: Solid clubhouse leader in Boston has seen his power dry up this year. Is he worth taking a chance on? - 1B Carlos Pena: At $2.5 million US this year and arbitration eligible, the Tigers are going to have to make a decision on him. Late surge might keep him in Motown. If he's available he'd be a great fit in Toronto. Here's our best guess as to whom the Jays will be bringing up in September when the rosters expand: - OF Gabe Gross - IF Desi Relaford - C Ken Huckaby - RHP Chad Gaudin - OF John-Ford Griffin
  10. Mussina joins Yankees' injured list By JIM COUR, AP Sports Writer August 30, 2005 SEATTLE (AP) -- Mike Mussina will miss at least one start because of slight inflammation on the inside of his pitching elbow, becoming the fifth and final member of the New York Yankees' original starting rotation to get hurt this year. Mussina allowed four runs and six hits in three-plus innings against Seattle on Monday night, failing to complete the fifth inning in consecutive starts for the first time since Sept. 12 and 19, 1996, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The 36-year-old right-hander, 12-8 with a 4.34 ERA, had been bothered by the inflammation previously this season, Yankees manager Joe Torre said before Tuesday night's game against the Mariners. "It's not something that just cropped up this morning,'' Torre said. Torre said the Yankees planned to "shut down'' Mussina for three or four days to see if his elbow gets better. Mussina gave up eight runs in an inning against Toronto last week and was 1-2 with an 8.17 ERA in five August starts. Mussina confirmed that the elbow has bothered him this season. "It has been messing with me on and off, but it hasn't bothered me to where I couldn't pitch,'' he said before Tuesday's game. Mussina said Torre and pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre thought "the last couple of games it has bothered me more than I was letting on.'' Obviously, I'd rather be pitching,'' he said. "I know I want to be out there. This is an important time of the season. But, I want it to go away and not be an issue, so maybe this is the best idea.'' Asked whether Mussina would miss only one start, Torre said, "We hope that's all he will.'' Aaron Small (5-0) might take Mussina's slot for Sunday's game at Oakland. Small allowed one hit in four scoreless innings as the Yankees rallied for a 7-4 win Monday. "That makes sense,'' Torre said. "But we'll see if there are other options.'' Mussina expects to miss only one game. "One game should be enough,'' he said. "At 36, and pitching as long as I have, you're not always going to be 100 percent.'' Randy Johnson has missed two starts this year because of a bad back, and Jaret Wright was sidelined from April 24 through Aug. 14 with an injured right shoulder. Kevin Brown was on the disabled list from April 3-17 and June 18-July 18 with an injured back, then went back on the DL on July 28. Carl Pavano hasn't pitched since June 27 because of a sore right shoulder. Chien-Ming Wang, who joined the rotation early in the season because of the injuries, hasn't pitched since July 8 because of shoulder inflammation but is on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Columbus and could return in September. With Mussina out, the Yankees' rotation would include Johnson, Wright, Shawn Chacon, Al Leiter and Small.
  11. not now anyway, Mussina was just rocked hard in his second straight start. It has now been confirmed he will miss at least one start from inflammation in his pitching elbow. Chacon was just hit hard by the Mariners as the Yanks lost 8-3, and pushed the Sox ahead 2 1/2 games. You better be praying your offense can figure out the rookie sensation Felix Rodriguez tonight as well as Randy Johnson to not throw juiced pitches.
  12. didnt millar help in the rally that got Sox closer in a 2-run inning?
  13. plain and simple... "Its not how its started, its how its finished"
  14. Note: This is not a first time a player has done such a thing, and as I recall Sheffield this season had tried to get into an ump's face after he was called out at 1st base
  15. Bell is now 0 for 3 in his Yankee debut, he grounded out to second base just now
  16. Heh, Sox won their second game against the Angels while visiting the west side
  17. Bell is batting 8th, he grounded out in the last out of the 3rd inning--he'll probably be in the 5th--haha it is weird to see him wear the evil empire's uniform, now dons the #26
  18. 8-2, Betancourt hit a groundrule double--and now Chacon walks Ichiro, his 3rd walk in under 3 innings (5th free base including Mores getting beaned 2 times)
  19. chacon also hits his 2nd batter (morse for 2nd time in 2 innings)
  20. Bellhorn is now 0 for 2, he grounded out to the pitcher to end the inning
  21. Lawton grounds out to second, its now 5-2--with bell up at bat
  22. it was only a matter of time he wouldve had this type of outing.
  23. and there is him getting rocked for 5 runs in the 2nd. go Ichiro with your 3 run shot!!!!!!!!!!
  24. chacon lately has been walking and hitting batters left and right. got some control issues
