  1. def agree, as i have been trying to defend curt also in my posts. this is the guy who gave red sox nation a world series win, first one in 86 years. last time he threw 75 pitches or more was back in april. only his first start back, so far his next scheduled game is game 2 or 3 against the d-rays at Fenway Park
  2. yes just did, sounds good to me
  3. oh i know that just was stating who had the upper hand in 2005. Doug has been pretty much anemic this 2nd half
  4. i just go by what has been done this year. Doug with runners in scoring position has been batting just 200. Tony G on the other hand in that situation, a .351 avg--that speaks volume
  5. i know sox are giving remlinger as much chances as they can, but still his time with the Red Sox has an ERA of like 16.53. And what are they going to do with Roberto Petagine, its been awhile since he last played for the Sox.
  6. yes what i had meant, i got the todd's mixed up
  7. I was just wondering with now how Curt is pitching as the starter, and has still another season left on his contract. Wells has been signed for 2 seasons, but has indicated there is a small chance he could retire end of 2005. Wakefield's contract has been extended for 3 more seasons, while Clement signed a deal that would keep him in Boston for 3 seasons with a club deal for 2008. any thoughts on what 2006 starting pitching will be like? :dunno:
  8. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- let alone his "amusing name" he came up with, is something a little kid would come up with. lets see what his posts are when papelbon makes his debut against the yanks, and has the same effects on Vlad and the Angels
  9. they might as well do whatever they can. A source from the Cubs have said that Nomar's contract won't be renewed for next season as well as fellow ex-Sox Todd Hollandsworth. The Cubs are interested in the Atlanta Braves' shortstop Rafael Furcal, who would supply them with offense and some solid D
  10. Who's side are you on? Bradley accuses Kent of racism, lack of leadership August 24, 2005 LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Milton Bradley and Jeff Kent are still at odds. Los Angeles Dodgers manager Jim Tracy and general manager Paul DePodesta wish they weren't -- especially now that Bradley has injected race into the equation. Bradley accused Kent of a lack of leadership and an inability to deal with black players in a 15-minute session with reporters at his locker before Tuesday night's 8-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The remarks came only a couple of minutes after he said that the feud between the two that became public last weekend in Florida was a "dead issue.'' "The problem is, he doesn't know how to deal with African-American people,'' Bradley said. "I think that's what's causing everything. It's a pattern of things that have been said -- things said off the cuff that I don't interpret as funny. It may be funny to him, but it's not funny to Milton Bradley. But I don't take offense to that because we all joke about race in here. Race is an issue with everything we do in here. "Me being an African-American is the most important thing to me -- more important than baseball,'' said the 27-year-old center fielder, whose voice never went beyond his normal speaking level. "White people never want to see race -- with anything. But there's race involved in baseball. That's why there's less than 9 percent African-American representation in the game. I'm one of the few African-Americans that starts here.'' Bradley did not like what Kent said to him after he failed to score from first base on a double in Saturday's victory over the Florida Marlins. Bradley initiated a 25-minute closed-door meeting with Tracy after that game. "I was told in spring training I was the team leader -- by Paul DePodesta. By Jim Tracy. By (team owner) Frank McCourt,'' Bradley said. "Growing up in L.A., I know how to deal with all types of people, and I do it on an everyday basis. But some people don't deal with all different types of people every day, and therefore don't know how to handle situations when they arise.'' DePodesta issued a statement after Tuesday's game, saying: "Everyone at the Los Angeles Dodgers is committed to winning. It has been a frustrating season for all of us and our fans, as we have dealt with plenty of adversity. "We have a talented team of passionate players who take their performance -- as well as the team's performance -- personally. Under the circumstances, it is not unusual for players' emotions to run high. However, if and when any issue arises that runs contrary to the goals and values of the organization, there should be no question that we address it.'' Kent hadn't yet arrived at his locker when Bradley began his criticism of him, but Bradley accused the media of coming to his locker first Tuesday because of who he is, and the baggage that follows him around -- including the anger management classes the Dodgers required Bradley to take after several outbursts last season. "At no time am I going to let somebody question my hustle, my injury or question my motivation for playing,'' Bradley said. "I watch him on the field, and I follow in his footsteps and the things he does on the field. As far as off the field, he has no clue about leadership. "If you're going to be the leader of the team, then you need to mingle with the team and associate with the team. I mean, you can't have your locker in the corner, put your headphones on and sit in the corner reading a motocross magazine. He's in his own world. Everybody else is in this world.'' Bradley, who tweaked his sore left knee while trying to beat out a double play grounder in Monday's loss at Florida, was a late scratch Tuesday because of irritation in the patella tendon. Kent, a former NL MVP who feuded with Barry Bonds in San Francisco, defended himself following Bradley's accusations. "He can go ahead and say those types of things, and it comes from an incident that he still doesn't get. And that's a shame,'' Kent said. "If you think that I've got a problem with African-Americans, then go talk to Dusty Baker. Go talk to Dave Winfield, who took me under his wing. Go talk to Joe Carter -- all the guys that I idolized in this game and all the veteran players who taught me how to play this game. "That's a shame, and I take offense to that. That's just absolutely pathetic if it comes from his mouth. I will not get into this anymore, and that's all I've got to say.''
  11. if we were to be cocky and arrogant, we'd be going on yankee forum websites bashing on their team.
  12. Matt Perisho in his recent outing last night pitched 1.1 innings giving up 1 hit and strking out 2. Now in 10 games for the Paw Sox (11 innings) has a 2.45 ERA giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, 6 Walks, and 6 Ks. On NESN he was listed as one of the relievers Sox are going to call up for Sept 1
  13. Tony G didnt come in until the second half of the 8th inning, I like Tony G's chances with bases loaded and 2 outs, no offense to mirabelli but hes hitting like .200 with runners in scoring position/2 outs in 2005, thats like calling on kevin millar to be the pinch runner. Tony G is .351 in that category!! Schilling did his best in the 1st inning, hitting between 92 - 94
  14. but yea you see the yanks had the lead in july for a day with a 1/2 game lead, and lost it the very next day--and besides that the sox play 25 out of their last 37 games at home where they play their very best
  15. its funny how yankee fans are starting to come back all of a sudden, hmm... just how yankee fans were thinking theyd take the East when had a 10 game streak in May, then retook the lead in July with 1/2 game lead, but lost it the very next day
  16. as long as you're a more mature fan than "Jon_Papelboner" is. You are cool in my book
  17. well then everything thats been said on this board has no logic or merit
  18. right and how are the yankees doing against the worst teams?? Yes the sox schedule does favor them playing 25 out of their last 37 games at Fenway, play their best baseball there and still have that winning streak intact
  19. yeah exactly to think the Sox were to make the playoffs with an injured Foulke, Schilling and depleted bullpen--shouldnt that say something dude?
  20. best pitching: oddly enough it goes to mike remlinger who was only pitcher of the night to not allow any runs, 1 hit being the triple--but still id like to see him get DFA'd dishonorable mention: hope just a fluke has he had ony lasted 5 innings, 9 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk, but did have 5 Ks--Papelbon working two innings with 2 hits allowed tho one of those hits was on a solo shot best offense: alex cora with 2 RBIs dishonorable mention: the team's offense again not being able to move runners along and only beginning to rally when there was also two outs, also left bases loaded for the 4th consecutive time in 2 games best defense: Damon gunning down a man on 3rd base, cora's D at 2nd base dishonorable mention: having millar in left field, royals knowing right away he wont have an accurate and quick throw to home plate
  21. as i have posted that before last night after hearing it on NESN
  22. well if the red sox do this then that means all of baseball has to do this, points to Yankee Stadium fans signs of "1918", chants of Red Sox Suck, Whos Your Daddy
  23. why put him in a 2 run ball game is behind me, and yet he is still in the game
  24. and remlinger gives up a f***ing triple!!!!!!!!!!
  25. yep its remlinger. tito to win get gonzo or paps!!
