  1. I think Sox started talking like that before they heard Marlins were going to be offering Josh Beckett. With 7 starting pitchers now under contract for next season, a Wells trade I think has to be done. Lets not forget Wells will be 43 and is starting to have nagging injuries, one that had kept him out for a month. Sox starting pitchers Josh Beckett Curt Schilling David Wells Jonathan Papelbon Tim Wakefield Matt Clement Bronson Arroyo
  2. i am literally jumping up and down right now!!! once this is all set and done, a big step in the right direction for 2006. If Beckett can stay healthy as well as Schilling, then i got good feelings for this rotation. A 3 game series with Beckett, Schilling and Papelbon pitching... who else is counting down the days for that
  3. yahoo sports is indicating a decision on the Marlins part will be made by the end of today. Im kind of reeling for this, only if Lester isnt part of the deal. Hanley & Sanchez for Lowell & Beckett. Sox can check off a new 1st baseman in Lowell and a top of the order starting pitcher. Sox should even up the ante by adding Bronson. He'll be in a pitcher's park and close to his hometown which is in Key West. He could be more of a force in the NL.
  4. looks like the Rangers arent shying away from giving the marlins one of their top prospects. An offer is on the table...
  5. is Big Ben going to be back for next week's game?
  6. The Patriots D will face their true test next Sunday against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are the toughest team on the Pats's 2nd half of their schedule. Secondary will have their hands full with the elsuive Tony Gonzalez. for Patriots fans Pluses to think about --Even without Faulk and Dillon, the Evans/Pass duo tore up almost 130 rushing yards --The Patriots D-Line is starting to be a brick wall to the running game, 77 yards allowed to Miami and 87 yards allowed to New Orleans --"I get a little help from my friends", Expected to return for the Chiefs game are Corey Dillon, Kevin Faulk, Matt Light, Bethel Johnson, David Givens, Monty Beisel, and Daniel Graham --In Belichick we trust --Fellow future Hall of Famers Tom Brady and Adam Vinatieri, nuff said
  7. wow just damn. Last week the Jets are beat by the Panthers in a 30-3 mauling. The Broncos have shutout them at their own stadium. Jets offense held onto the ball for just 18 of the 60 minutes played, gave up 5 turnovers. The three Jets "fill-in" quarterbacks used were no match for Denver. This is simply not their year. Now Brooks Bollinger will be out for some time. He has sustained a concussion and was seen vomiting on the sideline. Vinny Testaverde had gotten hurt again. Kliff Kingsbury is expected to be the starter against the Saints next Sunday.
  8. Giants are my pick to win the NFC
  9. patriots win yet another nailbiter. their defense was top noth but started to fall apart midway into the 2nd quarter onto the 4th quarter drive by the saints which had almost tied it, saved by eugene wilson's inteception in the endzone. Tom Brady finished with 222 yards, mostly consistent with short passes, but still did have 3 TDs and no INT's. Wasn't he trying to much on the hail mary's? I at least guessed right Pats would score 24. first time win back to back games, and lead the AFC east 6-4 Another Plus: We have no Corey Dillon, no Kevin Faulk. Worry? Heath Evans: 74 yards, looks like he didnt come back down to what he's been like before Patrick Pass: 53 yards, thats 2 fullbacks getting 127 yards--better than Dillon has done this season in a single game
  10. oh we got to keep lester over sanchez. I have this great vision of a 1-2 punch by papelbon and lester in the red sox rotation
  11. Beattie, hell no. This is the guy who was GM of the Expos and traded ace pedro away for carl pavano, look what he got and led the Expos to... And lets see the Orioles, where have they gone in his tenure, really nowhere. His signings for them have included Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro and the drunk Sydney Ponson.
  12. Wilder really does stand out as the top candidate, another one who has overseen player evaluation the Braves' minor league systems. hmm, Wilder, Bowden, or Beatie i dont have to think I'll take Wilder please
  13. damn the marlins will certainly be a different looking team in 2006, they seem to really be cleaning house
  14. with Giles consistent high OBP each season (career .413 OBP), doesnt that make him a suitable leadoff hitter?
  15. Im just really taken aback, he is such an awesome guy. I had gotten a 2006 Red Sox Calendar, and $100 gift card!! to my most fav restaraunt the Texas Roadhouse.
  16. Question is: Why have any talks between the Sox and Padres include dave roberts name if stern and kapler are in their plans? hmmm
  17. Im not entirely sure how much time Hansen will be in the majors for 2006, what is certain is that he along with DelCarmen will start the season off in Pawtucket, call-ups during the season of course. Timlin needs a co-setup man, hopfeully if Sox are able to aquire Padres' Akinori Otsuka. Long Relief- Lenny DiNardo Lefty Outs- Mike Myers Set-Up Men- Akinori Otsuka Mike Timlin Closer- Keith Foulke (will be on short leash of course) I'd like if possible that 6th spot to go to free agent BJ Ryan, but thats a big if as he is wanted by just about every team. For 2007 that does leave 2 open spots for DelCarmen and Hansen. That being from Sox most likely letting Foulke walk or trade him during July trade month, and Mike Timlin seems to be entering his last season.
  18. IMO there will be so many changes from near future to spring training, you shouldnt really worry right now about the roster. There's just 37 names listed also, I would find it hard to believe they let Dustin Pedroia be grabbed by another team. Abe Alvarez- trade bait Bronson Arroyo- likely to be involved in any trade talks for a 1st baseman Matt Clement- could be used as trade bait if a free agent starting pitcher is signed Chad Bradford- dont see him as a Sox in 2006 Wade Miller- not in Sox's plans David Wells- will either retire or be traded Roberto Petagine- Youmiri Giants are looking to reacquire him Kelly Shoppach- trade bait ---------------------------------------- and yes i can understand gabe kapler being left off the roster, its not even a 100% definite that he will be back by spring training. Besides it is said anyway that any trade talks between the Sox and Padres has included re-acquiring Dave Roberts.
  19. good for you guys if you get him, Brian Giles is a hard-working and damn respectable player. He would be one of the few yankee batters i dont start booing like Bernie Williams, no offense that is.
  20. eh, im happy for the Cubs. Theyve been my favorite national league team since god knows when. Im rooting for them to continue this streak of teams winning first championships with big gaps in between. If they add Rafal Furcal and a new starting pitcher like Matt Morris, they'll be a much stronger team for sure.
  21. the Cubs, Angels and Tigers have spoken interest in damon
  22. its never a good month for Orioles players
  23. im going out as well and predict the score of pats vs saints. with pats defense showing new light in ways we havent seen this season, they now face the Saints... come out on top 24-13 11/20 1:00 ET Carolina -3 At Chicago 11/20 1:00 ET Jacksonville -4 At Tennessee 11/20 4:15 ET Indianapolis -5.5 At Cincinnati 11/20 1:00 ET At New England -9.5 New Orleans 11/20 1:00 ET At St. Louis -9.5 Arizona 11/20 1:00 ET At Atlanta -6 Tampa Bay 11/20 1:00 ET At Washington -6 Oakland 11/20 1:00 ET At Dallas -8 Detroit 11/20 1:00 ET At NY Giants -7.5 Philadelphia 11/20 1:00 ET At Cleveland -2 Miami 11/20 4:05 ET Seattle -12.5 At San Francisco 11/20 4:15 ET At San Diego -10.5 Buffalo 11/20 4:15 ET At Denver -13 NY Jets 11/20 1:00 ET Pittsburgh -4.5 At Baltimore 11/20 8:35 ET Kansas City -7 At Houston Monday Night Football Point Spread 11/21 9:05 ET At Green Bay -4.5 Minnesota
