  1. Couple of advantages for Boston for having Lugo, much smaller contract. Lugo holds a .337 batting avg at Fenway Park in 26 games. Yet... Julio Lugo basically averages 20+ errors a season. Rent has edge with winning 2 golden gloves before. I dont see a need as well to trade Renterria away.
  2. The 2006 team is sure to look entirely different come opening day...
  3. With Damon, I think if Sox were to offer him 4 years/$40-45 million, Damon would take strong consideration toward staying with Boston. He has long said he wants to stay with the Red Sox. True with who his agent is, but I remember Boras's client in Jason Varitek was being tagged at a higher cost than what the Sox had actually ended up signing him for.
  4. actually Loretta's contract is just through next season. According to Gordon Edes, Tony G is asking for a contract of 2 or 3 years.
  5. A big yes to Duchscherer if Sox are able to get him. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6767/career
  6. yeah Lugo would probably shift to 2nd base, which i have no problem with. I think Sox are going to keep edgar and give him the benefit of the doubt, besides theres still 3 seasons/$30 million left on his contract
  7. foxsports is now announcing its official.
  8. The Sox would also receive Darin Erstad. I dont like this deal unless it will include Santana, which probably wont happen.
  9. that better be just a rumor, i dont want either of those pitchers
  10. Im with you there, SFOC ------------------------- Im just not sure if Sox should take a chance again on Wade Miller.
  11. If done, at least Glaus would give us a slugger in Manny's absence. I just hope Papa Jack could work with him to get the K's done as well as a move to 1st base could get his errors down. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2005/12/06/progress_seen_in_ramirez_talks/
  12. According to MLB.com, the first day of the Winter meetings saw the Red Sox having hot pursuit of Aubrey who can play 1st base as well as the outfield positions.. He would being another big bat to Boston, capable of 20+ HRs and 100+/- RBIs.
  13. damn Philadelphia you suck... which is why I chose Seattle
  14. This recognition goes far from the recent superbowl he had led his team to. The accolades he is piling up, 3 superbowls and 9-0 in the playoffs before he turned 28.... even if you're a fan of another football team, you cant get by how impressive of a QB he has become since he took over for Drew Bledsoe. Let alone he wasnt drafted until the 6th round.
  15. otherwise slow news day thus far, which we know could change very quickly. One note of interest, the Boston Herald has reported Johnny Damon and Scott Boras will be meeting with the Sox GM by Committe to try and hash out a deal with one another. Boston previously offered 3 years/$28 million, which Im sure they will be offering something more appealing than that. fingers crossed
  16. Wakefield with no Mirabelli would be a significant downgrade, wasnt his ERA up near 8 this season when Varitek caught for him? --------------------------------- As for Tony G Ive been a longtime advocater for him staying onboard with Boston ever since I heard a trade was done in July to acquire him. Something would have to be worked out since Tony is seeking a 2 or 3 year deal as a starter, which he does deserve to have.
  17. Frank Thomas is only getting interest from teams for one specific reason, to use him as a DH. Boston already has one in Ortiz and doesnt need an injury prone 1st baseman that Thomas most certainly is. Id take Olerud over him in an instant The Orioles, Twins, and A's are the most likely suitors.
  18. The Providence Journal is reporting there were unconfirmed reports that the Yankees have offered Damon a 3 year contract worth $39 million. If this is true, this surely something the Sox should counter with. At the most it should be 4 years/$40-45 million Ken Rosenthal who has been correct on about just every offseason move has said the Red Sox are expressing late interest in 38 year old closer Trevor Hoffman.
  19. eh not a blowout with the Pats... but just 165 total yards allowed by our shaky defense? yes please held to 3 points? yes please Pats rushing racking up 146 yards? yes please Given this was the Jets the Patriots had played, but Im sure the rest of the season should be smooth sailing. Brady looked more at ease with the returns of Dillon, Faulk, and Givens who all contributed today greatly. Like Faulk with 3 big catches that came on 3rd and long
  20. one stat jumps out on me that Patriots should take advantage of. The Jets are dead last in average time of possesuion each game, averaging 26 minutes.
