  1. if it is true, Id just suggest then for marte to have it now, to get it out of the way. And be ready for opening day 2007 since he would be out for a year.
  2. i just posted a link to the boston herald site, which indicates the Sox will promote from within. It is expected to be announced within the next several days.
  3. A suitable trade would be straight up Manny for Tejada. No prospects involved. Im sure Sox execs will be working on this one. Lets not forget Manny can easily veto this trade.
  4. interesting stats about Soriano this past season batting at his home park in Texas, a .315 clip Away games... .224 averages 20+ errors a season averages 40 walks or less a season bats weak when there are RISP
  5. sorry to shut down your dream, guys. The Red Sox are expected soon to announce Craig Shipley and Jed Hoyer as co-GMs. They are Theo's guys so Im happy. As well as very frigging happy we dont have Beattie running the show. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=116270&format=&page=1
  6. David Wells is 95% certain to be traded. Its now looking more likely it would to be to San Diego, for one of their top setup man. A reliever at the top of his game for a 43 year old pitcher whose starting to having knee problems? Yes please.
  7. i was expecting them to show up. The only posts they do on here have been about bashing Edgar. Wow so much insight they bring to talk sox!! ----------------------------------- Boston Herald: In Marte, 22, the Red Sox acquired the Braves’ top-ranked prospect and the No. 9 ranked prospect in all of baseball according to Baseball America. Last season, Marte hit 20 home runs with 74 RBI for Triple-A Richmond. He has hit at least 20 home runs in three of the last four seasons. He is expected to start 2006 at Triple-A Pawtucket, unless he earns a spot in left field (if Manny Ramirez goes in a trade) or first base. Third base is currently occupied by newcomer Mike Lowell, who is signed through 2007. “We do see him as a future third baseman, yes,” Lajoie said. “In my mind, I’d like to see him get into our lineup next season.” After the trade was announced, one baseball source said another team that was interested in Marte turned away after the Braves acknowledged the player had a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of an elbow. A Red Sox official said Marte is healthy and that the team reviewed his medical file.
  8. did i shut down a trade for tejada?? no i didnt you dont need to give me his stats dude, i know them all. (1) I just pointed out that I highly regard Lester and know he has a place here in Boston. Nothing wrong with me doing so. (2) These are all just speculated talks, no official announcements have come yet if the Orioles will trade him and to what teams.
  9. well im im ok with any trade that gets tejada, just dont have lester be part of the mix
  10. Huh, how so? People are choosing not to vote for Palmeiro because he is a cheater and had even lied to congress about it.
  11. I really dont think the Sox would be willing to give up Lester. Why else did they balk when teams asked for him over Sanchez? Because he is almost writen in stone for their plans, setting up to be a part of the 2007 young solid rotation they are envisioning.
  12. This is a good pick up for the O's
  13. Thank you Billy for clutch hit after clutch hit (2004 ALCS) and the solid D you had delivered for the Sox the past 3 seasons. You will be missed http://cbs4boston.com/sports/local_story_342162930.html
  14. if only his contract wasnt so much...
  15. Gordon Edes has noted several times this past week the latest offer the Sox have made to Damon was 4 years/north of $40 million
  16. Some stats on Myers Career against Boston in 24 games, 1-0 record with a 1.80 ERA 63 games pitched at Fenway Park, 3-0 record with a 2.82 ERA 17 games pitched at Yankee Stadium, 0-1 record & 2 saves with a 4.66 ERA Sox batters vs Myers *Johnny Damon, 2 for 10 (.200 avg) Walk, 4 Ks *Tony Graffanino, 0 for 1 *Gabe Kapler, 0 for 1, RBI, Walk Mike Lowell, 2 for 2 (1.000 avg) Double, Walk Trot Nixon, 0 for 1, K David Ortiz, 0 for 2, K Manny Ramirez, 1 for 1
  17. A trade of David Wells has to bring back to Boston some quality relief pitching. Scott Linebrink is big on the Sox's radar, and with the re-signing of Hoffman, it could actually happen. Late innings: Set-Up Men- Guillermo Mota Mike Timlin Scott Linebrink Closer- Keith Foulke Foulke will be on a short leash. Heck the Sox could decide to make him the closer before the season starts.
  18. fine i'll edit my post then
  19. Candidates to be the opening day shortstop are Alex Cora, Alex Gonzalez, Pokey Reese, and Royce Clayton. Tony G's name can also be tossed in the ring for consideration. ---------------------- I'm high on this kid Marte. Many see him as an all-star caliber player
  20. I agree, Gonzalez is the most viable option among those 3 possible candidates. -------------------------------------
  21. EDIT: The Sox have told the Braves they intend to keep the prized prospect and will not trade him to the Devil Rays. Possible candidates include Alex Gonzalez, Royce Clayton, and former sox Pokey Reese
  22. Lowell is a two-time gold glove 3rd baseman, so I dont think they would move him for a rookie. He could either start the season in Pawtucket or on the opening day roster as part of a Youk/Marte 1st base platoon. He could still be dealt to the D-Rays along with Shoppach and Arroyo. That would see sox get Aubrey Huff and Danyz Baez, big no on Julio Lugo part of that deal.
