  1. A Yankee fan telling Sox fans to return merchandise for a player we were dead set on getting because he is not coming to your rivalk team... that is what I perceive as trollish
  2. http://www.nypost.com/seven/12122006/sports/yankees/yanks__bosox_gun_for_buc_yankees_george_king.htm Seems we have ourselves a showdown here... Yankees are said to be offering Melky Cabrera & Scott Proctor Sox are said to be offering Coco Crisp
  3. HeadofSoxNation", the post is coming from a Yankee fan saying for us to return "Matsuzaka" jerseys because he's not coming to Boston And no he's only right if its confirmed that D-Mat is returing to Japan
  4. What the ******* Boras is. He's trying to keep Matsuzaka from talking to Boston (which is something the Sox can bring a case to Bud Selig), he knows that Matsuzaka will be more inclined to get a deal done with Boston
  5. 2007 offseason: Mark Buerhle Doug Davis Bartolo Colon Livan Hernandez Jason Jennings John Smoltz Jake Westbrook Carlos Zambrano 2008 offseason: C.C. Sabathia Bronson Arroyo Jeremy Bonderman Jon Garland John Lackey Derek Lowe Pedro Martinez Mike Mussina Jake Peavy Brad Penny Mark Prior Ben Sheets Javier Vazquez
  6. I agree with you there buddy! I knew all along that the actual negotiations would happen down to the wire. Also knowing full well that the Sox will not let Matsuzaka go without a fight, as some posters have suggested the opposite Sox officials havent spoken to D-Mat (who is currently in LA with Boras) since the dinner they had with him last month. It seemed evident tha Boras was with-holding them from even speaking to them. As well as him stalling D-Mat's first trip to Boston only if he is actually signed.... Solution: The Yawkey Way gang fly to LA to get all in his face Theo knows that it will take a king's ransom to get this "Asian Pedro", sacrifices must be made
  7. Jason Varitek's nickname...
  8. The Sox are currently at $130 million for the 2007 payroll, the bid never factored in the payroll whatsoever. Zito as one to be prone to giving up the long ball would be killed at his games at Fenway Park. The Rangers put a bid on him for 6 years/$102 million. The Sox would have to match or go even higher. Then Clemens' contract would have to be around the offer they made him last year which was a pro-rated $21 million The Sox payroll would sky rocket to the $160-170 million range
  9. They dont have to pay a cent of the $51.1 million if he returns to Japan
  10. JD Drew doesnt have to be the "main guy" in Boston. There's already established veteran leaders in Varitek, Wakefield, Schilling, Ortiz, Timlin and Lowell. Drew just has to focus on producing the way he is able to
  11. For those that are interested, in Gordon Edes' chat on Boston.com he reported that JD Drew and Julio Lugo are now both present in Boston to undergo their physicals. A dual press conference of where they receive their cap & jersey should be held tomorrow in the 12-5 time frame
  12. This was from Boston.com. Boras has been holding the Sox from even talking to Matsuzaka himself since that one dinner they had with him. Sean MacAdams has said recently that if the Sox have enough proof, they can bring a case to Bud Selig about Boras' handling of the negotiations.
  13. Hansack is my top choice to be Boston's long inning reliever, but Im not so sure about him in the closer's role
  14. Truthfully my favorite NL team has been the Cubs. One grandfather of mine was a die-hard Sox fan, the other a die-hard Cubs fan. So thats how that all started, both got along because they were on same wave lengths about their respected team's droughts. The Cubs are long over-due... thats an understatement as they are approaching the 100 year anniversary. They have had quite the offseason, might they make a run to at least get the NL wild card?
  15. IMO if the Sox hopefully reconsider the deal, I do believe Bowden woulld be the better choice to trade away. Bucholz shows a bit more upside and is drawing just rave reviews. Now, Daniel Bard is not trade-able as of now because he was just drafted and yet to pitch in a minor league game for the Sox. Scouts have compared him to AJ Burnett with a blazing fastball in the 94-98 range
  16. For Zito's best interests, he should be in the Nl and a pitcher's park. Remember Wayback Beckett of last year? Zito, prone to giving up the long ball, is not a good fit for Fenway Park. Id be very surprised if he could have a sub 4.00 ERA while pitching in the AL East, facing New York 3-6 times and previously mentioned having Fenway as his haven The Boston Herald and olther sources are suggesting Clemens could be a good bet to step in if they dont sign Matsuzaka. But he would be a mid-season signing... so the first 2-3 months of the season we would see a conga line of retreads in the 5th spot until Clemens might be with the team?
  17. Im sure Yankee fans would like to agree with that statement since Arod is a choker Nancy boy when it comes to the pivotal moment
  18. All I said was that all 3 are expected to make the majors around the same time (all 3 are estimated 2009/2010). Where did I say that they are slotted to be in the rotation that instant? Also did I not say that hopefully the first 4 slots would be filled by *Matsuzaka, Beckett, Papelbon and Lester?
  19. That is true, I was just referring to the people Ive talked to outside of taksox and listening to WEEI. The Sox have in the system: Bucholz, Bowden and Bard. All 3 are expected to make the majors around the same time, exception being that the Sox could hopefully already have 4 slots filled. I would be for a Bucholz (would rather have Bowden included)/Hansen trade. But Gammons has indicated the Sox turned down such a trade
