  1. I checked some stats, the largest lead ever coughed up in baseball was the NY Giants who had held a 15 game lead on July 4th. The Boston Braves (nicknamed the Miracle Braves) were dead last in 8th place, played .782 ball (68-19) for 3 months to capture the division lead
  2. The largest division lead in the history of baseball? Stats to back that up? Yes 1978 comments are coming from you and other Yankee fans, but this is not like 1978. That year they didnt have a wild card to fall back on and plus the Sox had the 14.5 game lead in August. Now that is what I call a choke Sox have 6 games left, all at home, and 3 of those games will have Beckett starting 1 and Schilling starting 2. Im confident in this team going 3-3 or 4-2 the rest of the way, 96-97 wins is not a season to frown upon or call a choke. The Yankees had by far the best second half I have ever seen. I give them major props for doing so
  3. Thats your best defense? --- Yankee fans had to endure watching their championship team... not being able to win any of the last 4 games against their heated rival --- It happened at your park
  4. What a give me save for Joba-- Thigpen, Overbay who is about to have hand surgery, and Reed Johnson (.235 on the year). Id like to hear Torre's thoughts on what his plan is if Pettitte leaves after the 6th inning with the lead
  5. No doubt, lets go for the division. But at the same time, get the starters some rest before October
  6. rotoworld
  7. Pedroia gets the night off. Cora in his place, batting 2nd. Mirabelli returns to catch Wake Wakefield this season vs Tampa Bay in 5 games, 4-1 with a 4.10 ERA. At Tropicana Field in 2 games, 2-1 with an 2.50 ERA. On the road in 15 games, 7-8 with a 4.26 ERA Jackson this season vs Boston in 4 games, 2-1 with a 5.70 ERA. At home in 14 games, 3-8 with a 6.58 ERA
  8. Drew cant be sat in the playoffs after he starts coming around with the power numbers. Id say sit Coco and have Ellsbury lead off and play center. Then late in the game, Coco will be a valuable asset as a defensive replacement and pinch runner
  9. Actually Jacko, Ive seen Dice-K bounce back his last 2 starts. His start against the Yankees shouldve given him the W but as you know the 5 run lead in the 8th was blown easily. Then last night they had Dice-K at 100 pitches after 6 innings (they want rest & more confidence in himself), and the bullpen isnt at all worked hard, hand the ball to Delcarmen to start the 7th. It didnt help matters that Lopez hasnt been a lefty specialist. But oh well Sox won the game in grand fashion Im not trying to jinx or even fool myself. But like in 2004 the Sox had 2 starters anchoring the staff, the ace Schilling and Pedro who started to revert to more of a finesse pitcher that he is now. Wakefield was Wakefield, but more concerning entering the playoffs was the season that Lowe had endured. Lowe only got to start because of the injury to Schilling and Id say he stepped up.

  11. Live it up boys, you deserve the celebration. On to October  What a game, this month we have seen the offense more resilient when it comes to the end of the game and fighting back from deficits
  12. Holy s***!! Lugo takes it to his former team. Ellsbury follows it up with a double, kid needs to start in the playoffs
  13. I kid its just the adrenaline of playoff baseball coming closer
  14. Hinske on 2nd with no outs, cmon boys!
  15. Suck on it Gom!!!!!!!! Oh Captain my Captain ties it up mother f***er
  16. Yes the W-L record means he has been a s***** pitcher. He's gotten lack of run support and some s***** bullpen backup when he's been out there. Sorry your predictions have never held water here, why should we start listening now
  17. Umm Schilling since he's come back from the DL 8 games (2-4, 3.55 ERA) 50.2 innings, 50 Hits, 21 Runs (20 ER), 8 HRs, 4 Walks, 24 Ks
  18. Theres our 3-4 striking out foolishly, tick tock tick tock. And Drew flies out to end the 8th. Tek/Hinske/Crisp against Reyes
  19. Hey Javy, you see what Timlin just did? Thats what you do when you get a quick 0-2 count. Lets see if the Sox can battle back against Wheeler & Reyes. If not, 1.5 game lead will reappear
  20. Im loving Drew, he has really turned it on at the best time to do so EDIT: Just like that, Lopez with the f***ing save. Dice-K the past month has been done in by the offense and the bullpen.
  21. Blah the 4th inning woes continue for Dice-K
  22. 24 innings last 2 games, pray that Clemens can give a long solid outing tomorrow
  23. Matsuzaka this season on the road in 18 games, 7-8 with a 4.02 ERA
