  1. In a league that cares so much about players and teams looking presentable (see: fines for a helmet sticker in memory of a fallen friend or fines for socks), I'm shocked that the higher-ups for the NFL don't care. He looks homeless on the sideline. Yet, all the League cared about was that they wore team apparel, and when two coaches wanted to honor past coaches and look respectable, they didn't let them until this week. It's ridiculous. This -- how Del Rio and Nolan looked this week -- is how coaches should look.
  2. I should add that Jack Del Rio of the Jaguars will be wearing a suit on the sidelines as well. I'd like to see more coaches in suits on the sidelines.
  3. Who wears a suit?! How about... http://images.sportsnetwork.com/football/nfl/allsport/cowboys/ex/landry_tom.jpg http://www.americansportscastersonline.com/images/hankstram.jpg http://www.bamafever.com/cw2/Assets/product_full/BEARPOSTERfull.jpg http://www.hickoksports.com/images/lombardi_vince.jpg Just some of the greatest coaches of all-time... What looks bad is Belichick looking homeless on the sideline. http://photos.signonsandiego.com/gallery1.5/albums/chargers-patriots/CHARGERS7.jpg It's not an attack on Belichick, it's just that he's the best example of coaches looking bad on the sidelines.
  4. Anyone catch the 49ers game yesterday? The NFL finally allowed Mike Nolan to wear a suit... http://espn-i.starwave.com/media/apphoto/472679a3-071f-456e-829a-e27a9390ebd0.jpg
  5. This game was at the tailend of a pre-thanksgiving get together between me and my friends where I drank more before the game than I had intended... but I'm not mad or upset after this loss. It may be the alcohol, but I usually don't take losses this well. Great game though, for what it was. Wish the Broncos could've held on. I don't like Larry Coyer...
  6. This could get fun... Miami wants to go after Steve Spurrier when they fire Coker. http://x.go.com/cgi/x.pl?goto=http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2668273&name=FPT-2668273-111911&srvc=sz I would love to see Spurrier back on the sidelines of a major football university in Florida.
  7. That's too bad. He seemed like a great guy and was a huge part of what makes this rivalry so great. RIP Bo. I can't see Michigan losing this game now. They'll win it for Bo.
  8. I think he meant to poll the players on whether or not they like the BCS...
  9. Hester just tied the record for the longest return in the history of the League after Feeley missed a FG short. Terrible decision making by the Giants, going for the first down instead of setting up the shorter FG. I also don't like the decision to kick it. I say pooch it and pin Grossman back.
  10. I reached this point at one point last season. You've reached it much sooner than I had for my Nuggets, though. I remember it as clear as day. The Nuggets head into the half with a 77-57 lead over the Clippers. The offense was on fire and considering we were up by 20... the game was in the bag. We went on to score 16 points in the 3rd, and 16 points again in the 4th to lose. How does a team follow up a 77 point half with a 32 point half?!
  11. The Javon pickup worked out better than i could ever dream. He only had two catches, but one came when we had no offense what-so-ever on a 40+ yard touchdown on a quick slant, I believe (I didn't see the play really well since I was working). Javon is just extremely good. I used to watch Packers games th year before last and wish I had Javon -- I think he's better now. As for the game... you won't see my calling for Jay Cutler ever, but today this game looked like a lost cause, even when we were only down 6. So my thought was to give him a chance. The defense played good but I would've liked some picks created by pressuring Walter, but we got some turnovers late. Jake looked bad for the most part, but he looked good in the 4th quarter aside from one bad throw which should've been a pick. But even then, it wouldn't have been too costly of an INT. Thank god Shanahan's smarter than me and didn't call for Jay Cutler. We're a 7-2 football team and we don't need the controversy that'd follow a decision like that. The win was a win. You're going to get games like this in the NFL. What's important is that you win them, not that you look pretty doing it.
  12. Two catches, 61 yards and touchdown.
  13. Larry Coyer sucks at D-Coordinator. We've got a QB that got sacked 9 times last week, showed obvious signs of frustration and we make no attempt to get some linebackers in his face. Can't complain too much, I guess. The defense has played good. But we could be forcing turnovers...
  14. Dallas, Denver, and Phoenix all suck and Atlanta's on top of the East... What the hell is wrong with the NBA this season? The Nuggets are a mystery to me. They've been in a position to break each of their games open, and have had leads late, too, but they have no idea how to win games. How does a playoff team from last year not know how to win games?
  15. Eh, the BCS isn't THAT bad. One thing that'd help a ton is that their shouldn't be ANY polls until midway through the season. Teams like Rutgers never had a chance from the start based on their ranking. I saw it described by, I think John Saunders, best... it's like a horserace where you disqualify the winner because nobody thought he was good enough to win before the race. Great comeback for the Scarlet Knights.
  16. Santa Clara's has turned down proposals for two teams to move there because they want their city in the teams name. If they move to Santa Clara, there's a chance they become the Santa Clara 49ers. Anywhere else and they certainly take on the cities name. Los Angeles 49ers? No thank you. We're talking about one of the teams with the proudest history in the league -- the 1971 Patriots... not so much.
  17. Sad day for this once proud franchise. John York seems determined to drive away every fan. Not many owners in professional sports are worse.
  18. The interesting question is whether or not they retain the name Oakland A's or they risk alienating some of their Oakland fanbase to try and draw more fans from nearby San Jose by becoming the San Jose A's. I don't believe there's anything to stop them from doing so, is there?
  19. I have a great interest in this game because whenever I do a Franchise with my buddy in Madden, I trade for, and dominate with, Seneca Wallace and he gets the start for Seattle. Looks pretty good after the first drive!
  20. Javon Walker is absolutely amazing. I feel bad for Ike Taylor because I watched Darrent Williams go through it last week and Foxworth go through it in the AFC Championship game. But whatever, I'll take it.
  21. Air Bailey, right there. Not a bad throw against most corners, but Champ got up for that one.
  22. This is where we saw how good or bad of a D-Coordinator Larry Coyer is. The Colts gave the league a blueprint on how to beat this Broncos defense. Larry Coyer better adjust and get some pressure on the QB. Whether it's Big Ben this week or whomever in the future. I don't think he's a very good Defensive Coordinator, personally. edit: 14-10 at the half and the way the game is going in terms of them moving the ball and us not, it's starting to look like the AFC Championship game, except the Broncos are taking advantage of some mistakes. I'll be shocked if we win this game, personally. But we'll have the opportunity on these deep balls all day long, it appears.
