I can't stand him, usually, but he's really stepped it up in the three games since the brawl. My problem with him is that since we usually have no half court offense, he used to dribble the ball around for about 18 seconds and then pass the ball to someone who's not anywhere near open enough to take a shot. But him and Iverson have great chemistry together. I think it's that they both open up space on the court for one another to work. Or more or less that Iverson opens up room for him to work. When he's on he can be lethal. When he's bad, though, he's terrible.
-
Yeah, he was damn good. I hope this begins to answer the question of whether he and 'Melo can play together. He's been playing very, very unselfish in his first two games. His passing is contagious too. The guy's a lot of fun to watch. As much as I hate Earl Boykins, the two of them have some great chemistry, so far.

I actually won? It's a festivus miracle!

Dallas lost that game in the trenches. The Eagles were winning every single battle at the line of scrimmage. I didn't think that Eagles offense would be able to go into Dallas and push around the Cowboys but they did it. The score indicates that the game was a lot closer than it actually was.

http://espn-i.starwave.com/media/apphoto/DXA11612230325.jpg Iverson looks good in blue and yellow. This offense is going to be fun to watch. Just had about 14 points in a 2 minute stretch. Iverson contributing two three pointers to that cause.

Iverson makes his debut tonight at home against Sacramento! I'm so pumped! :D Edit: Alright, so it's not actually known if he will play tonight since all parties involved in the deal need to take a physical and the blizzard has made it difficult to get anything done these last few days. His plane was supposed to arrive 3 hours before tipoff, so around 4ish mountain time, but even if he gets his physical and Miller and Joe Smith don't, he can't play. But also, the game time may be moved back since the Kings had to fly into Colorado Springs, which is 70 miles away from Denver.

Oregon got drubbed. I have a theory, since the players have input into Oregon's uniforms, apparently. Is it becoming a distraction? It's like the football program itself is worrying more about what they're wearing than who they're playing. All the attention on the uniforms, and all the input the players have, and how good and intimidating they probably think they look, I think it's realistic to believe that it's becoming a distraction to the team. Not a big one, but any distraction has an impact. Anyone buy into this at all?
-
Very bright future of the Celtics, I think. Stupid blizzard. I'm dieing to see some Nuggets action, particularly with AI, now. His first game with the team will be tomorrow night. The Suns managed to get into Denver for last night's game but the game was still postponed because they'd have been playing in front of a completely empty arena. It's been hell trying to get around Colorado today... I can't even imagine how bad it would've been attempting to get to the game last night. Also, within thirty minutes of the trade being announced, Denver sold 340 season ticket packages. It was a great move from all aspects by the team. They'll sell the Pepsi Center out and they'll be among the tops in road attendance. Plus all of the AI jerseys that are going to sell.

I'm shocked that Lynch keeps making Pro Bowls. He's completely useless in coverage -- I wish Coyer understood that.

Dallas. They got it in the trade that sent Skita and Rodney White to Golden State. Golden State had got it in the Erick Dampier deal.

I have watched every single Broncos game this season. I saw every game Jake played, the good ones and the bad ones. At his worst, Jake never looked as bad as Jay Cutler did in the Seattle game and in the first half against San Diego. I have nothing against Cutler, I want him to be great, I have no loyalty I feel I need to keep to Jake -- I'm calling it exactly like I see it. Jake didn't lose us the Indianapolis or or first San Diego game. Larry Coyers game planning did, as well as his inability to adjust said game plan. Jake had a lot of things going against him. Inconsistent running game (Jay Cutler has had the better side of the running game), Javon Walker was his only capable WR and he never had a chance to develop any sort of chemisty with Brandon Marshall, which I'd assume Jay Cutler did through getting more snaps together in practice. The playcalling was as vanilla as playcalling can get. In the Seattle game, Cutler missed open WR's downfield, and only managed to hit wide open underneath routes, and one route in which he almost overthrew the TE on a TD. He gave them 7 points and all of the momentum on his dumb decision. That play lost as that game, as much as you hate to believe it. Jake couldn't have played any better against Indy. The stats don't show how good he was. He played well enough at home against San Diego to get a 17 point lead.
-
But lost gets Iversons ability to pass the basketball. When was the last time he had the talent around him? He's not the selfish player everybody makes him out to be. He wants to win basketball games above all.
-
With Jake we had losses to the Colts, Chargers (in which the defensive blew a 17 point lead), and the Chiefs in Arrowhead. We were in a good position to win each game. What did he cost us? The entire offense was terrible against St. Louis. With Jake, we win the Rams game because Cutler did nothing to contribute to us being close. We rode the back of Tatum Bell the entire game. The game changed when Cutler through up an ill advised pass for a Seahawks TD. 70 yards through 55 minutes, and the last 70 were because of a great effort by Brandon Marshall.
-
But the fact that he's averaging more PPG without having the monster games Kobe has backs up my point that 'Melo is the most consistent, which is what I was saying. Kobe's had a lot of 19 and 20 point games this year. If you look at 'Melos game log, it's 30+ points all the way down except for a few games, almost all of those games were in limited time. That's what I'm saying. Kobe is certainly the best scorer.
-
I'd argue that 'Melo is the best scorer in the League in terms of consistency. He shoots a better percentage than all of the guys you named. He's not going to suddenly go off and put up 60 in a game, his games not built to be able to do that. However, more often than the rest of the guys, you can expect 'Melo to give you somewhere between 30 and 40 points a game. He scores more points than anybody in the league and he does it with a better shooting percentage than any guard within the top 20 in scoring. He's managed to lead the league in scoring without having any monster scoring games. That says a lot. He may not shoot the three with all that much effectiveness, he does shoot it better than Wade, though. Again, it's going to be entertaining watching teams pick their poison. I'm not the greatest basketball strategist, so I'm not sure how effectively you could maintain a double team on two separate players, but if it's possible, teams would do so at the risk of JR Smith ripping them apart.
-
Yeah, hardly a lock. Top three or four in the West is the highest I would go in describing them. No more double and triple teaming Melo in the playoffs anymore, though!
-
It all depends on what King does with these draft picks. It's a deep draft, but they won't be great picks.
-
Also, they were both pretty close in Athens and they have something in common... they've both been Larry Brown's whipping boy.
-
I think AI's to the point where he'll be willing to change his game for the sake of a chance at a Championship. He's said in the past that all he has is individual achievements that don't mean s***. He wants to win. He's a great passer too. That's something people forget about him. I think they'll be able to, I'm worried about the inevitable clash somebody's going to have with George Karl at some point in Karl's tenure in Denver... It'll be fun watching teams decide whether they want to double team 'Melo or AI.
-
Jay Cutler lost us the Seattle game. His growing pains cost us a game and we're fighting for the playoffs. I'd rather have that extra win and Jake Plummer. Cutler and the offense look absolutely terrible for 2.5 halves, and has looked good for 2.5 halves. Two of the good halves were against the Cardinals...
-
They could've had a 20 year old that's averaging 18 a game, and a young big man with the tools to become very, very good. Instead they take an aging PG and as you pointed out, and Joe Smith, who in addition to having not lived up to anything, has a body that's about 10 years older than it should be. PG - Iverson SG - JR Smith SF - Carmelo Anthony PF - Nene C - Camby When the suspensions are over, that is. That's a very good lineup.
