  1. Ramirez has really nasty stuff. I'm impressed. He is a better pitcher than Coco Crisp.
  2. All three are currently too cheap for the Yankees blood. Don't worry.
  3. Who was the last sox reliever who was allowed to pitch from the windup? Think Ramirez will keep doing it? Tavarez is the last one I can remember and it seems like it is probably an organizational/Farrell policy against it... anyone know?
  4. Here is where the 'pen should really prove itself. C'mon boys, this win is yours for the taking.
  5. They better not let Drew's contract be a reason to NOT resign Bay for next year. Clearly they don't mind having Drew on the bench for a good portion of the season even when he is healthy.
  6. I actually like Baldelli quite a bit. He's a good 5-tool potential player. I just hope he stays healthy. I don't understand how JD Drew can simultaneously be the highest paid player and the one who is coddled the most. Last year, he hit .284/.426/.500 against LHP. WTF? I can't wait until his contract is over.
  7. Maybe Bay behind Baldelli isn't such a bad thing...
  8. I can't believe that Ken Rosenthal gets paid for what he does.
  9. How does this seem any different from last year? :dunno:
  10. Team seems incohesive so far this year. There's a lot of promise here, but a lot left to be desired. After a long offseason where it seems so easy to know what kind of team we have, the harsh reality of a 162 game season have set in... going day to day, winning some losing some, its a long and nail-biting season. Personally, I think this team needs to be aggressive in the trade market and should pursue a marquee offensive player for the second half.
  11. I agree MANNYHOF24. His arm looks healthy. He just needs to be able to throw his secondary stuff for strikes. Ortiz can't get any love in this game.
  12. f***ing Figgins. Gotta let Penny battle through this. Keep it at 3-2
  13. This looks a lot like the Sox of the past few years. Decent play at times, consistently difficult bats but nobody who is carrying the team offensively. Pitching is professional, though not overwhelming (Wake and Dice). Road games are difficult. Let's be honest, this team started against the Rays and the Angels. Not an easy task: last year's AL Champion and AL best record. Not an excuse, but we'll see how similar series are played at the end of the year. I'm not happy with the outcome, and I don't expect it to get better before it gets worse but overall I expect this team to be competitive throughout the year.
  14. I think it will probably look like a bad deal in a few years. If they win a WS or two in the next few years then it may be seen as fine. That said, I think that the best way to get pitchers is to get them to before their best seasons, not immediately afterward. Especially when the team is desperate.
  15. I love that site and have used it a few times. I knew PitchFX was more accurate/detailed, but I didn't know gameday used it. Thanks ORS. I stand corrected. Looks like his FB was alright.
  16. I'm just curious, but why would Gameday be considerably more accurate than YES or ESPN?
  17. Not the two innings I watched. He wasn't around 93-94 at all. So maybe ESPN's radar gun was different from YES.
  18. I understand all this "CC starts slowly" stuff. I mean, the Sox haven't started playing yet, many aces got hit hard today, etc., I'm just curious though, is CC's velocity usually that poor?
  19. Even the ladies... at least, that's what I've heard. He likes his ladies covered in BBQ sauce and slow roasted. Or old. Old enough that their skin falls right off the bone.
  20. Has there been a season where fans are more excited to see their team beat the Yankees? I mean, they've had some pretty unlikable teams in the past, but adding 400m worth of FAs really makes it fun to root against them.
