  1. I've caught the whole game. And I live on the west coast. Game started at 9am. The lengths I will go to watch the sox...
  2. Clay has a very Dice-K way about him. He wants to throw his pitch all the time, and doesn't really ever give in. He can miss the zone by a lot, or be nearly unhittable.
  3. Combined with the offense actually doing what it is capable of, and an umpire who didn't establish a very comfortable zone, I would say Clay's start was very, very good.
  4. It depends. If Bard can throw strikes with both pitches then nobody. If he is nervous then Wagner, Saito or Oki (hell, even Papelbon) would be preferred. That said, with the shadows the way they are, he coudl be very hard to pick up if he can throw his slider effectively.
  5. Buchholz has all the tools anyone could ask for in a pitcher, except the thing that so many bad pitchers seem to have: common sense about pitching. There are so many minor league and college pitchers watching this game saying "pay attention to throwing strikes for Christsakes Clay". Instead he's stepping off, balking, etc., I don't love Bard coming in in this situation either.
  6. Blind don't get nuts. Blind squirrels die. That's why evolution didn't select blindness as a good quality for squirrels... http://static.tvfanatic.com/images/gallery/rainn-wilson-as-dwight-schrute.jpg
  7. Yeah. I heard that too. Make sure there's someone warm in the pen Tito.
  8. There are few hitters who, when they take a full swing, knock the ball out as easily as Drew can. There are times when it looks like he just takes his cut and the ball does what it is supposed to. Thanks JD.
  9. JD Drew never hits when it matters. f*** NO HE DOESN'T!!
  10. This ump is frustratingly inconsistent with the high strikes.
  11. Don't you have lives to save or something?
  12. f***ing hell BUchholz. Shake off VM multiple times and then try to power a FB past him up and in? Don't do that.
  13. its about motherf***ing time. atta boy pedroia!
  14. I look forward to it. if the discussion above borders on it then feel free to just hold off responding until then.
  15. I also think they wanted to talk individually with Teixeira and sell him on the benefits of being a Red Sox. My guess is they didn't know that he had a tiny hard-on for the Yankees and that he wasn't impressed by their meeting. That's got to be an ego shock, but if someone doesn't like blondes they don't like blondes. Same with the Red Sox. If Teix wants to be a Yankee no matter what, he's unlikely to be imrpessed by Fenway's history. The face to face presentation worked with Schilling, but didn't work with Tex. C'est la vie.
  16. You are vastly undervaluing Buchholz's value. He's got tremendous stuff. I understand other teams not treating him as if he is the finished product, but once he is nobody would trade him. His FB is roughly as good as Lester's, which is very, very good. He's got an elite changeup and an above average curveball and slider. He's got a frame that he's still building, a great and repeatable motion, and he's been handled very carefully by an organization that knows what it's doing. His value is super high because his potential is legitimate.
  17. I agree about the more reasonable statement, rather than "I'm f***ing pissed and the deal is off" or whatever Henry supposedly said. That said, if the Sox were to start bringing Boras, or the player, or the Yankees into the statements (even only as an aside) then they stand open to the "trash the player" reputation that so many on this board love. Basically, I see this FO as a group of intelligent and well-resourced baseball fans. They want the Sox to win, but they won't lose hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. They think they can both have a positive business venture and a winning club, and I don't disagree with them. I think Boras is a chump and is someone who has too much power in this game. However, the reality is that he does have that power and, like the Yankees, it is something we have to live with.
  18. Yep. SD will probably still get the same low number of fans (and wins) with a rebuilt team of exciting youngsters as they do with Adrian Gonzalez. I think there's reason to think the Sox could get him for a bunch of players most of us just don't care about very much. It is time to put this player development machine to work and deal away some of that young talent. They revamped their farm system with some really nice draft picks this year, but they won't be ready for a few years. That's okay though because there aren't really spots for most of them either. Trade them to teams who could use them, and get back the pieces this team clearly needs.
  19. Fixed it for you.
  20. I have seen the table and, although both funny and accurate, its power seem negligable against Jacksonian's powers of blindly charging from stupid argument to stupid argument, with his protective suits and reason-repellant uniform.
