  1. A 3-0 lead after one inning is good baseball, however. So they cancel each other out and make "regular baseball". Or just "baseball", if you prefer.
  2. Please don't try to start something with someone that isn't even here right now. Also, Fred is gone. Or are you referring to someone else? I'm not 100% on everyone's real names.
  3. Interesting stat I stumbled across when I was looking up Sox managers. Farrell is 1 game under .500 with the Sox (220-221), so if he wins tonight, he breaks even! This is excluding the 49 games last season when he was sick, obviously.
  4. It's been what, 15 years? Since a Sox manager was fired mid-season? Williams, I think. There was no one after that, right? Little, Francona, Valentine, and Farrell are the only guys who came afterwards? I really don't think the Sox would fire a manager mid-season. If they didn't fire him in 2014 or 2015, they won't do it now, they'll wait until the end of this season.
  5. I think Victor Martinez grounded into 4 a few years ago too. I recall at the time they mentioned two other guys had done it. Torre and another guy whose name I don't recall, but I think he was with the Yankees.
  6. I never thought I would say this, given that I prefer good baseball to bad baseball, but I kind of miss the days when the Yankees were the only other decent team in the division, and playing 57 games against Toronto, Baltimore, and Tampa Bay was good for 30-40 wins a season.
  7. Buchholz vs. Happ Just win. I won't be able to watch or listen to this game. I don't want to come home to a loss. Go Sox! Lineups to be posted by someone, I'm sure.
  8. Xander Boareararerareearrarraergerts!
  9. 18/18. Almost all of them had a standout identifying feature. PNC park had the river, Miller Park has a weird roof, Yankee Stadium sucks. Plus, on the few that were harder to identify, they had to reuse stadiums from previous questions for the multiple-choice answers. It was easy to guess a stadium when two of the three other answers had already been used.
  10. If the Sox lose tonight, it might be time for "posting entirely in limericks" mojo. I haven't done that one in a long time.
  11. Okay, so I suck at math. Even at 4%, the rest of my opinion still stands.
  12. I believe the blame for the slow start belongs to the slow start. Seriously, we are quite literally not even 2% into the season. It's still quite early to be throwing around blame. Price had one good start and one not-so-good one. Buchholz had one bad and one not-so-bad-could-have-been-worse. The Sox came up against a team that was already 5-0 going into the series. Maybe we'll have to revisit this conversation in late May or early June, but right now I am less concerned about this than I am about pretty much anything else.
  13. Pitch count limits for rookies can be a good call, but come on. The guy isn't going to disintegrate if you let him pitch over the limit this one time to try for the no-hitter. This wasn't the fifth inning, it was the 8th. I have to say I disagree with the choice to pull him from the game.
  14. In the early going, Ortiz does not look like a guy who is ready to retire. I'm glad he is though. It's much more respectable to have a final season of good-to-great numbers, rather than spend the last two seasons of your career batting .180 in 300 PAs with four different teams.
  15. Brock Holt is definitely the Brock Holtiest guy the Sox have ever Brock Holted.
  16. MLB.com says "delay". Why is there a delay in a domed stadium?!
  17. No, Bob Newhart looks old and slow. A-Rod looks like someone deflated a Dwayne Johnson blow-up doll and replaced all of the air with pudding and concrete.
  18. It's a lot more fun watching Napoli do that in someone else's uniform.
  19. I don't mind dull voices, really. Mine is awful. But this guy talked a lot of obscure stats and records, and I like that in my baseball radio.
  20. You guys are lucky listening to O'Brien. I miss hearing him with Castiglione on the radio. The guy with him today isn't bad though.
  21. Ha! As if there are any Yankees fans in heaven.
  22. The moment may have been lost, but the perfect game would still be in the record book. Besides, I think they would have celebrated just as hard.
