    I saw the headline on a website "Baseball great Carter dies of cancer" and for some reason thought Joe, not Gary, even though I know Gary was the one with the cancer. Anyways, really sad. There's a guy on the dead-pool I'm a member of who had Houston and Carter, he's up to four of his ten picks for the year and it's only February. He won't shut up about it. He won last year too, beat me 7 picks to 6, because some Australian author I'd never heard of kicked on Christmas Eve. Aaaanyways, this is indeed sad, as it always is when baseball loses a figure.

    Yeah, as evidenced by my username I obviously love the guy. He's a hideously deformed mutant with a hair-trigger temper and probably works as a supervillian during the offseason. But he's a great player. Hey, Ty Cobb was a racist and once beat up a one-handed guy, and I'm pretty sure Babe Ruth ate a child or two at one point. (Probably because much like rats get mixed in with hot dogs nowadays, in the 20s it was probably child laborers).

    I can't wait for baseball to start again. Right now it's the only thing keeping me from throwing myself in front of a train. Truck Day is the last major happening before Spring Training officially begins. Let's not disparage it.

    It works like this. You have four squares. Lets say one of them is 1 and 3, with the 1 on the Patriots side and 3 on the Giants side of the grid. If the score is 21-13 Patriots at the end of the first quarter, you win that quarter. The numbers are the last digit in the scores. So, the reason I was hoping for safeties is because most of my squares are the numbers 8, 6, or 5, which makes it extremely unlikely that they will come up during the game.
