  1. I'm at the mall as well. Haha, just kidding, I am banned from the mall. Also I have no money. Or a job. Or a car. Or a desire to go to the mall.
  2. Congrats to Gomez. Always a nice little perk when your first hit goes for extra bases.
  3. Happy TWF Day, Talksox. Also, happy Independence Day or whatever. Like that's anywhere near as important as TWF Day.
  4. You put Kalish on this list but not Ortiz? Gonzalez? Ortiz has been the Sox's best hitter all season. You think things look bleak pre-ASB, think about post-ASB without Ortiz. As for Gonzalez, you've made it clear on numerous occasions that you think he's just terrible, but what in his history as a player makes you think he's going to keep hitting without power for the rest of his contract in Boston? It's a rough stretch, there's no need to go all fire sale when realistically one good SP and maybe another infielder is all they need at the deadline. There are plenty of minor leaguers and plenty of teams desperate at every deadline (this year my guess is the Cardinals or the Phillies) to get a SP without burning down the entire team.
  5. Nick Punto once lost to Heather Mills in an ass-kicking contest.
  6. I know yesterday's gamethread included something along the lines of "Come on, these are the Mariners", but that sort of thing is equally applicable today. The Oakland Athletics are only slightly less inept at hitting than Nick Punto and Brent Lillibridge, but there is absolutely no f***ing reason not to beat these guys. Everyone needs to get their s*** together and keep winning, regardless of how much Nick Punto they are forced to put up with. No mojo again today, just another reminder to win the goddamn game and turn this into a streak. The 7th Anniversary of TWF Day is in two days and I damn well better be making the gamethread for that, or I will seriously be pissed off.
  7. This is like announcing that we must use a Saddam Hussien/Slobodan Milosevic combination at our Human Rights conference Yeah, I wonder where we could possibly find someone like that...? Still alive? Ditto? Again, how old is this guy Currently tearing it up for the league's premier offense, yeah. The Pirates may not actually be sellers this season Took him out of Coors and suddenly he hits like a guy at his level is supposed to. Which is to say, barely at all. I love the guy defensively, and for being from Connecticut, but come on. He's good for 2 home runs a year and 30 RBI at best, and he's much more reliable at SS than 3B. I know it was time for Youk to go to make room for Middlebrooks, and I know this is a minor injury and Will is still the future, but I also knew that getting garbage for Youk wasn't necessarily a given and was going to bite the Sox in the ass. I wasn't asking for Pujols and Verlander for Youk, but Lillibridge could not possibly have been the best player they could get for a guy like Youk.
  8. There are not enough "o's" in all the world to extend my comment on this: NOOOOOOOOO(etc.)
  9. Haha, yeah, I know what you meant originally and I agree. I hope in ten or fifteen years we can be treated to an exhibition game with the likes of Varitek, Wake, Mueller, Nomar, et cetera. Hell, Wake probably won't throw the ball much differently than he always has.
  10. Yeah, he's really the only one playing to that level on the team right now. Between Gonzalez slumping, Pedroia being on and off because of injuries, and Nomar not being on the Red Sox, there's not a lot of All-Star caliber playing going on. Though an argument could be made for Salty given the AL alternatives, I suppose.
  11. Enough of this crap. I hate this park, you hate this park, everyone hates this park. Pasta mojo didn't work last night (gemelli), kapsis gamethread mojo didn't work, horrific-photos-posted-by-troll mojo didn't work, so you know what? f*** mojo. Mojo doesn't always work. So tonight instead of mojo I'm gonna try something new. I'm gonna try no mojo-mojo. I realize that this is both contradictory and lame, but seriously, f*** this. These are the Seattle Mariners. Chone Figgins drove in the winning run last night and he's batting about as well as a700 would on the Major League level, and Ted has two hip replacements (I assume?). We have had three excellent pitching performances, which has been the thing that the team has needed all season, and all but one of them has been negated by the offense batting like Derek Jeter fields. So yes, this is my decision about mojo tonight. f*** mojo, just win the goddamn game, because really, the Mariners.
  12. In pitcher years he's like ninety.
  13. Oliver Perez again. This guy is being held together with stitches and happy thoughts. He's like 100 years old, just score some runs.
  14. Miller's MLB stock photo looks like Wesley Crusher with a beard.
  15. Traffic jam on the basepaths. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PJXJp8Np_Cc/T6MsvKRo7sI/AAAAAAAAAFA/mNVyncaWH8s/s640/kawasaki-ninja.jpg http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2004models/2004-Suzuki-GSXR600c.jpg
  16. Stop wearing a turtleneck in June you *******.
  17. They'll still need a bench OF and I'd rather it be Sweeney. I couldn't Kalish if Ryan never played again.
  18. I can't wait until Ryan Sweeney is healthy again.
  19. For a guy named League, he sure can't hack it in 'em.
  20. Tell me what animal you like. One is about to die because you are incapable of using proper grammar. :harhar:
  21. Don't feel bad, I like it too.
