  1. You are all the most unbelievably annoying group of posters that have ever been on this site at the same time. I am supposed to reign in my natural desire to berate people, being a mod and all, but f*** this. I seriously, 100% am beginning to hate all of you. Hooray, you're right, the Sox are losing! You have no right, no right to tell jacko to leave and stop gloating, because that's all you do. I have not heard you (pumpsie), say a single positive thing about anything in weeks. You are single-handedly making me want to quit this site. SHUT. UP. Stop posting if everything you post is going to be about how this player sucks or how the Sox are sure to lose even when they're winning. I have absolutely zero reason to live outside of watching the Red Sox every day and trying to ignore the fact that my life sucks. I am a week away from living in a f***ing homeless shelter and the one place I can come to ignore the real world is becoming as bad as my life, and it's all thanks to you. Either quit proclaiming how right you are about everything being terrible every time the opposing team scores a run or get the f*** out of here. I'm sick of you and everyone like you and I swear to you if you keep turning this place into your own little doomsday cult website the last thing I will do before I finally kill myself is ban you and delete every post you have ever made.
  2. Nick Punto with an XBH. THE SEVENTH SIGN!
  3. He's been in the Major Leagues for about two hours. Give him a break. Granted, he shouldn't be playing at all, but there is no reason to expect anything except what he's already shown.
  4. Any kind of fetish is immoral and unnatural.
  5. Francona was at best, mediocre. The 2004 team won on momentum from beating the Yankees and because they were a billion times better than the Cardinals. The 2007 team was just really, really, really good. A scarecrow in a Sox jacket could have managed that team to 90 wins. I understand that that is a strawman argument, but the point is that anyone could have managed the Sox to those championships even easier than he did. And I can't ignore 2008-2011, when it seemed like every single decision he made was absolutely terrible.
  6. September 11th, 2001. Oh, wait, wrong disaster.
  7. It's not the last names that I'm talking about. I forgot about another kind, the normal names spelled differently. What were these parents thinking? Your kid can make something of their lives regardless of their name. Giving them something weird to 'be different' and 'stand out' doesn't really do much. I'm looking at you, Mr. and Mrs. Nix.
  8. Seriously what's with these names. I have seen some bizzare names in baseball the last few years, and especially this season Yoenis, Andrelton, et cetera. I mean, I understand these people aren't necessarily going to have American or English names, but whatever happened to foreign approximations? Where are the Joses and Francois (Francois's?) and Pavels and Pablos and such? I know Japanese names are going to be Japanese but can't we have a few more pronouncable people coming out of Cuba and Venezuela? Names should not be worth more than 6 or 7 points in Scrabble tiles.
  9. I'm pretty sure SFF meant that during the two losses to Oakland the Sox didn't lose a game in the standings to the Yankees, since they also lost those two days to the Rays. He didn't mean we hadn't lost to the Yankees, just that the two losses to Oakland just kept things stagnant instead of dropping the Sox further from first.
  10. This is the thing I don't understand about everyone complaining. Dice-K was a mistake. Way too much money invested in a guy who had never pitched in MLB. But Lackey? Lackey had a great track record? He was one of the best free agent pitchers available that year. No one could have predicted that he'd suck like he did. How is that the FO's fault? If they signed Pujols this season and he sucked, would you blame it on them? How could anyone have reasonably expected bad years from Lackey, Beckett, or Lester based on past performance? And how exactly is signing Beckett and Lester a bad thing? What better pitchers were out there when they signed them? Beckett and Lester have been two of the top pitchers in the league for a few years.
  11. That doesn't mean the Sox made bad trades and there's no reason to suggest that, sardonically or not. Nick Punto could get a timely hit against the Twins (not likely, I know) or Aviles against the Royals, it doesn't mean they were bad trades or releases for those teams. (Especially since Punto sucks). Statistically even the worst player in the majors, given the ABs, is going to get a few hits. Remember, the worst teams still win 60 games and the best still lose 60 games. That's baseball.
  12. That's fine, but to phrase your statement in a way that implies that Coco getting a triple in one game against the Sox in July is indicative of a bad trading policy is ridiculous.
  13. You guys are unbelievable. You act like you wouldn't spend every gamethread complaining about how Iglesias is awful at hitting and he should be traded/never have been brought up. You need defense and offense from every player except the DH. If he can't hit, he shouldn't be in the majors. That matters not just to the FO but to anyone who knows the slightest bit about baseball.
  14. Aaron Cook really has been quite a find. I watched almost every Rockies game since 2004 and even I would not have predicted this result for him, pitching in the AL.
  15. I try not to be negative. I firmly believe Gonzalez and Crawford will be important parts of the team in the future. I believe Pedroia will recover. I believe Lester can shape up and start pitching like we all know he can. I truly think the Sox still have a shot at the playoffs and that they are not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. I really, really like to stay as positive as possible, within reason, about this team and almost all the players. But holy f***ing s***, Nick Punto is absolutely worthless.
  16. Awesome! Congratulations to Ortiz. Fitting that his 400th HR was an important one. From a guy who is so beloved in large part for his timely big hits, it would have seemed wrong for his milestone to come when the Sox were up or down by 7 runs. If I still drank I'd have a beer for him, but as it is I raise my Dr Pepper in salute to a Red Sox hero.
  17. Moss, Crisp, Reddick...it's old home week.
