  1. Finally! Today has absolutely dragged on, every minute felt like an hour. The Sox-Yanks DS is the only one without any afternoon games. Figures.
  2. Yes, there are few enough games in the postseason (19 if all three series go the full length) and enough users that no one should have to repeat, assuming the Red Sox lose enough games for that to matter.
  3. Everyone stop before I have to delete the GT and ask Thunder to remake it.
  4. I don't get it, all he did was preside over one of the worst seasons in baseball history while simultaneously looking and acting like the angry grandfather no one wants to see at Christmas.
  5. I'd like to see a rematch of 2007, I think the 2018 Rockies are much tougher than the 2007 Rockies were, and it would be a much more entertaining series. I obviously want to see the Sox win, but I'm not as happy with sweeps as I am with 6 or 7 game series. It's just better baseball. 1991 is still the World Series that all others should be judged against.
  6. They haven't lost "when it counts". In fact, they won 107 games "when it counted". They've clinched the best record in baseball, the AL East championship, and the #1 seed in the postseason. This series with the Yankees is far and away the best definition all year of games that don't count. I have been on this site since 2005. I've seen two WS championships, a shitload of postseason appearances, and a few very, very bad seasons. This season has been better than either regular season leading up to the WS championships, and yet the attitude of way too many people on these gamethreads has been more pessimistic and bitchy than GTs during the 2012 or 2014 seasons. I literally cannot understand the attitude this season. The postseason hasn't even started yet and everyone is acting like the Sox just squeaked through on a wildcard technicality. They're not playing for anything anymore, these last two games are garbage. I don't like losing to the Yankees any more than anyone else does, but calm the hell down.
  7. Yeah, I understand throwing at the guy, I’ve never liked it, but hey, that’s baseball. The vulgarity of his chosen response, though, seems incongruous with the image the organization likes to present to the league and the country. The Yankees don’t even let their players have beards or long hair, they’ve always tried to project themselves as the “gentlemen” of baseball, loftily staring down their noses at the immature, rowdy kids on the other teams. No matter how many times their stars slap balls out of a glove to avoid a tag or throw jagged bats at runners. We as fans are free to be hypocritical, the Yankees shouldn’t be.
  8. Are you seriously comparing Sabathia grabbing his crotch and calling the opposing pitcher a bitch for doing what 100000 pitchers before him have done in the same situation to Ortiz defiantly cursing during a speech denouncing terrorists?
  9. Yeah, it’s going to be great for you guys when Brian Johnson starts Game 1 of the ALDS, and the Yankees are going to be slugging like crazy when Cora replaces Kimbrel with Cuevas as a closer. The Yankees are going to feast on these guys because Cuevas is definitely going to be a key component of the postseason roster. In fact, if it came down to leaving him off or leaving Betts off, I’d tell Mookie to take a hike.
  10. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24814782/yankees-cc-sabathia-ejected-two-innings-shy-500000-bonus Ha! Seriously, the Rays have been hit twice in this series, one of those resulting in a broken foot, and the Rays retaliate by throwing behind a guy and CC is mad? At who? Then you throw at a guy after warnings, get ejected, and walk off the field grabbing your crotch and calling someone a bitch? What a moron, seriously. If you're gonna throw at someone at least have some dignity about it.
  11. Everyone is always looking for ways to speed up the game; I just thought of one. When it's Sandy Leon's turn to bat, the pitcher should just toss the ball straight up in the air for one of the infielders to catch and call Leon out, that's a minute or two saved right there.
  12. Sandy Leon, human fire extinguisher.
  13. It must really suck to be an Orioles fan this season.
  14. This is going to significantly damage the Yankees ability to hit a bunch of meaningless solo home runs when they get blown out by seven runs in Oakland.
  15. Posting from my phone so apologies if this has been said already, but Wright is really the hero of this game.
  16. Well that sucked. Get 'em tomorrow.
  17. Third time's the charm, I guess.
  18. Three hits, by Vazquez, Holt, and Devers. DeGrom probably came into this game geared up to throw to Mookie and JD.
  19. If you asked me for a list of guys who would hit a home run off of DeGrom in order from most to least likely, Holt would have been slightly above Vazquez and slightly below the pretzel guy.
  20. I just looked at this guys previous posts. I don't know how the hell I missed him a few months ago, I can't believe no one reported him! Anyways, he's gone. If you're a Yankees fan you need to be around for a while before you're allowed to be insufferable, and most of these posts were waaaay beyond insufferable. Also his IP is the same as another poster, who has also been banned now, even though they haven't posted in a couple years. I'm guessing this is someone who tried really hard to be vulgar and push people's buttons as a "Sox fan" and when it didn't have the effect he desired, created a "Yankee fan" persona and tried all over again. Oh well, I wish him luck. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll join the Rays forum. Just kidding, the Rays don't have enough fans for a message board.
  21. And they should be an automatic pinch hit if they come up with two or three runners on base. If I were the NL team I’d walk Leon or Vazquez to get to the pitcher. Porcello got a bases clearing double off of one of the best pitchers in the game, I don’t see our catchers ever doing that.
  22. I can see his point, I’m glad they awarded the run but it does make sense to call an overturned HR as a ground rule double instead of a straight double, which would have moved Kinsler to third rather than home.
  23. Holt is frustrating in the lineup but he’s basically 2004 David Ortiz when he pinch hits, or at least that’s what it feels like
  24. Like I told mvp when we met today, it helps that I went to so many Orioles and Rays games back in the days when they were awful. I think I went to three or four Rays-Sox games during the 03 and 04 seasons and the Sox won all of them by an average of probably six runs, haha.
