  1. I was expecting KC because of his ties with Moore, but this is a good situation for him, and a good signing (minus the dollars) for the Dodgers.
  2. Good luck Andy Phillips. Longtime product of the Yankees organization, it will certainly be wierd seeing him in another uniform. Hope he gets the shot he deserves though.
  3. Always love the Rule 5 draft, lots of fun to follow. Yanks lose Mike Gardner to San Diego n the AAA phase, but it's no biggie. Interesting that the Twins just signed R.A. Dickey about a week ago, and they lost him today. I'm sure he wont mind though.
  4. Also, Fukudome is Kosuke, Hiroki is Kuroda
  5. Fukudome, IMO is being a little overvalued this offseason. Dont get me wrong, he's a good dependable player, above average by NPB standards, but I dont see his game translating well to the bigs. Thats not to say he wont succeed and do well, but I think giving him the type of money that he is likely to get is a big mistake by any team, with the exception of the Yomiuri Giants, who are the only NPB team in the running. And I only say that because he's played well over there. He's not Ichiro or Matsui, and defensively he may not even be comparable to Tsuyoshi Shinjo back when he was over here. If the Cubs (who appearantly are the ML favorites, and seem to have been for quite a few weeks now), or any other team for that matter want to pay him that money then go for it, but I think it would be a mistake.
  6. Thanks. I appreciate your assistance and help all of the time. Even back 2 years ago when I did it I often remember seeing you posting updates reminding me to gt my ass in gear. I love doing it not only so i can refer back to it, but just as long as I can remember i've felt the need to stay up to date on where players are playing just for my own knowledge while following the game. I feel like it's a necessity
  7. Yeah. Trade works out well for both sides. In fact, I think in the long run this trade may favor the Marlins.
  8. Their reluctance to give up Maybin or Miller would get in the way of a Haren deal being done, and I doubt that the Marlins are doing anything more than trying to raise the price on Cabrera for other teams. But no question the Tigers are trying to make some serious improvements.
  9. The Tigers just acquired Denny Bautista, cousin of Pedro Martinez for Jose Capellan.
  10. I couldnt blame anybody for thinking that, or thinking im crazy for saying that. But when Igawa comes into his own and adapts to the American game he could be a reliable starter. Not that I would expect much from Chase Wright, but he's capable of of giving us a servicable outing if needed. Rasner is a guy who has all the potential in the world, but has been derailed due to injuries and lack of opportunity both in the Yankees and Expos/Nationals system. Healthy and at the top of his game he's a guy who has the ability to be a solid number 4 or 5. So while I respect and understand the opinions f everyone regarding the Yankee pitching depth, there's more than meets the eye. There's also several other guys I could touch on but I think you guys get my point. I'm satisfied with what we've got, even if we dont get a Santana, Haren (at Billy Beane's price I wouldnt want him anyway), Bedard, etc. Chein-Ming Wang won 19 games, and has more ML wins since June 2006 than anyone, Andy Pettitte is Andy Pettitte, Joba Chamberlain was the nastiest setup man in the game last year after he came up in August (Not that that translates to him being a dominate starter, but we'll have to wait and see), Phil Hughes is dynamite waiting to be ignited, etc. Not to mention Mike Mussina's back-end savvy.
  11. In addittion to those guys, for insurance we still have guys like Rasner coming back from injury, Chase Wright who didnt do too poorly in his stint last year, Igawa; who despite his performance last year and the doubts Yankee/basebll fans have about him CAN/WILL be a solid pitcher in the Major leagues. He's too good not to be. ....can't wait for the responses on that one Basically what I'm saying is that while we may not have Johan Santana or Josh Beckett or Jake Peavy or Ben Sheets, we do still have a formidable rotation with hot young studs, and decent insurance policies. Humberto Sanchez will be healthy, and although the Yankees plan on converting him to the bullpen he has experience starting so he could be another insurance option too. All I'm saying is that when you have a guy like Mike Mussina, with his savvy at the back end or as your spot starter, can't be too bad.
  12. Only took like an hour and a half, but I got it updated.
  13. As great as it would be having Santana in pinstripes, i've struggled with the fact that to get him we'd be giving up some of our solid young guys, who I think many Yankee fans have grown to love. So although as it looks now we wont be getting Santana, we still have Hughes and Melky, which isn't exactly a bad thing.
  14. I dont know much about Albaladejo, so I have to reserve udgement for now. But dont ya think Tyler could have been part of a package with a greater return?
  15. The 2 year deal agreed upon with Jose Molina has been finalized tonight. To make room for him on the 40 man ANDY PHILLIPS HAS BEEN DESIGNATED FOR ASSIGNMENT. I really hope we can still manage to retain him going into Spring Training.
  16. well gee, im kinda tired but i'll go on a goose-hunt right now and try to find some..just for you Kilo. I mean, its not like i'm making that claim to excuse or condone what Hanks ben doing, I was saying that to address it, and how its been done alot all offseason and nobody has taken issue with it, which is wrong. I'll try to find some quotes...
  17. No doubt Hank has done plenty of tampering this winter, but so have a lot of other execs. Not excusing Hank's actions, just in the past few weeks it's actually occurred to me how many times i've heard execs mention other team's players by name. Off the top of my head I cant think of any as blatant as Hank's, but it has been happening in excess this offseason. I was quite confused to say the least, I thought that without any complaints (until now) so far that perhaps the tampering rules may have been altered somewhat, but that wouldnt make sense. Nice to see someone finally get called on it...
  18. idk, Molina has already agreed to a 2 year deal yet to be finalized and official, so i guess they didnt see the need. They're still probably gonna try to bring back Villone on a minor league deal, I guess they just didnt want to face the possibility of him accepting.
  19. Not suprrised to see the Rays part ways with him, and in a good deal that makes sense on both sides. Like everyone else, i'm intrigued to see where/how Delmon is used in their OF, and how it affects Santana bids. I guess only time will tell.
  20. • Brady Anderson • Harold Baines • Rod Beck • Bert Blyleven • Dave Concepcion • Andre Dawson • Shawon Dunston • Chuck Finley • Travis Fryman • Rich Gossage • Tommy John • David Justice • Chuck Knoblauch • Don Mattingly • Mark McGwire • Jack Morris • Dale Murphy • Robb Nen • Dave Parker • Tim Raines • Jim Rice • Jose Rijo • Lee Smith • Todd Stottlemyre • Alan Trammell I know some of those guys would never be considered by many, but I figured that since BBWAA members vote for up to 10 players, i'd pick these 6 that I think should be in, except Mattingly. Not that I don't think he should be in, but I know he never will be, and outside of New York isn't as appreciated as he should be. Still, the Yankee fan in me couldn't help but give him one of the votes. I considered Tim Raines, but passed. Maybe another year..
  21. Thats certainly sad. He played with us (HV Renegades) in the Rays system and i'm sure our Assistant GM has already begun planning for a tribute of sorts. Either way this is terrible...it always devestates me to hear of a player dying...wish the best to his family.
