  1. Tell me about it, sounds outrageous. As ludicrous as it sounds, at this point it may be the best thing. Kennedy needs to be in AAA, and I've said that all offseason, he's just not ready. He needs to get his work in down there. Although he was good last season when he made the jump, he needs more than 32.2 AAA innings to get acclimated to better hitters than those he was facing from college to AA throughout his career. Given how good Igawa has been so far in Scranton this year, allowing only 4 walks and 1 homer in 21.2 innings with a 2.49 ERA, and given the fact that he has it in him to be a big-time pitcher, being that he was a premier pitcher with Hanshin, even winning an MVP; he deserves a chance to give it another shot. I know he was horrific last year, but that was, IMO like I said all season, just a chance to get his feet wet and get acclimated to the big-league style of baseball. Perhaps second time round will be better. Thats not to say he's going to be the savior and pitch lights out, because who knows, but maybe he can perform sufficiently. I don't see it happening now, but maybe after another 2 or 3 unsuccessful starts from Kennedy, Ca$h and Joe will consider making a move. Possibly even sooner if Igawa continues to impress in his next start or 2.
  2. I was never insinuating that it was a BS injury, I just stated it was pink eye because that's what I had heard and read until now. I heard both corneal ulcers and pink eye, but not being med savvy I don't know the difference. I'm with you, and I liked the acquisition of Betemit as I've liked his bat since he came up with Atlanta, and I loved his infield versatility, but Proctor had to go. I would LOVE to get Marte back in return for Betemit. But if that's not feasible for Pittsburgh, I wouldn't mind some decent prospects. You never know who might be a diamond in the rough.
  3. Posada will be starting at first tonight against Baltimore (there is no game thread to post this in, and rather than start one after the series has begun I'm just gonna put it here. If someone else wants to start a game thread for this weekend's set, be my guest) while Molina starts behind the plate. Joba will also be rejoining the team tonight, so I assume Edwar is going back to Scranton, and Kyle Farnsworth has been suspended 3 games for throwing behind Manny the other night, but will appeal. I also heard that before he came down with pink eye, the Yankees were talking trade with the Pirates regarding Wilson Betemit, who they wanted to take over for Jose Bautista as the everyday third baseman. Any speculation as to what the Yankees may have gotten/may get for him?
  4. Can't disagree one bit. But hopefully people start to get their s*** together. Hopefully Hughes can start being effective, Moose can maybe do something useful (I dont care if he helps Robby Cucuzza wash jerseys, as long as he does SOMETHING useful), and everyone can be consistent. Like you said, we really can't afford this.
  5. You can't look at what he's done this year and ignore how well he did last year, especially in his 2 starts before his injury. And he was pretty good when he came back. I understand what you're saying, but it's too early to say one way or the other regarding Phil. But again, it's not fair to get down on him for his struggles thus far and completely disregard how well he pitched last year when he came up. We need more time before we can get on him like that.
  6. I dont see how you can say that Gom. No good, young pitcher is going to be lights out early on. All of them, ALL OF THEM struggled at some point in the early stages of their career. Once they (or at least Hughes) get through it I'm confident Hughes will have a brilliant career. He has too much talent not too.
  7. Thank you Donnie Walsch!!! Finally. Good thing they did it when they did, I've been giving some serious though to plotting an assassination on Isiah. Best he get his sorry ass out of town quick.
  8. Updated my trading block
  9. I hope he comes back in September, throws a few good innings, and nets himself a guaranteed contract somewhere for a few million. That would be nice for him
  10. That s*** is TOO FUNNY
  11. But 66 runs in an inning and a third!? WOW!!
  12. It's different over there. They have no mercy for a pitcher's arm. I don't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head, but Matsuzaka threw over 200 in one start (complete game) at Koshien, threw a complete game the next day, and pitched in relief the following day. They think it's good for a pitcher's arm to get used to being worked like that. Very unconventional.
  13. I almost wish Paps would have set us down in the 9th, or at least that Melky didn't homer, and you guys know how much I love Melky. ..only because Paps is on my fantasy team lol
  14. Wasn't intentional, pitch just got away from him. BAD.
  15. That's s*****... for you guys I mean. That's just dandy to me. 4 more to go ..that one was pretty bad, I know lol
  16. I feel like I'm in a bad dream or something lol
  17. Minor League numbers don't predict how a player will do in the bigs. How many stud prospects flopped on the Major League lever? I've followed Suzuki since last year, and with this being his first full year of getting most of the playing time I would rather hang onto Martin. You must think I'm stupid, if it were no big deal you wouldnt be trying to pull Martin from me for Suzuki. You know damn well the difference in production that there'll be between the two. And the handful of extra steals Martin might pick up really isn't that big of a deal. Papelbon for Saunders is just ludicrous, I dont care what you tell me, but there is no way I trade Papelbon for a guy who's finished the past two seasons with an ERA over 4.40, no way in hell! He's too valuable. He has gotten off to a nice start, but it would just make absolutely no sense for me to make that move. You wanna explore McLouth for Reynolds, that works for me. McLouth was my sleeper coming into the season, and with his real nice start I would be reluctant to move him, but if you're willing to do Reynolds for McLouth straight up, I'm game for throwing it around.
  18. we will find out soon. I can't expect him to pitch the way he did Friday, going all 9 and everything, but I would be satisfied with at least 7 IP, less than 3 ER.
  19. Jesus Christ, why don't you guys just hang me. He MAYYYYYYYYYYY have gotten his ring. Happy?
  20. woooooooooops lol, looking st the wrong day's matchup. So is Clay gonna keep 'em at bay tonight?
  21. I never disputed that it was a better personal option for him. But going to the Yankees wouldn't have necessarily been a bad decision. He wouldn't have been high-horse Curt, bloody sock and all, but he would have gotten a ring. That's all I'm saying. What injury? It was ketchup!! He needed an excuse for blowing in his previous start after signing that big contract. He sucks in Game 6 with a bloody sock, people understand. He pitches well, or even great, he's a hero. Win-win for Curt and the bottle of Heinz. Just for the record before I get a mob of Boston fans jumping down my throat, I'm only kidding.
  22. You must be the stupid one if that offer you made was actually a serious one. Either that or you're on some series drugs, in which case you really are an idiot. Joe Saunders, Mark Reynolds, and KURT SUZUKI!? You have got to be kidding me if you consider Russell Martin, McClouth (who has been realllll good) and Papelbon an even trade. Let me make a note to make sure I do no trading with you the rest of the season.
