  1. Im pretty sure Pavanos gonna go number 5..at least thats what I would do..based on last year. WHY IS EVERYONE CALLING WANG THIS HUGE QUESTION MARK? I THOUGHT HE WAS PRETTY DAMN IMPRESSIVE LAST YEAR!!
  2. Right, because Schilling was a sure thing last year, Beckett coming to the AL is a guaranteed thimbs up (hey, if I recall, you guys always insult the Yanks for bringing in NL pitchers...can you say HYPOCRITE!), Wells is obviously generations younger than Johnson, and a baby compared to Mussina (actually...Moosey there is a wee bit younger than Boomer), and of coarse Wakefield is a dynamite. Lets be serious here, Johnson vs Schilling: Based on careers and last year Johnson is a DEFINATE better choice. However, based on ability and track record lately, it isnt too far away. I still take Johnson, especially with how he finished last year off. Chacon vs Beckett: I give the edge to Beckett, definately. based on his age and velocity...as well as his potential its a no brainer. Pavano vs Clement: Clement gets a slight edge, only because of his first half and he was on the field more. But he was injured and inconsistant too. Its an edge, but a very slight one. I have a good feeling about Pavano this year. Moose vs Wakefield: No edge here. Wakefield is older, and is more likely to break down. And we cant forget the knuckleball, but Moose is younger (not much, bet hes got a few good years), an EXCELLENT fielder..perhaps the best fielding pitcher in the game today, has an amazing knuckle-curve. you can make cases for both. Wang vs Papelbon: Though most of you will disagree, and I understand why, I am not going to give anyone an edge here. Yes, Papelbon has amazing stuff and projects to be a Clemens-type, but we still dont know if hes for real as a starter yet. You guys assume when talking about your prospects, that they are sure things. Thats not the case here. Wang pitched very good last year, granted he went down with injury, but i'll take his sinker and his youth any day of the week. Papelbon has better stuff and is younger (i think), bt he needs to start a game or 2 before I give him an edge. However, I think we all know deep down he is better than Wang. Those comparrisons are not based on rotation slot, rather they are basedo n who I feel they match up with best on the other teams staff. So if you ask me guys, this isnt as much a one-sided arguement as you guys make it out to be..sorry.
  3. I dont think Wang is as big a question mark as people make him out to be. He was very good last year in his rookie year. I would say he is as much a question mark as Beckett. Chacon is a question mark as well, but assuming he pitches like he did last year im very comfortable with him. I would say he is more of a question mark than Arroyo or Papelbon. Perhaps Papelbon is more of a question mark considering he hasnt started a big league game yet (I could be wrong, but if he has, not many).
  4. Right, like all pitching staffs we have questions. But I think it is obsurd for Sox fans to go on as if theyre staff is significantly better than the Yankees staff. The Sox staff was horrible last year. Injuries, inconsistant performances, etc. (Gee, sounds like the Yankees too ) But yea, i'll tale Moose through a good 6 innings(on a bad day) Small/Sturtze/Wright for the 7th Dotel/Farnsworth for the 8th And God...I mean Mo, for the 9th. yes, we had a lot of injuries last year. But so did the Sox. I dont see how Sox fans can seriously put the Yankees pitching staff down like this.
  5. I wouldnt be too confidant with the Sox' pitching staff if I was you. Randy Mussina Wang Chacon Pavano ..when healthy, that is a very good pitching staff. I dont see how people can say that the Yankees have a bad pitching staff...I just dont get it.
  6. looks good. Although I HIGHLY doubt Gonzalez gets 20. Lowell could get 30, but I wouldnt bank on it....but it is a definate possibility. Same with Youk. But yes, very potent.
  7. Well said.
  8. haha lmao
  9. made a few more updates
  10. The pressure to shake things up significantly, like Joe did (with Cashman) in making that whole move last year was just that, to shake things up for a little bit. Joe had no intensions of keeping it that way, in about 2 weeks Womack was out and bernie was in. I am more than sure that Joe talked with Bernie about this long and hard, and i'm sure it was hard for him to do. Also, you cant say that in the year 2004 Kenny Lofton was not as good a Center Fielder as Bernie Williams. His speed alone makes him better. The reason Joe didnt play Lofton was because he wanted Bernie in Center, and Ruben DHing. The loyalty Joe Torre displays is completely unexplainable, you have no idea man.
  11. lmao...dont hate on Kay ...Michael Kay is my HERO!
  12. About time this finally got done lol
  13. Jeter would do that. The most recent thing that I can think of is Coney going to the Sox...which hurt. Even Boomer going to the Sox hurt. But before that the biggest name that almost went to the Sox was Bernie in '99, but George didnt let that happen by swooping in at the last minute and beating the Boston offer out. (Was that kind of shot at me yeszir? if I can remember back that far?) Boomer Coney your statement is absolutely, 100% true if you are a fan of say, the Houston astros or something. But this is the freakin Boston Red Sox. Not exactly short on money. All the revenue Johnny provided I think they could have given him some more.
  14. haha you have no idea what you're talking about then if you think thats the case. Joe's loyalty to Bernie Williams (and any of "his guys" for that matter) is unparralled. When we had Kenny Lofton, Bernie was supposed to DH, Lofton was supposed to play CF. Was that the case? No! Joe sat Lofton most of the time in favor of Bernie and Ruben. This year, that thing with Bernie being benched, Womack moving to left, Matsui to Center, and Cano was done because of the losing just to shake things up. It was mainly pressure by Cashman and others in the organization that led to that..but Bernie wasnt out of the lineup for more than 2 weeks. Trust me, through thick and thin, regardless of how things are going, Joe is going to stick by Bernie.
  15. Neither or those two will be playing for Cuba. None of the players that defected are eligible to play for Cuba. Since Cuba and Castro are running the Cuban team, they're obviously not going to let defectors play. The Cuban team will be made up of the players on the Cuban National team. Other things include Majestic and MLB NOT providing Cuba with their uniforms, as the Cuban national team has a deal with Adidas for their uniforms.
  16. I havent seen word of this on any sports/transactions pages. Can anyoneprovide me with a link to confirm this for the Transaction list I have going.
  17. lol, thanks for the compliments
  18. It would have to be Bard as Flaherty cant be traded until June 15th. But I can see the Sox outrighting Flaherty, though I doubt he would make it through waivers, and if he did I doubt he would opt to go down, would probably retire after that.
  19. Made updates guys....though im sure im missing a few things
  20. Actually, I think thats where Clay got his excerpts from. But there is more in there.
  21. http://taiwanbaseball.blogspot.com/2005/10/catch-rising-starchih-hsien-chiang.html theres one, appearantly he isnt a natural SS but rather learned it while in high school. I'll look for more
  22. I wish there was a site on Yankee prospects like there is on Sox prospects but yea, i'll go browsing now
  23. As most of you probably know the Carribbean Series, held in Venezuela this year, is beginning on Thursday. To me this stuff is a big deal, much like the Nippon Series. The big thing about this years series is that YES will be carrying the ENTIRE series. So for those of you here in New York or with DirecTV we will be able to watch it, which is nice considering that I havent been able to watch any Winter League baseball this winter, and when I watched it last winter it was all in Spanish (Fox Sports Espanol, which I dont get this year, long story). I dont know if YES is carrying the Feed from Fox Sports or ESPN (I know they do English feeds for Latin American residents) or if they will be doing their own production, most likely the first, but I would love it if they did the latter. It would be pretty cool for Michael Kay and Bob Lorenz or someone to be doing thses games Anyways, I will post more on this later on, such as which teams will be representing their countries, who the marquee players on those teams are, what players are added to those team's rosters, etc.
  24. Absolutely, of coarse. Same would be true if the Yankees, or the Mets, or the Pirates, or the Diamondbacks signed a taiwanese prospect or something. But anyways, I just looked up some stuff on him, and he seems to be someone who is projected to do VERY well in the american game. (Forgot to copy the links, closed out the windows before it occured to me)
