  1. That Dominican/Venezuela game today was AMAZING...and I definetly predicted Papi going yard in the 9th. As for the US game, the pitching-AMAZING. I fell asleep during the game (long day) so I didnt really get to see it all, but from what I saw and what I read in the box score..just pure filth. Cant wait for more. I was cringing today when I saw Tejada limping. This would DEFINATELY be better suited for November.
  2. yeah, I understood that and was cool with all of that. It was the second post that made me think you were going at me. The whole "not harsh, honest, I cant fathom why anyone would post about this", or whatever was said. Like I said, this is no biggie, appearantly you're interest in the matter is different than mine. Not a big thing. I didnt mean to start a debate with the posting of this thread. I was simply surprised that he had suddenly changed his number and was hoping that, like usual, sombody here could give me an explanation.
  3. A lot of people, including me, feel differently than you about uniform numbers than you do ORS. I read a good article regarding that the other day, if I come across it, i'll post it. But I see where you're coming from. A lot of people could care less. I, on the other hand care about this stuff for some reason.
  4. Thank you.
  5. Or maybe (although unlikely) those teams that get destoryed are so embarrassed and they motivate themselves to come back in 2009 and be competitve. I doubt it though. This isnt much of a big deal to the people in those countries. Some Italians are into it a little, but no more than I would be into the Masters or something.
  6. I dont think it was as much about showing Griffey disrespect as it was showing Me disrespect. ORS has made no secret of his dislike for me since I joined. No biggie though. I agree with him that this isnt a big deal, however I feel it's something worth talking about a little. God knows theres enough pointless threads on here.
  7. I hope South Africa wins this whole tournament. seriously. That would be amazing. Them or Italia.
  8. He's the manager. Buck's a pretty smart guy, im sure he has a reason. Perhaps, Varitek is a little soar or something, or maybe scouting reports said that Winn might be better off out there. Who knows. But yea, obviously the better lineup would be with Varitek and Wells in there, but this is still a very good lineup.
  9. There are plenty of guys that I hate. But im not heartless and I wouldnt bash them right after they died. Curt Schilling dies, Im not out there talking s*** about him. You just dont do it.
  10. I dont know much about Kirby as a person, but apon watching the interviews with former teammates and friends, many peoiple were talking about how loved he was in the Minnesota community, just because of how much he did. According to all of them, he was always signing autographs for kids and doing things in the community. But like I said, I dont know much about him. but yea, how could you say things about a guy not even hours after he died.
  11. No surprise. A few days ago he mentioned that he would likely hang 'em up if he didnt win a spot on the roster. Looks like he's just gonna do it sooner.
  12. You're being an ******* about it for absolutey no reason. I dont understand it. Like I said, if you think its a topic not worthy of discussion, then dont read the thread. If Big Papi or Jason Varitek suddenly decided to change their uniform number, im sure there would be a thread about it. Would you say the same things in that thread?
  13. Sad day in baseball. RIP Kirby
  14. Why would they cut him because he has a hefty contract? That doesnt make very much sense. This isnt football, where you can release a player and not pay him. Since he doesnt have any options or anything, the Sox would have to release him, meaning that they have to eat his contract. I realize that he's a pretty bad pitcher and certain circumstances factored into his numbers last year (weak division, pitchers park, etc.), but you cant just eat his contract. Now, I dont know off the top of my head what he's making, but why would the Sox just eat it all and throw him back on the market. They might as well have thrown the money out the window when they made that signing. But yes, I agree with oyu, if they could, he should be the one to go, but I doubt he does. You're kidding, right? Why not just send Trot Nixon, $$$, Graf, and a prospect to Seattle for Ichiro and Felix Hernandez. If it was that easy to get guys like Dontrelle then he definately wouldnt be a Marlin anymore.
  15. Is it that big a deal that I brought it up? I mean seriously, why does it matter to you? Its not a big deal or anything, just a baseball related subject to throw out there. I am truly sorry if it bothered, offended, or angered you. Or even a combination of the three. But YOU did click on this thread, otherwise you wouldnt have made that initial post.
  16. why dont you give him your spot since you're already in the other league?
  17. You might be congratulating Korea in a few weeks. Mark my words The all around offense isnt there for Korea, though they do have a couple of offensive weapons. But if they continue to pitch this well, then I think they can go far. I wonder what happens with the proposal that states if the Korean WBC team makes it to the semi-finals, the players are exempt from the mandatory 2 years of military service (which is required by all men appearantly).
  18. Finally updated. This morning, a rare event has taken place. Rotoworld and my computer got along well. After months of getting along well they suddenly started to hate each other for a long while (which is the reason its taken so long for my updates), and this morning they worked. Not perfectly, but well enough to get the job done.
  19. I wasnt aware of this until reading the article just a few minutes ago and thought it was pretty interesting. The one I am going to post is from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, just because thats the first one I read. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-marlins05.1mar05,0,5188813.story?coll=sfla-sports-front Latre in the article Joe Girardi is naming possible reasons, and suggests that he maybe doing "soul searching" and deciding if he still wants to play and whatnot. And then it goes on to talk about similar issues Girardi had during his career. Appearantly though, since he has no permission, the Marlins could release him and owe him nothing (a little termination fee, but thats all). It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out.
  20. Chinese Taipei has more baseball experience. Baseball is still a very young sport in China. Not very many play it. No surprise to me that China got swept. And not just swept, annihilated. ..the game of the night/morning though has to be Korea/Japan to determine the winner of Pool A competition. HUGE WIN FOR KOREA. Both teams were guaranteed advancement in the tournament coming into this morning's game, however were playing for the right to say they had the best record among Pool A teams. And let me tell you, Japan is one of my picks for the whole tournament, and I picked them for this game as well, but Korea's pitching, especially in the bullpen on this particular morning, was OUTSTANDING. Japan scored the two runs early, but were pretty much shut down the rest of the way. The two performances that impressed me most were those by Dae-sung Koo; who was just released by the Mets within the last week, and Chan Ho Park, who has struggled the past few years. They were VERY GOOD against this dangerous Japan lineup. I didnt see when Korea put the 2 runs on the board, the tying, and go ahead, because I was watching my 5 year old brother this morning, and he wanted to play Playstation , so I really cant comment on that. But with the performance of the Korea bullpen, before they scored those runs I was willing to almost guarantee that the game finish 2-1 in favor of Japan. However that was not the case, as we know, and Korea prevailed as the Champions of Pool A, and Asia (sort of putting to rest Ichiro's quote saying that Korea and Chinese Taipei were nowhere near the level that Japan was). And now, with what i've seen the last 3 days, Korea has emerged as one of my favorites from here on out. I dont think they win this thing, or advance farther than Japan (I still have to stick with the notion that Japan is still superior to Korea when it comes to the Baseball department based on the facts that they are much more advanced, and much more accomplished), although I wouldnt be completely shocked if they did. But I still stick with my stance that the final four competing in the semis are the 4 power-houses; America, Dominican Republic, Japan, and Cuba. I have been very pleased with the WBC so far (if you havent noticed ) and hope to see more good play.
  21. The one that comes to mind for me was Roger's 300th win/4000th strikeout on June 13th, 2003 against St. Louis. I had bought the tickets ni January because that would be Tino's first game back at the Stadium since joining the Cards. How pleasant that not only did I get to see a beloved Yankee hero, but also got to see history made by one of my favorites. I can type for pages about that night, but i think i'll just stop here.
  22. I have changed my teams name. We are now "The Fighting Wombats" ..cant touch this!
  23. That was a pretty good inning where they scored 3. Nice hitting and moving runners over and everything. Ginter also looked pretty good from what I saw of him (i'm switching between the Red Sox game and the White Sox game, so I havent really been able to focus completely on the game). I thought it was pretty funny when the media was asking Arroyo if he was disappointed with his performance and everything like c'mon, its his first start in Spring Training, I doubt he's going to lose sleep over it.
