  1. He's looked pretty good to me so far.
  2. I'm having a really hard time getting into this Cuba/PR game.
  3. No. Thats not exactly what happened. He was brought in to be the starting Second baseman, but started the season at short because Nomar was hurt. This allowed Bellhorn the opprotunity to play second. When Nomar came back (I believe) Pokey and Bellhorn platooned until Pokey got hurt. By the time he came back from injury he was forced to play the bench due to how good Bellhorn was playing everything.
  4. I wish Pokey good luck. He was fun to watch in the field.
  5. It was ion UPN here in NY so I got to see it, and let me tell you. After the game against Canada this was good to see. Not much that can be said about this game, as we pretty much kicked their ass to South Africa and back.
  6. I was pulling for Canada because if they win, that makes Mexico 1-2, which allows us to advance if we win tomorrow. That's why I said it sucks. But yea, I just now saw your posts. I'm still a little confused by it all, however, i'll take you for your word. Seems like you know what you're talking about here. Where did you read.hear that, just curious? Maybe that source can answer some more questions I have.
  7. yeah, in the New York market. These guys dont get it. This sucks. 9-0 Mexico. That means that even if we win tomorrow we're not guaranteed advancement in the tourney. If Mexico wins, and we win tomorrow, then it goes into all this complicated tie-breaker stuff.
  8. Good to have you back.
  9. I see full effort from everyone, IMO. Everyone looks psyched to be in this. Cant wait for tomorrow, Rog better shut down South Africa. And hopefully if Canada wins tonight (i'll be glued to the TV), we automatically advance tomorrow with a win.
  10. What are you talking about? They have all shon a positive attitude towards this thing? What has Tek done to show more interest than anybody else?
  11. yeah. that was a great game.
  12. A lot of people dont like Selig. I however think he's great. Just all the things he's done. Building baseball back up after the strike, expansion in 98, wild card, interleague, WBC, etc, etc, etc
  13. Melky, my friend, is the MAN!
  14. Thats a huge trade if you ask me. Cintron is a very good player, and very underrated IMO. I think he works out good there. Obviously wont get the playing time he would have in Arizona, but the White Sox have gotten themselves a real good player for their bench.
  15. A-Roid? What are you getting at?
  16. I dont like it personally. I know a lot of people do, but there is absolutely no way MLB goes for this. No way all the owners agree, and no way they can get NPB, KBO, and other leagues to put their league on hold for it. Just wont happen.
  17. Right, however, with the rest that they will receive, they might not be as fatigued, and if an injury does occur, there is less of a chance that the player misses any regular season time as they can use the rest of the offseason to recover. If an injury happens now, the player is screwed for the start of the season. And thats a good point as well about the competitive competition prior to the start of the season. Thats not really a factor to me, however. I get crazy for spring training. I will watch ANY spring training game that is on, just to see the top prospects and whatnot. But still a very good point.
  18. this second league looks WAYY better than the first
  19. I agree with all that you're saying, and understand it. However, I would prefer to have it in November for several reasons. Now let me just state beforehand, that it really doesnt matter much to me either way. I am not so against having it now to the point that I would go and protest, and complain and whatnot. It's just that, if you asked me, I would probably have it in November. Reasons being, - It brings more of a championship/big game atmosphere to the table, with the World Series just previously ending. - It would appeal to fabs more, as it would provide more time for baseball. The fact that its during spring training now really doesnt provide it with it's own time period to be made a big deal out of. People would make a big deal out of spring training even if there was no WBC right now. I know thiat reason is hard to understand, but I really can't explain it any better. Sorry. But bascially what im trying to say is that, it just allows it to have it's own time frame, and allows fans to have more time to enjoy baseball. Spring Training is going to be February-March regardless, giving baseball popularity during that time period. Putting the WBC in November gives it it 's own time, and the fans another chance to enjoy baseball, and allow baseball popularity at a time of year when it's not normally popular. Having this every 4 years, plsu the MLB/NPB All Star Travel Series every 2 years, November would be as established a baseball month as February/March is. - The players are all in better, game ready shape. People argue that they'll be worn out come November, but honestly, with th eexception of the players who participated in the World Seires, all the players will have had plenty of time to rest up, plus the time after the World Series until the start of the WBC to rest up. And the pitchers would have all that time to rest as well. - It's an event held once every four years. If the player's have a problem with taking time out of their normal off-time once every four years to represent their country, then their probably not the players you would want respresenting it anyway. Although I cant see these Latin players having a problem with it. They have way too much pride and love to play baseball too much to complain about something like that. ..ok, so like I said, I would prefer a November WBC, but it really doesnt matter to me. I am satisfied with this as well.
  20. you dont know if what would be what?
  21. Well I tell ya, i'm not at all surprised about this. I mean I dont think anybody doubted his use, especially after the leaked testimony. This is coming from a very reliable source. The SF Chronicle seems to be THE source for steroid news, so I dont doubt this one bit. I still expect him to be the offensive power he's been. Last year, with steroid testing instituted, I doubt he was using, and look at how he performed when he was activated.
