If he didnt feel it, he wouldnt have said it. a) He initially wasnt asked if he had a preference as to which cap he wore, he stated it on his own. After that the questions came. and b)had someone asked him that initially, he could have just said something like "that's irrelevent, the choice is not up to me. He wouldnt say it if he doesnt mean it. Now, to my knowledge, he hasnt stated, since leaving the Yankees, that he wants to go into the Hall as a Yankee, but that doesnt mean anything because there has been no need to bring it up. He has however had no problem sharing with others that he still has strong feelings towards the organization and all of the people in it, and never has anything negative to say.
I believe that his words were genuine when he said that.
