  1. Great comebacks!! Just proves my point.
  2. Right, thanks. Cant believe I managed to forget that one.
  3. As of late it definately arguable that the Yankees pitching staff is better than the Red Sox. Being better off for the moment has absolutely nothing to do with the age of your pitchers and how many top prospects you have in the minors, so you're basically talking out of your ass. Randy, Moose, and Wang have been splendid the last month or so. Wright seems to have found himself lately (until the 6th inning, that is), and our only huge question mark is the 5th spot with Ponson. Our bullpen is deep, and although there are some inconsistecies, our relievers are much better than yours. GIve me Proctor over Seanez anyday. I'll take Villone over Tavarez. Farnsworth, although he has struggled when throwing more than one inning, throws harder than Timlin and it could be argued that he is about as good as Timlin due to his velocity and his slider. Not to mention we have the best closer in the history of the game. Our pitching staff, with the exception of Dotel (I dont really consider Pavano a part of the team anymore) is doing pretty damn well in the injury department, and will be doing better when Dotel joins the team in about 2 weeks (hopefully). You guys have had numerous injury problems throughout the course of the year. So much so that you were forced to call up the likes of Kason Gabbard. When you make pickups such as Kyle Snyder, that's not saying much for your pitching staff. I highly doubt Theo Epstein and Terry Francona are thrilled about having Jermaine Van Buren, Kyle Snyder, Manny Delcarmen, Kason Gabbard, Craig Hansen, and Jon Lester on the active roster instead of Matt Clement, Keith Foulke, Lenny DiNardo, Tim Wakefield, and Boomer Wells. When you're trading guys who were supposed to be key in the setup efforts for minor league relievers (David Riske and Javier Lopez, respectively) and juggling a pitcher who was claimed off waivers and is sporting a 3-10 record with an ERA above 6.30 (6.35 to be exact) it's hard to say you have a solid pitching staff with a straight face. And despite the record, when you're number 2 and ace of the future is sporting an ERA approaching 5 and 40 walks, it's not looking too great for the front end of your rotation. Now that's not to say that Joshy-poo has been bad, because he hasnt, but it is to say that he hasnt been as solid as you guys would like him to be. Now as for Lester, granted he has done a WONDERFUL job since his callup, I would bet you $20 that when Theo Epstein had to call him up he didnt do so with a smile on his face. Idoubt he wanted his highly touted pitching prspect up here so soon and under such circumstances. Now obviously it has worked out well for Theo and the Sox, but things could have taken a different route had they not gotten so lucky with how good Lester has been. So either way you put it, i'll gladly take Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina, Chien-Ming Wang, Jaret Wright, Sidney Ponson, Shawn Chacon, T.J. Beam, Mike Myers, Ron Villone, Scott Proctor, Kyle Farnsworth, and Mariano Rivera over Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, Kason Gabbord, Manny Delcarmen, Craig Hansen, Jermaine Van Buren, Kyle Snyder, Rudy Seanez, Julian Tavarez, Mike Timlin, and Jonathon Papelbon. Please, think twice before calling me out again. Kris Wilson isn't even on the team anymore. But I will give you TJ Beam Kason Gabbard[/b] (NOT Wakefield). Granted, Jon Lester has been great, but he isnt even supposed to be up here in the bigs yet. Wang has been terrific and his 11 wins are looking pretty nice up there among the league leaders. I can't really make a solid arguement against your Chacon=Tavarez case just yet because we havent seen enough of Chacon in the pen yet. However, you cant get much worse than Julian Tavarez. Javier Lopez isnt on the team anymore, Jermaine Van Buren however, is still less than Mike Myers. I betchya guys that Theo Epstein is finding it more urgent to get some pitching help than Brian Cashman is at this point. Now that's not to say that Cashman isnt urging to get some help because we obviously need it, but dont say that the Boston staff is in better shape than the Bombers' just yet.
  4. Well it was nice to start this series off strong like we did, especially following the disaster in Toronto. Just gotta look to keep it up here the rest of the series and take the momentum home with us against the Rays.
  5. funny thing. Both of his Yankee homers were called by me
  6. He started 2002 on the DL. SAteve Karsay was the closer for a while until Rivera got better. I believe there was another time too, but I cant specifically recall. Is it that difficult to just give the kid some credit? Paps has been the BEST closer this season, without a doubt. But does that discount Rivera's abilities, does it? And like rican said, as far as i'm concerned, the one thing I care most about is the postseason. We have a pretty good idea of how Rivera would do, but the same can't be said for Jonathon.
  7. There is nothing to agree with. All he did was point out an obvious fact, that I visit a Red Sox message board, and throw out a ridiculously childish insult. Nothing more, nothing less. That's all he is capable of doing.
  8. There is a difference between an obsession and an interest/curiosity. You post in more Yankee threads than you do Red Sox threads it seems. You're always the first to make note of a Yankee loss with your "Thuuuuuuuuuuuuuh Yankees Lose" posts, and you're constantly focusing on the Yankees. This thread is an example of that. When it comes to me and being on this forum, being obsessed with the Sox has absolutely nothing to do with it. MOST OF THE TIME (I realize not all of the time) when I post in a Sox thread I am complimenting or praising or giving an honest opinion. Whenever a trade rumor arises I always give my honest opinion and analysis as to how it would affect the Sox. I discuss things that I think would make the Sox better, and I discuss things regarding the Sox in general (such as that "Papelbon's Future" thread a few months back) because I am genuinely interested in these things. You, on the other hand get ridiculous. You perfectly fit the character of the stereotypical Yankee fan that is always in everybodys face taunting themn, that you Sox fans always try to make us out to be. That is the reality of the situation, you big f***ing waste of life, good for nothing bum. Instead of claiming to be a Sox fan, why dont you go find a team to fall in love with and root for them because you love them, not because they are the rival of the team you hate.
  9. I heard this today from another source as well and it would really be a great move for the Red Sox.
  10. Or it could just be my aggrevation from having to deal with you and your Yankee hate-fest. Grow up and go find a team to root for. I swear it's pathetic how much attention you pay to the Yankees and how much you criticize them when you have your own team to worry about. The Red Sox pitching staff is worse off than the Yankees (though you wouldnt know it based on today, but thats baseball) and it will catch up to them. Focus on that.
  11. i'm pretty sure Phillips does, doesnt he? He was first called up in September of '04 and I dont recall him being on the 40 man in '03. After you said that I remembered Bubba not having any left, but I could have sworn Phillips still had one left.
  12. Get a life and put your obsession/crush for the Yankees to rest. It's absolutely pathetic how jealous one can be. Not only that, but its also pathetic how stupid one could be. MEdia hype and bs? It's a f***ing observation, not a theory. An observation is something that you see, not something made up. It's true, Joe Torre is virtually emotionless. Now in his 11th season as Yankee manager I can only recall a handful of times where Joe's emotions were very visible. Those instances are so few and far between. To say that his reputation as a calming influence is media hype is absolutely ridiculous; open your f***ing eyes!
  13. shut up
  14. Bubba doesnt have any options left?
  15. Well considering he said he would VETO the trade I would assume so.
  16. I think this is a pretty decent move for the Giants. Of course you dont want to give up a guy who has potential like Accardo, but Shea, although a pretty terrible defensive 1st baseman (rated 4th worst) will definately provide an offensive boost to the team.
  17. I thought he had requested it due to the losing, and they just so happen to be open to the idea of moving his contract. I remember him them taking back his trade requests (at least publicly) and being named team captain for about 6 days. I may be wrong, I dont recall for sure. ...and as for him asking out of his contract, I doubt he would do that. He has to much to prove and he wants to do so very badly. I think he's in it for the long haul. When asked yesterday by reporters if he would accept a trade to Philly (For Abreau, Burrell, Tom Gordon, and David Bell) he said that he would veto it. Not that that means anything, just mentioning it.
  18. True.
  19. Nice answer. Thought so. DAMMIT!!!!!!! I hate you Vernon Wells! This is now 2 games in a row that I think we should have won. This sucks. 2.5 out and only 3 up. Not good. What a time for Mo to give up HR #1 on the year
  20. I've just seen him accepting all of the treatment like he should. He's taken all the responsibility and has done so with dignity. I dont think he could have handled it better. Please, if you could, refer to a specific instance for me because i'm truly lost here.
  21. This is good to see considering him sort of falling off this seasonwith his AAA struggles. There were a lot of big expectations of him coming into this year after his bad year last season and his dominance in Arizona in the fall. Thankfully for him Phil Hughes has attracted all of the attention regarding Yankee top prospects this season sort of putting Duncan in the rearview as opposed to 2003-2005. Now he only needs to regain dominant status and hopefully we see him ready for the bigs sooner than later. I predict we may see him either mid-season or september of next year, and he will become a regular player in 2008. I hope it all plays out well for this guy.
  22. Good points. I definately can't second guess the move considering how good Ryan has been this year, especially against lefties. Until Giambi's hit Ryan had only given up a hit to 3 lefties this year. However, on the other side it makes sense to leave the best starting pitcher in baseball in the game with only 93 pitches, and like jsinger said, on "cruise control." Either option would have been completely acceptable IMO.
  23. When did this alleged "whining" occur? Please, fill me in because I must have missed it.
  24. I saw the McNabb, Mariners, and Jeff Gordon ones.
  25. I doubt he was listening to ESPN Radio Milwaukee. When you have WEEI to listen to what the hell would possess somebody to go onto ESPN Milwaukee's website and listen to the live stream.
