  1. most likely. It would be nice not to, though.
  2. Which I disagree with. I like Mazz a lot and was thrilled when he came backj this past year as the bench coach. I hope he gets to stay in the organization in some capacity.
  3. I dont care what we get for him, as long as we can dump the $13Mil and keep him away from Boston. Sending him to the NL would be a plus, too.
  4. I like Suppan a lot and enjoyed watching him the past 2 years (particularily this year), but I think it's clear that it would be a mistake for the Yankees to sign him. Now, I wouldn't be terribly upset if we did sign him, but I can certainly see it turning out badly. No thanks.
  5. Like you, I follow it. Since 2002 I've kept up with this series. It's fun to watch the best of the best from the 2 best professional leagues in the world going up against each other.
  6. While I must say that i'm thrilled that Jeter won it, I can't say he fairly deserves it. After Gonzo signed with the Sox in the offseason I pretty much ruled out the possibility of a 3rd consecutive gold glove for Jeter.
  7. Like Schil, I am somewhat bored with the Cardinals, but have always liked them and don't mind having them in the series. Either way, since no NY team is involved, I won't mind the outcome. Since the Tigers beat the Yankees I have been pulling for them, and I would love to see them win it. I think the organization and city deserves it. Same with the Cards. I'm picking the Cardinals in either 5 or 6. I just think a full week off for the Tigers will hurt more than it will help. And the Cardinals are riding a hot streak coming into the series + their Game 1 win. I just plan on sitting back and enjoying this series. Also, sorry for posting this general post so late. I havent been on in a few days. Didnt mean to go off-topic.
  8. Funny how when it seems like the Yankees are starting to shy away from just going out and signing the best Free Agents that a change in the system occurs. Too bad this wasn't incorporated into the 2002 CBA, would have saved us a bunch of picks. But seriously. from a general standpoint I always thought compensation was a good idea. I'm curious to see how it's modified.
  9. ummm..Duncan didnt spend very much time in AAA this year. Most of it was spent at AA Trenton, where he had a pretty good year (although I dont have the numbers in front of me). Wow, are you serious? Perhaps Jeter is NOT jealous and not hungry for the NY spotlight? Did it ever occur to you that Jeter may be upset with Alex on a personal level? Maybe he's not supportive because of how upset he is about the things A-Rod said years ago in esquire. You ALWAYS try to determine people's motives for their actions, but the truth is you don't have a clue.
  10. I didn't say that it was limited to Red Sox fans, I just said especiaslly Red Sox fans. Too much for you to comprehend? Jesus Christ, you guys are making wayy too big a deal out of what I said. It was just something that I was pointing out. I wasn't qyestioning why people get on him, nor was I trying to rationalize or explain it. Just an observation. Damn.
  11. I understand where he's coming from though. Considering what has happened lately with the Yankees and planes, it makes sense. Had he made this big a deal about it under normal circumstances, I would agree with you. But I think we should give Alex the benefit of the doubt here.
  12. I thought he had a player option. But I think the club has an option. Actually, im not exactly sure. I should check on that.
  13. Wow, you alright ORS? Let me tell you why a trade like that would make sense for the Cubs; Because Ramirez isn't going to be a Cub for very much longer. If they want they can dump him now and either get a replacement, or move Izturis or Cedeno to third and have a rather solid, balanced infield. Also, lets face it, A-Rod; a clear headed A-Rod that doesnt have the weight of the tri-state Metropolitan area on his shoulders is the best player in baseball. If you want o argue that Pujols get sthat distinction, fine, but if thats the case tha A-Rod is second. They'll be getting God-like production out of the shortstop position. Also, baseball is a business, and the Cubs know that. Bringing A-Rod in would be GREAT for business. Between A-Rod and Lou that town would be absolutely buzzing. Chicago is already great when it comes to it's baseball, it would just be that much better with the addition of these two. Granted, they would be giving up one of the best pitchers in the game, but I honestly think that the CUbs would do that. They would want to please Lou by getting A-Rod, and they know A-Rod's capabilities. Granted, they would lose a lot in the pitching department, but I think that if maybe they went out and got a middle of the rotation starter to put with a HEALTHY Prior and Wood they would be alright. When it comes to on-the-field, no, it's not a great trade for the Cubs. But baseball is more than that. I think Lou would embrace it, and therefore the organization would embrace it. If healthy they have a pretty good pitching staff (I think, i'm basing that statement on vague memories), and with the addition of A-Rod, and perhaps a Soriano (who the Cubs are REALLY interested in as a Center Fielder/Leadoff hitter) they would be extremely productive on the offensive side of the ball. Honestly, if i'm the Cubs I make this trade. Me personally, like ATG I've changed my mind when it comes to trading Alex. Like I said, he is IMO the most talented player in baseball, and without all of the mental things he has going on he would be the most productive player in the game. That's not a fabrication, we've seen it. _____________________________ Back to the topic of the thread, I think Lou would do a pretty good job with this team. I really do. I'll be pulling for them. Anyone catch what number he got? Did he get his 14? I didn't see the entire press conference so i'm not sure.
  14. I agree that Sheffield should be gone. RJ isn't going anywhere. Moose shouldnt go anywhere. he definately doesnt deserve to have his option picked up, but if we can bring him back at a greatly reduced salary, then we have to do it. I mean, he's been all of our stability in the rotation since 2004. granted, he's struggled with a handful of injuries and bad droughts...but he's done pretty much, for the most part, a very good job since being forced to anchor this rotation. As for Duncan, nobody loves him more than I do, but he definately isnt ready to start out the 2007 season as the starting third baseman for the New York Yankees. As for Bernie, I dont mind bringing him back. He's done too much for this organization and as far as i'm concerned he should be able to play here until he retires. And lets face it, it's not like hes turned into a horrible player. Before Abreu came and Bernie was platooning with the likes of Aaron Guiel and Bubba Crosby, he was playing pretty well.
  15. Mike D? Where's the D coming from? ...also Soxfan, it wasn't a crash. Don't overdramatize it, buddy.
  16. LMAO
  17. Where exactly would he play? I love Soriano but it's not worth the burden of giving everybody fair playing time and paying him huge amounts of money. I wouldnt want him at third. I'd rather have Cano at third. But honestly, my real preference would be to find someone to hold third base (if we trade A-Rod) for a year for Eric Duncan. Maybe try to trade for a Mueller or sign Nomar or something. If Aramis Ramirez hits the market, see if he'll take a 1 year deal maybe.
  18. I get what your saying, only difference is that that type of joking between friends in private is different than with an enormous audience. I mean s***, me and my friends really get into it with one another when it comes to racial slurs; but it's all in fun between friends in private. I can understand where FOX is coming from on this matter. But like I said, I dont know if he deserved to lose his job.
  19. Great points. You obviously don't want to get caught up in all the hype and have it turn out to be an Irabu-type bust; but at the same time it's extremely difficult to pass on him. I've followed him in Japan for a few years and he's obviously been great over there. IMO, he's a risk worth taking. Money isn't an issue for either the Yankees or Red Sox, so it's not like if it doesnt work out they'll be totally ruined. I'm interested to see how much he goes for altogether, with posting and the actual contract.
  20. I dont want this to be taken the wrong way by anyone, but it's probably going to be a 2-team race between the Mariners and Yankees. My guess is he comes here to the Yanks. I dont think George lets the M's outbid him.
  21. It's a ridiculous thought, but I admit, it crossed my mind too.
