See, It's possible he can't hit. I read this the other day on rotoworld:
A scout told the Boston Herald Wednesday that trade candidate Mike Lowell is not moving well in the field or at the plate.
The Red Sox are hoping to dump Lowell for a bit of young talent before the regular season begins. But it sounds like they'll be fighting an uphill battle. "How he looked (yesterday), I would not have any interest in him," said the scout. "I don’t think he’s moving very well at all. Right now, his swing is very upper-body dominant. I don’t think he’s popping his hips or using his legs very much. It looked like he was swinging an iron gate."
That's not good at all. If his hip is too messed up how long is he going to get by just swinging his upper body?
And about the Schilling part of your post, I can remember quite a few people complaining about that, myself included. But a lot of people loved to keep their mouth shut because of the whole 2004 season and the sock and blah blah blah. Basically blind loyalty.
And Jacksonianmarch, a lot of people would, I know I would, but I also haven't spent the last decade or more making millions either, and I figured if I did spend that time making millions I probably wouldn't need much more in my life, especially If I was 36. What's 13 million more going to mean to Mike Lowell? Probably not much.
